So I had an appointment for my annual slam-o-gram this morning after work. Went about doing little things before then, feeling that I just HAD one a few months ago.(I say that every year, probably trying to block it out)
So I get the first, horizontal part finished, thinking, gee, this was not bad at all, what a big baby whiner I am!!
Little teensy tech (A- cup or less, definitely President of the IBTC) walks up behind me and says, "Okay hon, let's get started on the next part."
I forgot about that tilty, twirly, flat plate that spins until it goes vertical, slide everything ya got up to your clavicle, into the wine press, so to speak. She tells me not to breathe,(If only I could) I hear the loud whirring noise, fighting to stay conscious, the wine press releases, I look down and see no nectar of the gods from grapes,, President of IBTC tells me to go for the other side and do the same thing. Once the stars clear, I move around, getting "comfy" on the wine press, she runs away to her press handle(I flash back to the scene in Frankenstein when the platform goes up in the night sky while Doc pulls the handle),, then I am finished.

The best part is, while I am sitting there waiting to see if they need to (God take me now) re-do a portion of the gram, she tells me to browse through the huge notebook of RECIPES they have there for you to peruse and take home. This is a two-handed family Bible sized thing, so I hold my poor traumatized mammaries together under my little flannel cami, look through and act like the most important thing I can do is choose a recipe. Hark!!!! I find one for crockpot frijoles`!! Nirvana~~
I wake up and cook beans, smiling...

    Totally can relate.

That is exactly how it goes. I was just thinking last week about how often we are supposed to go. I guess I'll call the hospital for the answer. I know it's Feb. I heard a great commercial last week also that encouraged women to make an appointment with your best friend. That way you can remind each other and not put it off. Then go out and do something fun afterward. I thought that was a great idea.
Thanks for sharing and stopping by my blog with the encouragement.

Go where you are led.. or not led..

Way back when, DD and I ate in a restaurant in a nearby city,, got a great coupon for $$ off a visit there this week. They also have a fantastic special on Tuesdays that feed us there, then about three or four more meals, so we were going to go there today after I returned home from work. They specialize in my all-time favorite food: BBQ ribs.
We have been thinking about this for a few weeks, planning it. I lost the slip with the coupon. I told DD that if we could not find it, then we were not going.. We are still home, no coupon in sight. I think I threw it away accidentally.
There are two foods that I can never get enough of, and they are both the worst things for me. BBQ ribs and chicarones`.(homemade).

Now I know that we were not supposed to go there, that it was a choice I must have made before and tossed that $$ off thingie away. We very seldom eat out, but when we do, we order a lot of food and take it home and eat from it for days. that was the plan, but now I know that the stir fry and apples, the pears and the broiled chicken at home, are what I am supposed to eat.
I also know that I am going to take that $$ that I would have spent and put it in our vacation fund. We scrimp all year so we can go away for a week, rent a cabin and relax, so we are going to be even more inventive to stash more $$ than this year, so we can do something that is not free. We went to the Bear rescue Ranch and that is the only thing we did that cost any $$ for a week! $20..

In Michigan, there are thousands of inland lakes plus the big five(Great Lakes). I am a five minute ride from one and am surrounded by water here,, lots of parks, festivals, hiking, waterfalls, and on and on.... unless you just want to swim it costs $$ to rent something to use IN THE WATER. I always want an adventure, do something different each time, so we will see.
That restaurant will just have to make it without my $$ for a while.

I love BBQ ribs too. Here we don't get $$ off coupons. Maybe I can look online.

It is supposed to be rainy all weekend, of course:my two days off. I hope to get out and pick more berries, SHOVEL the little helicoptor thingies on the deck from that horrible maple tree hanging over it, then sweep it, put gardening things away for the winter,,
we are going to keep the grill out on the deck for little while longer, then it comes into the garage for the winter,, we also need to cover the big picnic table on the patio, etc.
I miss the pool so much, BUT it was so nice NOT to have to close it this year,, for the first time since 1988, we were spared that job. Linda's Law dictated that, instead, we bailed water out of the basement,, total irony...
that shop vac and dehumidifier have been going full-time for a month...

Linda we spent on our pool this year, a lot for 5 weeks of our grands and it was worth it to have them here with us so long. Should anything happen to their parents we need to be bonded enough to look after them. Family is very important and their medication needs are significant. The pool will stay and we shall see if it as bad as this year to open. We invested in a pool filter vacuum, and it has been worth that too, it kept it clean so it looked better. Taking out and filling in will be another financial challenge but the sons and grand kids have all enjoyed it and I did too when i could tolerate cold water.

OUR basement was never wet till a highly recommended plumber messed with the yard and dug up all the blue clay for nothing except we had to pay him thousands of dollars another young plumber walked in to the housed and IMMEDIATELY saw the roof vent pipe had NEVER been secured and as it slid down water accumulated so we had no vent pipe for most of the year.

Now we have a sump pump in the floor and we ere lucky enough to have a storm drain in the street We are able to connect to the storm drain for the roof run off and also the sump pump. It is not longer completely dry but if it really a hard winter we will get some in coming up through the drain.
I can imagine the electricity you use we used to do that all spring long. We too have rain here for the weekend. HUGS pat in Maine I will need to subscribe yet again to a number of people I have been missing like you. Sorry I missed them HUGS PAT in Maine. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
