oops!

Saturday, October 27, 2012

I blogged last night about it being sad that my mother told me to go home at dark. I just re-read that sentence and it reads like she wanted me to leave. What I MEANT was it is sad that an old lady knows that her much younger daughter turns into a pumpkin at dark!! Now, that is sad...LOL!

We got a phone cal this morning that mother needed to go to the hospital because her legs were read, blistered and swollen. Long story short: I just got home from spending my whole day with her, picking her up at facility, in and out of the bathroom in w/c twice, emergency treatment, then off to pharmacy for Rx's for her cellulitis, then back to facility , drop her off,,

, I was so incensed that her toes were black and proper procedures were not followed, that I demanded to emoticon see director of company,, talked to her, am going to a care conference Monday(my other day off) and left.. I also had to leave there, go to store and pick up some gauze to cover the huge blisters on her legs so they can apply her TEDS over it, to bring swelling down.

I had to suggest that, along with her activities. Director was surprised that I had medical background,, way before she was out of college...

I am not a perfectionist, BUT I demand that I do the best of my ability at my job, I expect the same from everybody else..
Three of mothers toes were black, she is a diabetic,, so director was kind of scared I was going to freak out on her,, I did freak out when I saw them at E.R care!!

I finally got her financial stuff taken care of, now this starts up.
This is a test, this is ONLY a test.. you will be returned to your regular broadcast station momentarily...

So sorry that this is happening to your mom. Praying that everything works out and that she is on the road to a complete recovery. I know that my DH had cellulitis and it was a while before healing was complete due to his being diabetic also.
Blessings and hugs,
Helen

I am so sorry to hear about this situation. emoticon emoticon
People deserve to be treated much better than that and take care of properly. There is no excuse for this to happen and they should be ashamed. It's shameful that people like that can work with patients, especially the elderly!

I hope your mom feels better soon and I hope you don't encounter this very poor care ever again!

For the kind of money the facility is paid they better do a darn good job.

Sounds scary what your moms going through.

Maybe there is a senior pool your mom can go to for exercise? or physical therapy?
Hang in there Lin

I JUST SAW MY MIL THIS MORNING AND HAD SOME OF THE SAME ISSUES YOU DID. HER CLOTHES WERE DIRTY EVEN THOUGH WE PAY THEM TO DO HER LAUNDRY. THERE WERE NO SHEETS ON HER BED AND SHE COULDN'T REMEMBER THE LAST TIME THERE WERE! HER FEET WERE VERY SWOLLEN AND SHE WAS JUST GETTING OUT OF BED WHEN I GOT THERE. SHE HAS TED HOSE TOO AND THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE PUT ON BEFORE SHE GETS UP TO KEEP THE SWELLING DOWN. BUT THE STAFF CLAIMS THAT SHE GETS UP RIGHT AS THEY ARE PASSING MEDS SO THEY DON'T HAVE TIME. SO SHOULD SHE LAY IN THE BED AND PEE THERE WHILE WAITING FOR THEM TO SHOW UP? IT'S VERY FRUSTRATING. FORTUNATELY, SHE DOESN'T REALIZE SHE IS NOT BEING WELL CARED FOR. AND THIS IS A GOOD FACILITY! YOU SHOULD SEE SOME OF THE OTHERS. I SURE HOPE SOMEONE SHOOTS ME FIRST!

LINDA, How come they did not take care of this earlier. Is there no medical staff at this place, they had to be aware she is diabetic. That is truly a bad situation.
Your mother is so fortunate to have you to second guess them.

We have paid in to Long term care and this year it goes up 33 percent and next year too. We bought it for our older days but have never used it and now they do this. It is incredible how they never mentioned this would happen. It was just a big come on and a waste of money since by next year the premiums will be out of our budget. Live and learn.
I do hope Mom is now getting better care at the facility, cellulitis is so hard to treat especially in a diabetic. Take care, I hope you will have some input in to the Care Conference, I feel most certain you will. HUGS Pat in Maine. So sorry that has happened to your Mom. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Day off,,

Friday, October 26, 2012

Last night was nice with mother unit. The director went over surveys from last spring, informed us that they now have Wireless to bring in our laptops.. I met some nice people, brought some pictures home of mom and her roommate.
It was nice to be able to participate due to the fact that the dinner started at five, instead of seven or eight like usual.. this will tell you how exciting my life is: My 86 year old mother looked out the window at six thirty and told me I should start heading home(six miles) because the sun was going down, it was dark outside! That is just sad... I left immediately..

I am going to mom's this afternoon to an Italian dinner with her. The company wants to present the results of the surveys that we filled out last spring. I have never been able to attend anything they have presented due to their late start times of 7 or 8 pm. I am in dreamland by then.

fall weather falling

Wednesday, October 24, 2012

Today is a typical autumn day,, leaves and rain falling every day, but the temp is in the high fifties up to high sixties.. The humidity is a delightful 100%!
I could not wait to get home, I was sweltering at work, as was everybody else. You cannot leave a box anywhere outside your home or it will be collapsed in an hour or so. Even things in the house are clammy and sweaty!!
The alternative is snow, so I guess it is something to learn to live with.

My pain seems to be slightly less today, so that is a positive. I noticed that going up and down the basement stair to do laundry is not as painful. A good day!

So happy you have a little less pain.
It makes me wonder is it the warmth that has helped or the wet weather, I used to hear a lot about air pressure in UK but not so ften here. UK is an island and it is small so influenced by the weather. Cool wet summers and warm wet winters was the rule in my childhood but with the climate changes one never knows. HUGS pat in Maine.

Vindictive Sparkers

Tuesday, October 23, 2012

I just left another Sparkers site. They are never going to blog again because some anal sparker keeps reporting their blogs as inappropriate. this Sparker never even hints at tasteless things, always gives an encouraging letter to those who need it and is very hurt that another person would cowardly sabotage them.
the person will not come fore=ward(surprise) and confront this Sparker, but merely hurts their feelings by going up to the techies.

I know there are some mentally ill Sparkers and some with other agendas, but I hope the tech support recognizes this and warns the coward to be very sure before they accuse another of doing something wrong.
I feel sorry for anybody whose life is so bankrupt that they feel the need to hurt another to feel superior or secure.
Paybacks are he77... emoticon emoticon

I think she could make her blogs private and then only friends could see them. And if there is nothing inappropriate in them, then Spark will ignore complaint---they do go and read it when someone does make that complaint. I have reported when someone is trying to sell something or an issue when they belittled another team which is why we have that button.

I wonder if some better comments added to the blog would help.
