Great excercise

Today I picked up my rake for what I though was the last time for the season. I finished the front and started on the back. I should have never looked up. The neighbor has a huge maple that has only lost about 30% of its leaves. The tree is right on the property line so 50% of the leaves fall in my yard. Well I guess next week when I pull my rake out again, it may be for the last time. Or maybe not. emoticon emoticon

    LOL Pat! Our neighbor has a magnificent maple tree. It takes a North wind to blow the leaves off. We live north of the tree so "share" all those wonderful leaves also. Granted our neighbor is sweet and asks permission to "take his leaves back." Always cracks me up. A good neighbor is priceless!

    As I was out in the yard tending "dog duty", I thought to myself..."hmmm, hubby should be able to mow 1 more time this year, lol!!!" I like to have a nice clean cut yard when spring appears... I cannot mow because of my back, but would have today if I was able. Hubby isn't home now for me to play dictator, emoticon .

I bought way too much candy
The kids did just not show
Could it have been the weather
The rain, the wind the snow
So, now what do I do with it
I really want to know
I don't want to consume it
My diet it would blow
So the next kid that rings my bell
Is in for a surprise
I will dump the whole bowl in and
He won't believe eyes
Next year when I buy candy
I have to have a plan
Who knew that storm called Sandy
Would be a hurricane

I dropped something off at my niece's house today and she was so grateful that our town has postponed trick-or-treating until Sat night as she and her 3 daughters had eaten all the Halloween candy they bought last week whilst housebound for the storm.

    Very clever and funn! I bought zero candy this year. Good thing. Rain is expected any minute so i doubt the 10-12 kids we normally have, will even show!
I would love to see the look on the lucky kid's face when he gets the whole bowl!!!! You will be remembered for life!

No breakfast or a small breakfast, which is better?

I was relaxing in my tub this morning and was spending my time contemplating if having a small breakfast was better than no breakfast. You may say yes to this question, but I got to thinking, Sparks must have a reason for putting 25% of your daily calories under breakfast. That is when I got it emoticon, breakfast is the foundation for the day ahead. Without a strong foundation, you can't build on that foundation. I was almost always starving by lunch time and I could have a snack then, but then I would have to give up my night snack. So this is my new plan. I will try to stay as close to my calorie, carb, protein and fat ranges per meal instead of per day. That way I an not starving at night if I have used all of my calories early and I am not forcing my self to eat too much late in the day if I have not eaten enough by the evening. I guess I should take more baths. emoticon Pat

    I think breakfast is important and healthy protein is a good idea. It will fuel your body and get you going for the day. Remember, you've been fasting all night while you were sleeping. Good luck with your decision! emoticon

    I think it depends on what the day holds for you. I typically push eating until after 11 in the morning since I am home instead of working. I try to extend my fasting like someone else mentioned doing. I think if you need to be alert and on the job, you should eat a bit of breakfast. I recommend 2 boiled eggs and a cup of black coffee. I am a big believer in minimizing carbs. If you like coffee, try drinking it black. If you prefer green tea, then go for it. Jillian Michaels says no caffeine after noon. Eggs will keep you from feeling hungry for quite a while and will get you through the morning. Good luck to you!

    since starting on SP, I have actually switched from high calorie cereal to healthier breakfast foods with an eye on getting some decent protein in the a.m. Then I wait a bit and do my exercise bike. I was told the protein was very important 'fuel' for exercising.I'm not sure if it matters, but I'm trying it. Good luck with your new plan, Pat!

    Interesting! I guess I never checked where Spark says to eat 25% of your calories for breakfast. Is that under their meal plans? I never use those since they lead to too many leftovers, and I tend to eat the same things over and over again anyway.

That being said, I AM trying to eat a bigger breakfast and lunch, and I DO find it is easier to curb calories later in the day. I used to only eat about 500 calories for B&L combined; now I'm OK at 700-800.

You are like Archimedes who was in the bathtub, figured out the theory of displacement and yelled EUREKA! as he ran NAKED through the town! GLAD that last part wasn't part of your emoticon !!!

    I have always enjoyed and believed in (usually a big) breakfast.
My dh never eats breakfast (maybe 3 oz of oj but nothing else- not even coffee).
But he will munch from supper until midnight- whereas I rarely eat a bit after dinner.
That being said, I have been dallying with 18 hr fasting lately (7-8 pm until 12-1 pm) a few days a week and I have learned a lot from the experience (still learning and def. not for everyone).

    I personally think breakfast is the most important meal of the day since you have been 'fasting' for like 7 to 8 hrs during the night, your body needs the fuel to get you up and moving for the day. Just my two cents worth, lol.

Sun, leaves and warm temps.

What a beautiful day. The leaves are near peek and the sun is shining through some high clouds. It was a beautiful day to go to the Columbus Zoo. I went with my husband, grandson and the girl across the street. The kids are both 6. I got in a nice healthy 11,000 steps. I love getting my excercise when it does not feel like excercise.

    It's probably a nice time to go to the zoo. When I went with a Kindergarten class, the kids were not as interested in gazing on the animals as running from exhibit to exhibit--me right behind them! It's good exercise to hang with the little ones!

    I'm with you on that! I got in over 10,000 steps shopping and helping the Hubster in the yard. It was a great day to be outside, wasn't it?? I was happy to skip the fitness center today.

Three month checkup

I go to the doctor every 3 months to have blood work and for the doctor to listen to my heart, get my weight and check my overall health. I saw her last on July12th. I lost 15 lbs according to her scale in less that 3 months. She is so happy with my blood sugars, heartbeat, blood pressure, 116/78 and my weight. I had my blood work done and should have the results in about a week. She thinks my A1C may be in the normal range this time. The best thing is, now I only have to go back every 4 months. That's progress. My doctor is going to log in to SP tonight. Seeing is believing. emoticon

Great work, and so happy you're seeing a medical improvement. People facing medical challenges need to know how quickly they can see progress, and hope for healing, if they just get moving and eating healthy stuff.
