THURSDAY

Pilot to bombardier: Went to nursing home, visited with mom, asked her more memory questions just for my peace of mind that she truly has dementia,, OH YEAH! She did not remember anything about her two visits to the neurosurgeon, any xrays(had four sets of them), nothing,, did not remember who gave her plants or cards in her room..

Sw came in after ra half hour, presented the whole scenario as if we had not talked, like she was telling us both at the same time that mom must leave, but needs a stepping-stone to get her sea legs,,
mom just looked at me and asked what I thought,, great, now I know what my daughter will be tricking ME with!!
I then left there and kept appointment with marketing director at assisted living facility a couple miles from nursing home..
I LOVE IT! In fact, if I was able, I WOULD MOVE THERE!!! A Brookdale facility, only 26 residents in this house,, it was just like being in someones home,, clean, homey, tons of activities, field trips, great food, private mini-apartments..
unfortunately, it also does not have an opening yet,, a person on the waiting list has not decided if they want o go there or not, but I told her that I want immediate placement,, she is going to talk to the Director and call me back tomorrow afternoon.. also see if mom is eligible for Dad's veterans benefits,,
I need prayers for this,, more so than my health, I need her to get in there,, that would be a major relief to me..
I NEED IT MORE THAN SHE DOES...
I know God will provide for her needs too,, but secretly I hope this is the biggie!!

OH I do hope the benefits work for her. That would really be helpful. Is the socail worker actually helping you with all of this stuff or are you on your own with it all.

I am really hoping this will work for you and your family, MOM will be safe and you can have peace and peace of mind HUGS LINDA, Pat in Maine.

Worked extra hours today, got home, nursing home called again,, time to shop fo r assisted living for her,, teh wonderful place right across the road from m street will not have an opening for two weeks, so it will probably be the one way across town,,,

this is wha tI do in my SPARE TIME!!
I am liking my thermal back brace so far,, helping with the spinal arthritis an d fibromyalgia somewhat,,,
going to bite the bullet and start taking the pain pill )Rx) when I go to bed..

good luck Pickie! This is such a hard step to take, especially with everything else your battling. Remember how your mom is feeling and how she's probably scared and angry about losing independence. I hope it goes well, you'll be in my prayers.

Sends fed ex to you with a box of boxing gloves for the visit with your mom.

Be careful with the pain pills. they can also rob you of your much needed sleep.
Hugs and good luck tomorrow.

Lin good luck with your Mom,these homes usually have a lot of activities to keep the residents occupied. I'm sure you are prepared to deal with resistance. It is time to take care of Lin and let someone else deal with Mom. You may find that with the reduced stress level you will start to feel better.
keeping you in thought and prayer for a smooth transition.

    Sounds like great plan LINDA.
Make sure you have a good discussion with the SW.
Hoping all goes well tomorrow. Have you ever visited the close by facility to see what it looks like?
I guess it could be some protection if you have to go across town to see her. Is it anywhere near her own house?'

Went to rheumatologist today instead of projected appointment next month: they had a cancellation so I went,,
guess it is better to get the bad news early..
I first went to the eye doc for new glasses last year,:he told me I have cataracts.
Next was the family doc for hand pain:found out I probably had carpal tunnel..he referred me to neurosurgeon: that guy wanted me to see a rheumatologist and get an MRI before surgery to rule out something else going on in my body to cause all the pain and things,,
Big news from the rheumatologist: NO, I do not have rheumatoid arthritis,YET, do have severe arthritis, osteoporosis, bursitis in both knees, and the best part: I have fibromyalgia!!
I have had the symptoms and pain for over fifteen years, but with everything else going wrong, it never got diagnosed as this..
So now instead of getting off some meds, I am now on three more Rx's,, he ordered a dozen blood tests, a whole page of xrays,,
So I am not having carpal tunnel surgery,, yet,, he also told me that diabetes can cause this,, tee-riff-ick! Also, while I was sat the doctors,. again the nursing home called to tell us mom's rehab is finished, she can leave,,

that call return will be tomorrow,, after work,, oh, I also was supposed to buy a back brace(which I did, insurance does not cover it) and special arch supports(not covered either) but did not purchase them,, cannot afford this,, will have to pay most of all the tests he ordered too..
I already wear WALKFIT insoles, they are miracle workers,,
so that is my wonderful day,,
I am so glad it was not worse, but those two diagnoses threw me for a loop..
I told him that the bright side to all this is: I cannot get prostate or testicular cancer !
