Sunday morning, quiet...

Sunday, September 30, 2012

There are 85 shopping days until Christmas. I am very glad I am mostly finished with shopping. I get gift cards for both sisters and some for DD, have the great niece and great nephew's gifts already. Just one more friend to purchase a gift for and get my Christmas cards written Thanksgiving weekend.
We had a fruitful day yesterday.. Some of the little things in life that make me smile:
**Used $$ rewards certificate at Staples that I earned for ink, stocked up on some office supplies on sale with it.
**Got free breakfast near here while we running errands.
**Drove up to gas pump immediately AFTER they dropped the price by $.01/gal!! Every little bit helps, I say.
**Used coupon from paper, stocked my freezer with some ground beef for winter, on sale too!
**Emptied a whole carload of items at dad's house for sale.. My basement has a floor!

Today the game plan is to vac and polish in living room, then I am going to steam clean the carpet while DD does some laundry and some kitchen work.
As much as we work on the weekends, it is still better than being at my job. We are accomplishing a lot in out basement.

Thanks for visiting my blog. Looks like great minds think alike! emoticon It will surely feel good once the car can fit in the garage and then when DS3 gets the dining room table out of there for his new apt. during Thanksgiving week.

Thanks for your comments on my photos. The pic of the fruit is of sour cherries. They make my favorite pie or cobbler. I have fond memories spent with mom....picking, canning, freezing, jams, cobblers, pies... It's been years since I've gone and picked myself, preferring to save the time and just buy from a local farmers market.

I see we are Great Lakes neighbors. I enjoyed your photos of Munising. Our locality sits right between Lake Erie and Lake Ontario....with Niagara Falls, only 20 minutes away...it is so beautiful!

pain is not my friend

Friday, September 28, 2012

I am at work, minding my own business, when all of a sudden, I feel this stabbing pain on the entire bottom of my right foot.
I mean the pain like stepping on a needle or a rusty nail(done both plenty of times) except it was more like a BOX of both! I have never had that before. I had tears streaming down my cheeks,,, limped around the last hour and a half of work..
I drove home gingerly, using that foot of course, for the gas pedal.. agony..
My foot actually felt like somebody tore the skin back and scraped a knife across it ,, along with the nails and needles.
I know it is a combo of the arthritis and fibromyalgia, but that does not lessen the pain.

I have Rx pain meds, but really hesitate to take anything due to my ultra-extreme sensitivity to every med. This time I made a bee-line to the medicine cabinet, cut a pain pill in half,, it took awhile to work, but now the foot is just extremely tender,, like every nerve is scarped raw.. still better than before.
the worst part of this is, I know it is only going to get worse as I age..
I have not been pain-free since I was 21 years old,, I am almost 60, so that is not the bad part. The bad part is my fear that I will not be able to tolerate working until I am old enough to receive Medicare that I have paid into for 42 years already..

Really sorry to hear that - my daughter has FM, so I know just what you're talking about. Hope it eases up soon. And if you find something that seems to help, please do post - I know there are lots of SP-ers with FM who could benefit.

It's tiring, but you're right - the sense of achievement is a good feeling, a good kind of tired - sleep well!

So I had an appointment for my annual slam-o-gram this morning after work. Went about doing little things before then, feeling that I just HAD one a few months ago.(I say that every year, probably trying to block it out)
So I get the first, horizontal part finished, thinking, gee, this was not bad at all, what a big baby whiner I am!!
Little teensy tech (A- cup or less, definitely President of the IBTC) walks up behind me and says, "Okay hon, let's get started on the next part."
I forgot about that tilty, twirly, flat plate that spins until it goes vertical, slide everything ya got up to your clavicle, into the wine press, so to speak. She tells me not to breathe,(If only I could) I hear the loud whirring noise, fighting to stay conscious, the wine press releases, I look down and see no nectar of the gods from grapes,, President of IBTC tells me to go for the other side and do the same thing. Once the stars clear, I move around, getting "comfy" on the wine press, she runs away to her press handle(I flash back to the scene in Frankenstein when the platform goes up in the night sky while Doc pulls the handle),, then I am finished.

The best part is, while I am sitting there waiting to see if they need to (God take me now) re-do a portion of the gram, she tells me to browse through the huge notebook of RECIPES they have there for you to peruse and take home. This is a two-handed family Bible sized thing, so I hold my poor traumatized mammaries together under my little flannel cami, look through and act like the most important thing I can do is choose a recipe. Hark!!!! I find one for crockpot frijoles`!! Nirvana~~
I wake up and cook beans, smiling...

    Totally can relate.

That is exactly how it goes. I was just thinking last week about how often we are supposed to go. I guess I'll call the hospital for the answer. I know it's Feb. I heard a great commercial last week also that encouraged women to make an appointment with your best friend. That way you can remind each other and not put it off. Then go out and do something fun afterward. I thought that was a great idea.
Thanks for sharing and stopping by my blog with the encouragement.
