With this unusually hot and humid weather in our state this year, I think I drank more water than I have in my life so far. IT is all filtered, so I feel confident that it is not harming me, but the humidity and heat are draining everybody of energy. I was just standing next to the lawn mower yesterday, in the shade, sweat pouring off me!!
I have a real fear of what the planet has in store for us with this global warming,, each year gives less ground moisture when needed, but the atmosphere is like a giant terrarium.

DD mowed lawn this morning before it started to sprinkle..more rain until next week.. I should have left the pool hole opened and made a big pond back there...

It is what it is with this weather. We got the tail end of Isaac they say. We have the greenest grass I have ever seen here. This is the first year we did not have garden. Our friends have been sharing their bounty . I love little Zucchini about 6 to8 inches long just to eat whole. Most of then were small last night and when I got them they are huge. I love Zucchini chocolate cake i made it for my kids all the time. They always asked about the green things bu they never stooped eating them despite the green things. Chocolate disguises a lot HUGS Pat in Maine.
LINDA I hope the weather is kinder tomorrow. Hugs dear friend, take care! emoticon emoticon emoticon

JOhn Deere Crapmobile

Tuesday, September 04, 2012

Rose at 3 for work, got home from work to find ex hub at parental home to repair their junk of a JOhn Deer lawn mower. He installed new belt, new blades, cotter pins, ignition electronics wiring to deck,,, mower still did not work,,
ten minutes after I showered, ex and DD show up home to tell me I need to make a trip to neighboring town, nearest JOhn Deer dealer to get new part.. seems we had to ge tnew wiring..

Guy tells us what is wrong, how to fix, so we schlep back to parental home, , , ex starts work on mower, I get acall form a dear friend that she has apail of tomaotes for me .. she lives a couple miles from parental home, so I leave him on the driveway to install new parts.
return to find mower still does not work, so he gets back on ground, starres at belt on pulleys, to discover that whomever assembled teh mower before purchase(belt ahs never been changed) put it on wrong,, also installed springs on wiring wrong,, so the whole time the belt was rubbing against a spring,, miracle that it ever worked.. humidity here is 97%, 87 degrees, so it was not fun.

We finally got home at4:30ish.. I am exhausted, still have laundry to do,, cleaning curtains for sale, packing more tubs.. it was so hot I hav eot shower AGAIN,, just did7 hours ago..

got many errands to run tomorrow, so am glad I have a list, have a short shift, and will hopefully, cool down by then.
What a day!!!!!!!!!!! Still sucking water out of basement.. 65 pints every six hours yet.. hopefully, by nest week we should hae it dried up,, although we are supposed to get more rain tomorrow,, we got rain this morning..

I thought they were supposed to be reliable, I see all the little kids on John DEERE toy tractors. I would give them a piece of my mind in a nice polite way. Was it assembled at the store, you should have some recourse for all of the money spent on parts. DUPLICATE your bills and let them have it. It was a good thing there was help for you . Sorry LINDA, that is no way to spend a day for sure. HUGS Pat in Maine. emoticon emoticonWe have lots of rain too right now. HUGS !!!!

Get some rest. You've earned it.

Here in Maine John Deere's are a no go. Everyone here uses John Moose's.

Labor Day purpose

Monday, September 03, 2012

Remembering why this day is set aside.. for our workplaces to be safe, hours and wages to be fair,, say-so about our conditions, etc.. not a free day for BBQ and casino romps. I worked today and have worked every Labor Day for the past 21 years.. glad to do it too..

Good thoughts. I think some idea similar to our Labor Day has been observed in Europe and Britain too. A time to honor the workers, the farmers, millers, bakers, wainwrights, weavers, etc. It was real important during the industrial revolution, coupled to an increasing awareness of the need for child labor laws and so on.

When I was a kid there were always parades, games, community events. Much more the whole town involved than individual families.

LINDA you made me hungry. Especially for the sprouts we eat them with onions and I use a couple of pieces of ready cooked bacon. That could be a meal for us. Thanks Pat in Maine,. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

We actually opened our windows again for a couple hours, but hurriedly closed them again when we returned home this morning. First trip was to bank for mom deposits,, second to Ace hardware for mosquito bombs for parental garage. Third place was store to buy a dehumidifier for the basement.. putting our big one in parental basement and keeping this one.

Temp is hot and humid,, but sunny,, DD going to mow our lawn and I am in charge of bailing the basement today.. kitchen stuff to do,, no canning this year,, no tomatoes to be had in Mid Michigan,, everybody is canning to save $$ in this horrible economy, but weather killed them and the apples, so no applesauce or homemade apple pie filling either.
Just freezing green peppers this year.. and our blackberries and raspberries form our yard.

I sure got my cardio in this morning hauling that humidifier down the basement stairs, moving boxes out of the way., filling some pantry things in. We did lots of walking while shopping too.. the Meijer superstore is humongo!!!! Of course, the three things I bought were in opposite parts of the store..okay with me, I need to roll the fat off somehow.

I got a lot of cardio in this week but never got it logged. Why? Don't know how many minutes I did a day. Too many or too little to count.
