Reaching out today

Monday, November 26, 2012

Sometimes I barely have time to see and do everything I want to do on Sparks, but today I went to some sites that I never did before,, New people or some that I never saw here before. I learn so much from them, regardless if they ever know that was on their site. I feel humbled by the environments and struggles that some must endure in their life, as we just go about our daily lives.

I try not to forget that others have different medical or physical problems in life that I do not. I know it is our job to help one another, and sometimes I feel frustrated because I cannot go to them and really help them..
Some live in other countries, or do not see that they need help, or some need to grow, mature or live through some of the things I had to struggle with, nobody could just pick me up and haul me out of my situation: I had to see, choose and act ,, myself.

For those that I am unable to help through this site, I pray that they stop, listen, and accept help from those who offer it. It is not a sign of weakness, it is a sign of love, concern, and compassion for one another that wants us to give to them.
I do not have money to give, no big palace to live in, but I am a good listener.

I am glad we are all here to help ourselves, but also one another.

Just dropping by to visit and leave a note, a smile, or a few words of encouragement helps most of us as we need it, and when we need it. You're doing a great job Linda. Just keep doing what you're doing, and thanks for stopping by to visit!

Just being, working to better things, being encouraging, supportive, positive. These things have a ripple effect. Your smile and good attitude affect people around you, often without you even knowing. The ripples spread.

Well said. I try to click on the blogs or huddles that say "I need help". I want to be there for others and sometimes just a word of encouragement is the difference between some giving up or the motivation to keep going. Just keep doing what you're doing!

More snow!

Sunday, November 25, 2012

Well there is no turning back on winter now. We got about two inches last night while I slept.

I had a great day making cookies. Last year I was just there, did not do the cookie thing, but this year Patsy invited me to participate as family. I did not have to bring dough, as everybody else did. I brought my rolling pin, my Grandma's antique one, two silicone baking sheets, sprinkles and baking spray paint.

I was glad I rolled out dough and decorated my own cookies, as opposed to letting the kids do it. I saw more licking of fingers than a fried chicken eating contest!!! I was also warned not to bring lots of sprinkles as the kids lick the bottles, etc so Patsy throws them all in the trash when we are finished. Good practice.

I have moose, dinosaurs, ornaments, star, angel, etc..

It was big crowd, ten more that she invited, but very loud, football game(Michigan and Ohio of course), kids of every age running around, air hockey, laughing, eating, board games, babies, and a Bichon Frise` to top it all off, barking at the strange noises and people!!

I loved every second of it!! The nice ride home with Christmas carols playing, added to the great day.
We will freeze most of the cookies for Christmas,, Dd had a few little ones to do a quality check!!

Back to reality today, work tomorrow.. AH, life..

That sounds like a wonderful fun filled day I would love to do stuff like that.
I bake all kinds of fun things and give them away to my neighbors, It is easier than going round shops trying to match the person with the gift. Fancy home made food is always appreciated.

I am with you on the children licking, it is acceptable to many but not to me.
I watch how people touch all of the food and it bothers me.
I am glad someone else is like me. HUGS I am so Glad it is you,

Cookie bake day

Saturday, November 24, 2012

this afternoon I will be going to my friend's family cookie bake. I organized my contributions on Thanksgiving morning while preparing dinner. I have sprinkles, silicone baking sheets, some baked beans, red and green colored sprays for the frosting on the cookies.
I might stop in the next city to shop for an oil mister for my olive oil. A Sparker suggested using it instead of costly spray cans that make clouds of oil in your air.

I just looked outside:even in the dark, I see snow on the roofs. So it begins....

I have two kind os misters but when I used oil in them the oil went rancid in the pump and I just do not like the smell of it. Now i am looking for one of those oil tops that chefs use. I always manage to find a top that drips and oh so sticky that gets. HUGS and Linda, do enjoy a cookie treat.

black snowy Friday

Friday, November 23, 2012

It was a very busy day at work, busiest of he year,, I actually logged a lot of cardio due to this..
Sort of having an asthma attack, i was running for seven hours, but only claimed six, since I may have been sanding in place for a couple of hours. I finally got a drink of water an hour before I went home.

Our dinner yesterday was very good, very relaxing and probably the most nutritious I have ever had. We got lots of fiber with the relish, felt good about no gravy or stuffing, and Dolly the dishwasher cleaned up after us!!

Well done to both of you. I really think PLANNING MAKES A DIFFERENCE for any meal,

Yesterday I planned the meal. Today DH is not doing as well as yesterday and today no plans no real meals but i cooked and logged it all. I am so happy I do not buy junk food and I cook all myself. It really saves time, money and calories too. HUGS to both of you,

Have a fabulous restful weekend---or !!!!!!

Unstuffed day!

Thursday, November 22, 2012

I have pared down my menu for this day dramatically. No more stuffing, fruit salad, pie, ice cream, munchie snacks, Pink Panther poop, cranberry sauce, or cobblers. DD and I just enjoy a nice planned meal and today I actually got to prepare all but the green bean casserole. A day off.

We really have changed the thins we used to eat.. I make my whipped potatoes with 1/2% milk, no sour cream, no trans fat margarine.
Casserole is made with Fit and Active mushroom soup, I now sub my homemade cran/orange/ apple relish instead of the jelly. We are splurging with red velvet cake for dessert.
I got up early and started cleaning kitchen, made the relish, brought all of ingredients upstairs from pantry, prepared my bag of baking items for teh cookie bake this Saturday at me friend's house, washed dishes, re-arranged my storage containers in my cabinets, sorted laundry, got my hen out and oiled her up and put the apple in her tummy. I also made whole wheat bread and have that in the oven. When it is finished, the hen will go in the oven.

Sparker Racingtolose called us just now to wish us Happy Thanksgiving and she was headed to the race she is in, The Turkey Trot, near Chicago. We hope she does well and stays warm,, It is the same temp there as here, she should do well!

I am thankful I have this day off.

Sounds great. My dinner's cut down similar to yours, but without the cake, and plain green beans. Oh, and I did have a little red jelly stuff, since someone gave me a can of it, but only a couple of spoonfuls - too sweet. The freezer will be eating a lot of leftovers. emoticon

We ahve cut back as well. It's mostly just Ashley and I doing the turkey. && It's a heck fo a lot of work for jsut me to do. With rests in between for my back. Basic stuff but darn it there will be turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, rolls and green bean casserole. She is bringing dessert.
