14 days, two weeks to go now!

Thursday, August 02, 2012

Another steambath day out there,, just enough rain to steam the air,,,, tomorrow is another one like it,, storms and 90 degrees..
I have a three day weekend so I am gathering things to take to dads house for sale, cleaning, sorting drawers, making appointments.
I am trying not to gorge on the fresh fruits and veggies too much, cannot get enough of the cantaloupe and pears, radishes, scallions, grapes, nanners, peaches,, I could just eat them instead of a balanced meal!

Going to go get some time in strength training, will be gone all day tomorrow with appointments and visiting my friend..

I can and sometimes do just eat my fruit and veggies but then I don't get enough calories for the day. UGH!!! So glad you are getting everything ready for your vacation!

Hmmm sounds like someone's counting days.

90 degrees and storms? like wow! We have pleasant 76 degrees here and I'll be walking out in it and learning the buses this afternoon.

15 days until..

Wednesday, August 01, 2012

Wow!! What day is it? What time is it? Who, wha ???????????

Groggily, I woke up in the chair suddenly after a little 2 1/2 hour eye-rest. Hmmm,, guess I need time off worse than I thought... Stopped at the bank after work, had a snack, decided to rest a few minutes in the recliner,,, 2 P.M???????????????????????
Showering helped a little, but It was like somebody slipped me a Mickey,,

I have been trying to eat more raw fruits and veggies,, I sliced up a cantaloupe, have two more in the wings,, I might make a jello dessert out of one,,
I cut the melon open horizontally, scoop out seeds, make sure melon halves lie flat on cookie sheet, then fill with my favorite flavor jello,, usually raspberry or peach,, put them in the fridge until jello is set, then slice melon into desired thickness and serve with fresh raspberries or sliced peach on top!! Delish!

I have another jello dessert I prepare all year round.. I open a can of pineapple, drain it completely, no juice at all in can,, takes about a half hour, upside down in my colander with a bowl underneath,, save the juice to add to my O.J later,,
I make desired flavor of jello with slightly less water than required to make up for juicy fruit in the can,, pour jello in can and set in fridge until it is set. Flip can over and open the end and set on shallow bowl or plate,, slice into one-slice servings...
Nowadays, the cans are not able to be opened on one end, so I set the whole can in warm water and let it unset slightly, then flip the can.. cool looking and so easy,, garnish slices any way you wish..

You sound like you can use a vacation.

I suppose the jello sounds okay but i'm not a jello eater at all.

16 days to go

Tuesday, July 31, 2012

Today was an exceptionally physically hard day at work,, so bad that I kept taking my pulse, my heart rate was above 120 or more for over five hours straight!

My home is my only oasis, so when I arrived after work, DD had lunch in the oven,, not what I planned on eating, but I decided to bake an apple pie while the oven was hot.
Debbieanne, you asked about the cheese sticks:Fit and Active,,, is the name of them,, Aldi's healthy brand is called that.. I buy them freeze them and take one each day to work in case I have a reaction,,

I loved them when on vacation, because when I hiked through the forest to the Falls, I had snacks packed, but the old stand-by was the sticks,, poeple even asked me where i go tthem,,

I feel some sense of accomplishment today,, got all of my bills paid, I owe NOBODY in the world anything,, I am finishing the laundry, baked a pie, made a hair appointment for Aug 11, made a car appt. for Friday morning.. Mike checks Vito over before my trip every year,, then I head over to teh tire store on Saturday and have them check and/or rotate my tires.. got my gas cans all filled for a fillup before we leave, ,,

all we need are some last minute foods, lithium batteries for the camera, clear out and organize my trunk, wrap Christmas gifts for Connie and her kids to take up to Munising ,,
pre-cook spuds, bacon, eggs and ground sirloin for trip..
We have all of our clothing, DVD's CD's, just have to pack it up and start our engines..

17 days left...

Monday, July 30, 2012

Today was a short workday, but we hit the road to run yet more errands after work.
First stop hauling another load to dad's house for sale,,then on to credit union for deposits, onward and upward to ALdi for fresh melons and my mozzarella cheese sticks.. Nothing stops a reaction better than that, one 50 calorie stick..
across the parking lot to the store to buy DD anew pair of shorts,, I handed down most of mine to her, she has worn them threadbare too..
next stop a couple miles down the road to the nursery to pay the balance on my landscaping bill.
Back home to pay bills, start packing foods and toiletries for trip, checking off on list I made.
One and a half weeks left and I still have to make a car checkup appointment and take car to get tires checked this Saturday morning when the store opens,, hair appointment,,etc..
by the time I leave, I am way overdue for the vacation.. Nice thing this year,,DD helping to drive,, I have not seen the scenery in over twenty five years without stopping the car..

what brand are the cheese sticks? 50 calories is darn good deal.

What size shorts does DD wear? I have some but it's always too cold to wear them.

18 days to go..

Sunday, July 29, 2012

Another beautiful summer day here, still humid, but only in mid 89 degree range,,
DD and I went to a neighbor's bridal shower, I was a good girl there too,, they had choices of chicken salad or ham or turkey sandwiches.. I chose the latter,, no dessert, but fresh fruit spears, bottled water instead of any punch or pop. No snacks or pastries either..

I hope everybody is having a nice weekend,, better weather and time with family and friends..
