The title to this blog is for Sharon,, as of yesterday,,
Today is just busy stuff, bill paying, calls to credit union, calculating deposits and withdrawals..
Ex hub informed me yesterday that there is an unusual swarm of aggressive mosquitoes in parents garage that attacked him yesterday while he was looking for toilet thingies.. I need to get over there and bomb the garage now,, as if it was not enough two years ago when those red and black beetle things swarmed parents house when the tree fell on it.. it took us four months to kill them all and guard from them infesting the interior of the house..
I just read the WN virus article, so I will go there tomorrow and do that,, got some major banking to do , will be busy doing mom things again after work,,
Things like this are a daily event,, five or six dumb things that I never had to deal with before,, this is why my vacation is essential to my health.. way too short, way too far apart, but every second away from here is Nirvana to me, no matter how simple..
One positive thing that did happen before I left for vacation: I entered this sort of contest at my credit union.. it is called save to win,, you make a minimum $25 deposit every week for a year,, each deposit gets you an entry to win a possible $50 monthly, $1,000 every six months, and at the end, the Grand prize is $5,000. All the CU around here are participating so there are thousands and thousands of members that are doing it.. at the end of a year, you can cash the CD in, so no big deal, BUT I actually WON $50 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I called today to see if they deposited it in my savings account,, they did last week!! Guess where that $$ is going?? vacation fund,, every penny I find, all the change I get from anything, I put in the fund,, I also won a $5 gift card adn some free meals form work the day before I left..
I pray we stay healthy enough to go next year,, oh, another thing that happened,,,
DD and I have been using Minagin and Nojmuk, a Native American salve I started buying at the Blueberry festival last year,, Mine is for my fibro, arthritis, diabetic neuropathy,, DD uses Nojmuk for her severe contact dermatitis and eczema.. They work miraculously!! All hand picked herbs,, made right in MIchigan.. anyway, I had been emailing Nathan, the owner, about DD severe skin probs, asking him if he could make much larger containers to sell to us,(he told me I am his best customer) because she uses it all over her body..
He finally got to meet DD last week, he talked to DD and after a few minutes of her showing him how her body had healed, he asked her if she would make a testimonial online.. he had her hold his notebook facing her, he stood behind it , asking her questions,, and that was that,, I then told him how it helped me,, he asked me to do one too.. I did..
All this time, people are walking up, checking out his products, we are telling them how it worked for us,, I think we sold at least five or six hundred dollars of it for him in about an hour.. I am proud to promote this, it is wonderful.. anyway, he gave us free product.. he is our new best friend..
I also left work on the day before we left and somebody had dropped a handful of quarters all over the parking lot.. I looked around, stood there, but nobody around,, I got a windfall of a few bucks for just bending over!!!!!! Mackinac Bridge fare!!! (it is $4 this year)..
So, DD and I should be featured on Nathan's Herbal Lodge website soon,, he has to send us releases to sign, then he can post it..

Glad ex came over yesterday,, today he repaired parental unit upstairs toilet,, I had tried a long time ago, but could not get the fixtures to cooperate with me.. he informed me that parents mower deck will be ready by next Monday at the latest,, he also brought his mower to mow their lawn..
Life is getting back in the old patterns of work, work, work,,
352 days until vacation in 2013..

Debbieanne, I do not get a paid vacation,, any time I have a day off, I do not get paid,ever..
that is why I only take one week per year..
IF we did not cook our own meals and take our own food, get free gas cards online, find free things to do,, I would not be able to afford any time away.. I just figured out that I drove exactly 967 miles between Aug 17 and Aug 23. the gas cost me $23. that was only because I decided to fill up at a Holiday station in Munising,MI halfway through our trek across the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in one day. The cheapest we saw gas was there at $3.99/gal..In Ishpeming, MI, it was $4.19/gal.
I Do love taking a cruise(previous life) and high end hotels, BUT now that is not possible, so I love teh outdoors, nature, cabins, fishing, etc,, so my main $$ spent is the lodging..
The practical part of me tells me to save every penny that crosses my palm, but the naughty part says, Eh, when you are too feeble and decrepit to move, you can save $$, when you are still mobile, hit the road, but if there is a way to cut a corner to make it happen, do it..
I will pos t some more pics,, this is a little side part of Tahquamenon Falls
Leaves changing color already on Aug17th!!

Today marks the last day of my vacation.. Still unpacking tubs of supplies and finishing laundry,, DD mowed the lawn, I shopped for essentials..
Back to the grind for another year..
I am relived that our cabin is reserved for next year already, all I have to do is call them and confirm my credit card #'s next spring.. ditto for the new cabin I found in Indian River. I am still debating on staying at the new place THREE nights instead of two.. we really did not get much beach time this year by the time we drove from Paradise, crossed the bridge, unpacked in next cabin, had lunch and took some more pictures.
I did tell DD that next year I want a day trip from Paradise to Sault Ste. Marie, MI.. it is much shorter drive(an hour or so) than Ishpeming, we can still do the beach, take pics, search for old friend that lives there.. be fudgies (tourists) and relax...
time to tweak the packing list for next year.. not that we are anxious to return or anything..
Apparently a freighter near the Soo Locks tipped over with a load of coal the day before we arrived last week,, these twin freighters were among 9 waiting for the St. Lawrence Seaway to be cleared.. this seaway runs all the way around to the Panama Canal.. without this set of locks, ships would have to go all the way around the Bering Straits or back around the Pacific Ocean to South America.. we got pics of each ship,,
This was me with glasses. Dd is below,, at the Blueberry Festival in Paradise,MI
this is Lily, my friend Connie's Westie,, 12 years old,, in Munising,Mi last Monday.
OOps.. DD is posing at the festival too,,
The cabin is #8, our home away from home for 5 days.. next year too.. wish it was really mine!!

Going to try to put some black bear pics on here from Oswald's Bear Ranch in Michigan. A total rescue ranch for bears all over North America. Friend of my Dad's owns it. The first one is the first bear(there are currently 29 there ,including 3- 7 month old cubs)I saw,, darned near bumped into him!
This is a ranch that you walk around in, not a drive-though place. They have ponds, waterfalls, tree stump dens, caves, hundreds of trees and hills to climb. The owner is a Marine vet, retired boxing coach and trainer, fireman.. he was in Golden Gloves for about forty years and has the nose to prove it. Dean Oswald..
anyway, while we were there, one of the cubs figured out how to get the locks undone from their double fenced enclosure. He got out of the living area and was through one fence, ready to climb over the last one, when a c=visitor came up to us and the worker in the gift shop, ten feet away, and told us the cub was loose! They are about the size of a black lab right now,, but those teeth and claws are longer than I care to feel on my skin,, worker put baby back in the playpen,, we were planning to get our pics taken holding a cub like others have done,, but of course, the government stepped in and outlawed it. They charged $5 for the privilege and the $$ went towards their feed, vets, habitat, etc.
We tried, but we got the best pics we could,, we plan on going back next year,, the adults can never leave captivity due to their being orphaned and some being raised by hand, others were badly injured and cannot hunt for themselves.
That first bear pic was a very surreal experience: it was so close to the fence if there was only one fence and non electrical, I could have reached through the holes and petted him! I was gabbing away to DD behind me, strolling along, when I stopped dead and saw what you see..
