pooped and pained..

Thursday, November 15, 2012

I am so exhausted from work, my back is throbbing and in pain,, took a half pain pill, do not care that it is a weekday,,
tomorrow is a short shift,, just got to make it through that..

Today we got our work schedules:I do not have to work Thanksgiving day!! First time in about ten or twelve years.. except last year after my surgery.
Ex hubby just called from Florida: they arrived there a day or so ago and he is wearing shorts today,, it is in the 60's, but he is waiting for the hot weather to come in down there. Poor things, I told him they have a foot of snow in teh Upper Peninsula and have had for a couple weeks. It is all relative..

Feeling better..

Wednesday, November 14, 2012

My dizziness has abated, the lasix seems to have worked..
I am still very tired, but we shuffled along in those leaves the other day, so my allergies are awake now.
This 28 degrees is for the birds.. the hunters will be packed into the forests here for shotgun opening day tomorrow. I hope somebody I know is lucky, I love venison and it si a very healthy form of beef to eat.

I am hoping that this winter goes smoothly for us here. I dread winter, but will slog through another season of it, no choice.. next year when I am swimming in that fresh water, enjoying the coolness of it, I will remember that snow had to happen for the lakes.

I looked for my post and I lost it.
I read about the Venison and I saw Debs on the page but I do not see me. So sorry I went on about the Deer that I like to see alive, I wish they would bag some of the turkeys instead. I am so fed up seeing huge gatherings of them in the middle of the road. Interstse 95 has flocks of them in the median. They never seem to get hit but the Deer do. I hope they are killed outright I do not like to think they are just Maimed. There are lots of people in Blaze Orange but so far have not seen any bagged yet. They do need to be thinned out, many people do rely on the meat. One of our Indian families have 3 freezers in the garage and they stock them right up with game and Venison, HUGS stay well Pat in Maine. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Colder Monday

Monday, November 12, 2012

yesterday it was 70 degrees outdoors. Today it is 30, raining and very windy. DD and I took a field trip to Gordons to buy our hen turkey for T-day. We got a nice one, almost 12 pounds,, $.49/lb,, w also stocked up on garlic powder, longhorn colby cheese for my Grandma's spaghetti recipe, another very favorite of Dd.

Got home, covered our picnic table on the patio, moved our garden cart into the shed, wheeled the BBQ into the garage in front of the tractor, in case we decided to cook in winter weather.
DD is not feeling well this week, so we will see what her doc says Thursday at her appt.

We are splurging this year and having red velvet cake for dessert for T-day. I have eliminated stuffing, gravy, ice cream, fruit salad and pop. DD LOVES red velvet cake, so that is that.

It will just be the two of us since I work that day and the day after .. she will be making everything for dinner except the cran-orange relish.. It is a blessing to have her prepare everything ahead, put the bird in the oven. I come home from work and just whip the potatoes when they are ready, make the relish.

It used to be all about the food, then it was all about having the day off, now I work it every year, so now it is all about DD doing he dinner!! I would have been happy with pizza!!

I'm starting out now for dinner at Lins. Sounds yummy and i know she makes a good green bean casserole. Another shocker for you so go ahead and laugh but I've never had Red Velvet cake. Last year i was not feeling well. Not feeling strong. Ashley did all the cooking at my directions. I might make an effort to cook. I am strong.

Wishing you a very Happy Thanksgiving this year! It's a bummer that you have to work, however, but getting to come home to an already prepared Thanksgiving Day dinner ... now that's a cool perk. emoticon emoticon emoticon

How nice to have a daughter who is capable in the kitchen. I think it's cool to not eat all the traditional foods of the holiday. Since it's just two of you, there is a good chance that much of it would not be eaten and would go to waste anyway. Enjoy your holiday!

For PatriciaK, this is the second DVD I have won on the wheel!! This one is Nicole's cardio blast. That girl IS a blast!!LOL! She really gets you going!!

I was sorting through Christmas gifts,, got them all organized,, since I already brought COnnie and the kids theirs last summer when we visited her, I do not have to ship them up north. One year I shipped hers(no kids) and it cost more than the gift,, really heavy!! That same year I also mailed a big box of things to my sister that lives two and a half hours away in traverse City,MI. Who knew that towels, stockings and slippers would be so heavy????????!!!!! I only did that once,, now I send her a big gift card and she loves it. darned near fainted when postal worker told me $50 to send that box about 160 miles away!! I could have flown myself to Florida round trip for that back then!! I know I weigh a LOT more than that carton!!LOL!

We are finding some floor space in our basement, a great feeling after getting all of those empty boxes out and in the garage, either filled with recyclables or garage sale items.

Temps are going to be 64 degrees, but we have not seen the sun, literally in four days.. even the sunrise is grey.. no snow is okay though..

Today I am getting my Thanksgiving foodstuffs except the bird,, Aldis has everything I need.. it is only DD and I, so we do not get that much,, My weakness is my stuffing, so I have not made it in a few years,, just potatoes, turkey, cranberry orange relish and a half cup of DD's green bean casserole.. SHE loves that..
I will be working so she prepares most of the dinner..

The Saturday after thanksgiving, i have been invited to go to my best friend's cookie-bake about a 45 minute drive from here.. Patsy's whole family gathers for a lunch and everybody bakes and decorates a LOT of cookies, everybody takes home a couple dozen,, I think,, not sure how many.. I have been to it before, but not to participate, just to visit and eat.
There will be about forty people there, mostly kids.. I am considered family to all of them, since patsy and i are like sisters, friends for the past 57 years.

How nice you are invited to participate, I think that is the reason I dislike the season. Thanks giving is my favourite, I dislike Christmas we always celebrated it on BOXING day after Christmas, My family were all in service so after the Christmas festivities for the rich folk us poor folk were given their leftovers in boxes. So it it is named boxing day and it is my favourite because Christmas is behind me and a new year is ahead. My Grans big Wing Ding was New years eve, The entire neighbour hood came to our very tiny house and it was crowded, standing room only. Even the front parlour had to have people in that night.
Enjoy your season Hugs Pat in Maine. WooHoo,
