Colder Monday

Monday, January 07, 2013

It seems like a lot of sparkers are in the throes of, or recovering from flu, or some stomach virus(flu is respiratory). Yesterday I came across a recipe from sparker sherrylyn that is simple and homeopathic, for strep throat treatment.. in 24 hours. It is supposed to get rid of it in one day if you follow instructions.

It has three ingredients, cayenne pepper, honey, and crushed garlic. You swallow a teaspoon every 30-60 minutes for 24 hours and the strep throat is gone!
If and when I ever get the symptoms, I will try this.. anybody wants the recipe, let me know.. she had he link on her blog on yesterdays message board. obviously, we are not doctors, But each ingredient has the healing properties for such a thing.. take what you liked and leave the rest...

Dunno about the honey (which I love, but which my blood glucose doesn't!) but I'm a real believer in the capsicum (sp?) in cayenne and ...whatever... is in garlic. Sometimes I think you can't beat natural cures for what ails ya!

I'll stick to Mona Vie - if for no other reasons, my health has improved since on it and it tastes better.

I swear by oscillo. We've started to have symptoms a number of times but so far it's been headed off each and every time.

Yep, I did the PB route too - makes 'em work at it till the trap springs. A couple years ago I was helping my mother set some traps in her basement. Before I baited and set them, I tied a long piece of string to each one. "What's that for?" she asked. "Because I refuse to touch the things once there's a dead mouse in them. I will pick them up by the string and throw them out." "But then we have to buy new traps!" [This from the woman who refused to touch the traps at all if they caught anything.]

"Ma, they're 89 cents apiece - I'll go to the hardware store and replace any traps I throw out!"

Worked a treat, lol...

I got up early, put a half turkey in the large crockpot, paid a few of mom's bills and am waiting for the beauty academy to open so I can try to squeeze in there today for a haircut.

This week begins the long, cold, drab wait for warm weather.. Unless you live in it your entire life, it does not mean much to say it is boring, hard work, and S.....L....O........W..........
Checking off he days until Paradise, MIchigan!!

I love this time of year. I can sit and knit for hours without starting to sweat from the pile in my lap!

I just got my hair cut last Sat.
My days have been so full, they are anything but slow.
Right now 4 family members are hospitalized.

It does seem like time to hibernate. I like to work on my firewood this time of year - no black flies, no mud, and no sweating (unless I dress too warm like today).

At least we're past the solstice, and the days are getting longer again.

I feel much more rested,, watched tv through my eyelids for awhile until DD finally got me awake enough to open my eyes to get up and go to bed. Ah, the pure bliss of clean flannel sheets, a nice spinally correct memory pillow, and a warm fleece nightie! If you add fifteen pounds of sand wights to my eyelids, that makes one drop on the bed without even covering up!
I feel somewhat better and still have two hours before I start work.

Have a wonderful day, all!!

Sleep beckons me

Thursday, January 03, 2013

I have been getting later times to go to work lately, so when I was scheduled to work at 9 today, I stayed awake and watched TV and read my huge book(The Covenant) until midnight.. 4:45am phone rings,,wha??? emoticon
Would I like to work a few more hours today>> Like three more, and start at 6 am?? Sure,,
It was very busy, went very slowly when I finally woke up since I am not good on little sleep..
I almost kissed the ground when I got home.. so happy I did the bank thing yesterday.. (See previous blog)

Make a commitment to turn off the boob tube. I don't turn it on before bed so I don't let this happen. Once you get into a pattern you will be less likely to let this happen.

Sleep is a big deal, and one under-appreciated until one is forced to do without. Here's hoping you get some much-needed rest. Your Sparky Water will taste better too.
