40 days to go!!!!!!

Saturday, July 07, 2012

Big joke on Linda: I popped my head out the patio door at 8:30 am,, thought it was going to be bearable today,, two hours later, the air steamed my glasses...
No complaints though, I have power, food, car, a/c wish I could bring some people in here from the power-less areas in the U.S to soak up some of this air...

Went to dads house to get some documents to fax: another glasses steamer!! about 110 degrees in there.. we had to do quite a bit of searching, were dripping with sweat, no, not "Glistening", SWEATING!!!!!!!
DD had Rx to pick up, we soaked up some cool oxygen in Walgreens to bring our core temp back down to 100, then headed to McDonald's to claim two free smoothies I had coupons for... that helped a little too..
I live on the west side of our city,, it is almost deserted... Tonight is the largest fireworks display in the state, about two miles from my home,, the city swells from about 30,00 people, to over 250,000!!!! The air is still too humid to really spend any time outdoors..

We will start organizing our food and other things to pack to take on vacation tomorrow..
Last year I had the car packed to the ceiling,, with another person, I will have to do some really creative packing!!!!
I do have the advantage of knowing exactly what is in the cabins this time, also grilled owners about different things in a two bedroom cabin,,,
I am definitely taking my moose-proof,bear-proof undies this time.. that close encounter last year got me moving through the forest faster than I have moved since I was at a 75% off sale at Lord and Taylor's on New Years Eve in the 80's!!!!

41 more days..

Friday, July 06, 2012

Hopefully, this is our last day with over 100 degrees heat index and 100% humidity... Add 30 degrees to that temp at my workplace and you see that I am dehydrated within minutes of starting work.
We are hoping to resume our hikes in the marsh if it is not too humid tomorrow, it is supposed to be down to 88 degrees,, if not, we can work out indoors.. I have paperwork to get from parents house to fax to insurance agent, hope that house is not a steam bath when I open the door..

I am praying for all the people who still have no power in their homes, and ar estaying in gyms, churches, stores,etc.. we need to never take for granted, those things that we have ALMOST every day... power, health, home, mobility, safety...

Being thankful sets us on the right path each day. Still praying for those without power, etc. that they will soon be able to return to their homes. We have another day of extreme weather. Tomorrow the actual temperature is supposed to be in the high 90s with the heat index above 104 degrees. Unbelievable.
Enjoy your weekend.

42 days until vacation

Thursday, July 05, 2012

I finally put my name in the days off book for our vacation time! Boss does not put the whole summer in at once or the same people will take all the days for themselves.. there are only four slots for each weekday and three for weekend days.. I do not work weekends, so that is a moot point for me,, but still glad I got my name in there.. The month is almost all filled up and they just opened the book three days ago!

I met with my insurance guy today to get parents home put on this insurance company. THe company, Hine Knopp, had been parents insurer for the past forty years,, last weekend I called to ask agent if he would go over policy with me, he refused,, ,, I called my insurer that I just switched to,, he was very happy to go over it, explain it and now the parents home is insured in my name,, I saved mom $200 and got her a LOT more coverage on her home and some riders.
Paybacks are hell.. hormonal Harry lost a big account, we saved $$ and new agent is nice, happy to accommodate and has three new accounts!! emoticon

I hope everyone remembers what today is about, not colored bombs exploding in the sky just to look at.. but sacrifices made by armed forces, their families, friends. Sacrifices of time, talents, lives,, jobs, limbs, sanity,, all so that you and I are not bowing and scraping to a first century mentality governing body.
We can drive anywhere in our country, eat, drink, drive, watch and worship, anything we want to,, because of all of them from the Revolutionary war to present.. stop for at least one minute today and personally thank them,, silently or walk up to a live vet and thank them,, they did what they did because they think as much, or more, of you, than they do of themselves..
Thank them for being unselfish...

Tuesday, July 03, 2012

I finally posted a vlog yesterday, a big deal fo rme,, check it out!! look over yesterdays blogs and see I did two, one a vlog.

today we are having thunderstorms, knocking power out, hope to get essentials done before it happens again,, I was up at three for work, got home after nine,,
I rushed home, changed clothes, ran errands to parents bank, my credit union, then to pick up a Rx.. I was afraid the power would go out again and nobody would have computers working..

Got little sleep last night, so will be in early tonight!! We have 100% humidity, 95 degrees,.. not a day for outdoors..
uh-oh, I hear the loud thunder again,,
