Just say no.

Tuesday, August 14, 2012

I took my grandson to a birthday party for his friend. I was sitting next to the snack table the whole time. I did not put a bite of food in my mouth. I had a healthy lunch before I went to the party. When it came to cake and ice cream, I politely declined. That is when my best friend piped in and said "Why do you think she's lost so much weight. " That made me feel so good. Now I have saved room for the next birthday party, this Saturday. Mine.

Sliding down fast

Wednesday, August 08, 2012

It's not what you think. I went to a water park today. My grandson, Donovan, wanted to go on the Tahiti Twister. He did not have anyone to go on it with him. He is 5 and can only go on it if he is accompanied by an adult. Well, I am going to turn 58 next week and I had tried the slide when I was younger. I weighed quite a bit more the last time and had a hard time getting out of the tube at the bottom. Well I, being a great person, climbed up the 5 flights of stairs, sat my butt down in the tube and entered the dark, dark tunnel. After going down this tunnel of terror, I was able to get myself up and out of the tube. Yeah, me. I did not go for seconds as the line was 45 minutes long. All in all a good day. emoticon

The idea of the slide doesn't bother me as much (I AM afraid of heights) as the concept of having to wait in a long line for 45 minutes to do it. THAT is fortitude!! Very kewl, Pat!! Way to go!

OMGosh, Pat! You are my hero! Tunnel of terror is right. The only thing that could get me in one of those would be a grandchild also!
Glad you had fun! Lol! You will forever be my tunnel of terror hero now! emoticon emoticon emoticon

My personal journal

Tuesday, August 07, 2012

This morning I was in an office supply store. I was making some copies and brought my 5 year old grandson along. After the copies were made, we walked around the store for something for him. He saw some Angry Birds journals and pointed them out to me. I picked out his favorite one for me to start journaling. He settled for a Spongebob marker and picture set. I started writing down my thoughts while he was playing at the park. It was so liberating. A place where I can put my private thoughts. How fun, I recommend it.

It is very therapeutic to get it down in writing and look back over it later. I enjoy keeping a personal diary as well. Blogging here at SparkPeople is good too!

As of today, I have met my first goal of losing 10% of my weight in 4 months. My next goal is to lose 17 lbs in 4 months which would put me in the 100's. I am so happy with SP and all my SP friends. Thank you all for your encouragement and positive attitudes. This is the way to do it. No gimmicks, just sensible weight loss. I am one happy person.
