who put all this junk in my house?

Saturday, February 05, 2011

I spent over four hours cleaning TWO drawers and my dresser top, filing and organizing moms papers, mine,, searching for her insurance cards, medicare, etc for new placement Monday.. I cannot figure out how all that junk got in my house!! SOmebody must have snuck in while I was asleep and piled all those papers all over, messed them up , ,,
I had a very non-productive day until them,, got up at six(slept in), went to lab for tests,, they took five tubes and a urine tube, then to moms to try to get in her driveway,, no-go,, then back home for a cheese stick to keep me going until medical mall opened.. nobody except hospital does xrays on weekends, so came home, started cleaning, sorting, tossing,, called placement director with insurance card numbers,,, called plow guy to pay him and get rid of the five foot drifts in her driveway(he is also a firefighter, so was on duty past four days),

I filled two big wastebaskets, plus filing piles, plus all the shredding I still have to do,, then on to the 23 page veterans papers to fill out for mom, then the fifteen placement papers, then insurance and investment papers to fill out,,

we got all of her clothing marked, her walker will be marked when we take it to her..

the brightest news is that I found a bag with my expensive rings that I "hid" when they no longer fit over my arthritic knuckles( three years ago),, so will be taking them to the jewelers for fitting for my "MAN HANDS" size,, cannot make my knuckles smaller, got 'em to my death, so might as well enjoy bigger sized rings,,

so that is my day off, typical actually , but going to start filling out that paperwork tomorrow .. I am just tingling with excitement over that,,( insert sarcasm)

I need a huge desk and a secretary,,(person, not furniture)

There is a rash of break ins in Bay County they come in the house and mess up your papers and add more to them. And then put things in places the last place you would look. They came here too and keep coming everyday....can't make them stop. emoticon

I did a file cleaning and organizing last week, honesty it took me all week, filled 3 large garbage bags. I dont own a shredder so I hand shredded, oh fun.
It was a joke to call my large 4 drawer, a file cabinet. Nothing was filed anymore, couldnt find a darn thing in there. And the silly things I thought I should keep, got tossed.

Doesnt it feel great to get organized and to declutter?

Best of luck to your mom emoticon

So funny: the only part of my mailbox that is sticking out of the snowbank is the door and the flag!!
I hope people that had accidents are doing okay, people that cannot afford heat or extra food, are maintaining,, I am blessed and try to keep that in perspective .. TRY...

Being grateful for your own situation is a good way to cheer yourself up, too. We are suffering a warm spell, and I'm grateful. The BW wanted me to shear the dogs because "winter is over" but I convinced her that it isn't really.

still on the map!!

Thursday, February 03, 2011

Well, the actual speed of the winds early yesterday morning was 72 mph, with snow and ice particles, called "frozen fog" . NO darn wonder I had such a hard time staying standing, to shovel!! DD took some photos,, will try to post them,, SOmewhre in the snowpiles in the front are my mailbox and a neighbor kid.. piles are approx.15-18 feet high in my front yard,, the one in teh back is my huge picnic table under snow,, that snow is drifted about 8 feet high..
neighbors dug us out of our house to get to our driveway to shovel!!
I live about 250 miles south of he Mackinac Bridge,, they hae a milder winter up there than we do here!! Weird!!

ok. my first time ever geting pics in a blog,, this pic is my patio with a twelve foot picnic table under all that snow, but the snow is actually about nin feet high,, I HATE WINTER!!!!!!!!
Just got call from assisted living home: mom's move has been moved to MOnday due to storm,,,
We were very blessed to hav epower, some people a few miles from us still do not have any power, which means no furnace, lights, appliances or (God help them) internet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. Other snow photos are in my sparkpage photos,, just click on the word!!

Winter whoopun'!!

Wednesday, February 02, 2011

MId Michigan is in the throes of 60mph winds, -0 temps, a foot of snow over what we already have(6 inches or so),I even saw THUNDER AND LIGHTNING quite a few times!! It is 4 a.m. and I cannot see the house across the street(about 60 feet away!! With a streetlight!! Bridges are closed, ambulances and tow trucks stuck, etc,, In Michigan we get that Lake effect, which means the humidity and high winds swirl, twirl and dump strange fog, rain, ice, snow, etc all over that you would never see anyplace else in the world except higher northern or arctic latitudes. We are completely surrounded by water and right under Canada, which has extreme weather too.
I shoveled and turned around and had to shovel my way back into the garage , three feet away!! All the gas, food stocking and stocking my car with emergency items still cannot get me out to the road to go to work!! Thank God I stockpile food in the winter..
This is the worst blizzard I have seen here in about fifteen years. Born and raised here too....

Back in '78' I did go on the snow train in Canada and saw people's stovepipes and chimneys peeking through the snow in Moosejaw,Ontario,, All you could see from the train was smoke coming through pipes,, it was people's roofs:their homes were buried in snow and that was the only way you could tell there was anything under the snow!! That my friends is some serious snow!!

All businesses, airports, schools, etc are closed,, time for me to get some cardio in shoveling again,, after the lightning stops, I was a giant lightning rod with that metal shovel in me hand!! Already have curly hair, no need for an aero-perm!!

We have been through Moosejaw, and Medicine Hat, and Thunder Bay - all in the summertime. It was nice. I remember the weather you are talking about - there are pictures in the local paper. Down here the sun is shining, and it's 75 for a couple of days, and I understand why the BW didn't want to hang around with the kids for a permanent home. I feel for you - and Chicago.
