One more Disney blog!

Friday, October 07, 2011

Okay, here's my final update from the Wine & Dine weekend :)

This one is more of a "regular" vacation blog, recapping the two days we spent in the parks after the Wine & Dine half marathon. Lots of photos included, if you feel like browsing.

Glad you had a much better race than last year!! :) You beat my time by about 32 mins! But I started back in Corral E to be with Andrea (I was actually given Corral C).

OK, thats it! I am scrapping Disneyland HM and going with this one. How can I not? I absolutely loved Timmy and his first racing experience. he will remember this for a long time to come. SO cute!

I LOVE LOVE your style of blog writing because you allow the reader to feel as if they were there. Because I know the layout of Disney World I seriously felt I was there. I still can't wrap my brain around running a HM at night but I feel like I need to experience it.

I am so happy you had a MUCH better experience with W&D over last year and that Disney listened to the feedback. That is the secret to their success and ther eason for folks coming back time after time.

All I can say is, I will be there in 2012!!

Back from Wine & Dine Half Marathon weekend!

Thursday, October 06, 2011

It's been a while since I've updated my blog here on SP, but have definitely had a lot going on! I'm in the process of writing up my race reports for Disney's Wine & Dine Half Marathon weekend (which was amazing, by the way!) I have part I (expo) and part II (Halloween 5K) done, and will be adding more entries for the kid's races, half marathon, and my time in the parks later on...

The cool thing about this is I can truly envision where you are at any given time. Awesome! For Princess we were nestled in the Music Broadway section and we loved it there. For Princess 2012 we will be at Movies.

I did not realize that Disney 5k's are not timed? hey, thats alright by me! With RunFisney, timing means nothing but the fun does! Well, there will be serious runners but not us!!!

Could it possibly be I could maybe sneak down next year to run Wine & Dine? Who knows!

Great blogs!

Race Report: Fox Cities Half Marathon

Friday, September 23, 2011

It took me a few days to find the time to get this together, but I finally have a race report from the Fox Cities Half Marathon, which I ran as a final training run for Wine & Dine, which is now one week and one day away! I didn't have any particular expectations for FCHM, since I randomly found it on the Half Fanatics race calendar a couple of weeks ago and signed up last-minute, but it was an amazing experience! Very impressive organization, gorgeous (and fast) course, wonderful volunteers and spectator support, really all the things that make a race great. (Yes, and the bling was nice too...) My plan was to take it easy, and I did just that...and suprisingly I ended up finishing only 19 seconds behind my half marathon PR. And, as with the Madison Mini, I felt GREAT at the end, not exhausted, not sore or in any pain at all. I am sure that the good weather and primarily downhill/flat course contributed to my success, but I also like to take it as a sign that I'm getting stronger and more comfortable with long distance running too...since that old PR is from 18 months ago and all. So I'm letting out a WOOHOO! I loved this race!

What great detail over on your other blog - thanks for sharing. I have a good friend (runner) who lives in Appleton - I just might have to hook up with her to do FCHM next year. You have enticed me.

Taking the plunge...

Sunday, September 18, 2011

I signed up for my first official bike ride! It's not really a race, more like the cycling equivalent of a fun run, but I'm very excited! It came with a 10 or 25 mile option (I chose 10), and is a fundraiser for breast cancer research. I think it will be the perfect introduction to cycling in a more organized setting with other people. I'll be doing this ride on October 8, the weekend after I come home from Florida. I can't wait!

Yep, first you register and then you have to decide what to wear. THAT is the most important thing! Have a blast and let the cycling commence!!
