Here we go again.

Monday, April 01, 2013

Well last month after vacation I went to the doctor for pain in my jaw. My Doctor diagnosed an infection and put me on a 10 day prescription (antibiotics). I had lost 4 lbs from my last visit in February and I had just gotten back from a 10 day vacation. I finished up my meds like a good girl and one day after, my pain came back. Unfortunately it was Saturday and I could not get back in to the doctor until today. Well, long story short, another (or maybe the same) infection. This time I got a stronger antibiotic and was sent to the hospital for x-rays. I should have the results tomorrow. Well, more good news, another 2 lbs down in 12 days. I have not given up on my food plan or exercise regiment. Hopefully this time I can get rid of it. emoticon

My hubby just had his last antibiotic infusion for an infection that got in his blood stream..It was vancomyocin. supposed to be very strong. For being strong it took a month at home and a week in the hospital to get rid of it. Makes you wonder where all these infections are coming from. It seems more prevalent now than a few years back.
Hope you get rid of it for good.
congrats on the 2 more pounds down. emoticon emoticon

Loving the hard work.

Friday, March 29, 2013

I had no idea that watching 2 kids all day would be so exhausting. I now watch my 6 week old and 6 year old grandsons while my daughter and SIL are at work. At first I thought I would be having Wednesdays off because my SIL had that day off each week. But the day I started, he also started a new job with long days. Oh well, even though I come home thoroughly exhausted, it is a labor of love. One day, I know my grandsons will appreciate the love they were given during their formative years.

This labor of love really shows when your grandson WANTS to spend time with you. When he WANTS you to show up at his school functions and such. Years from now he will be saying my grandma did this with me, did that with me and my grandma LOVED me. You are helping to mold a well rounded individual! There are just not enough of those kinds of people. YAY PAT.

Your grandsons are so fortunate to have you there for them! I know they will appreciate your hard work and love! I think we forget what a demanding full time job it is to be in charge of little ones full time. I can only imagine how exhausted you are when you get home. What a wonderful thing you are doing for them and for your daughter and SIL! I know you'll have a very close bond with both grandsons And -- it sure sounds like you're getting some bonus fitness minutes in!

It's wonderful you are a part of their lives, Pat.
For them. And you (except that it's gotta be exhausting).
I get tired just thinking of watching mine for a few hours, on rare occasion!
Have to hand bit KUDOS to you on this!! ;)

I used to work in a daycare do I know about that loving exhaustion,. There were two of us for 30 kids. Most were 3 but if they were potty trained they sometimes took them at 2 and a half.
Have fun and look at all that moving you are doing.

Optimism finally pays off.

I've always kept my head up even when the scale would not budge. I was stuck at 197 for over a month. (Maybe I should just call it maintaining.) Well this morning, low and behold 196! It may not seem like much to some people, but to me, it shows that I can do this and keep at it for as long as it takes.

What a difference a new pair of sneakers can make.

Saturday, March 23, 2013

I have 2 daughters, one works out all the time but is still heavy. She eats right and is still heavy. She just had a baby by C-section 5 weeks ago and was back in the gym at 4 weeks doing zumba, hip-hop and using the machines. I know she will get back in shape after because she is and has been committed to good health. My second daughter is 23. She just keeps going up and up in weight. At one point she said she did not want to lose weight and did not want to talk about. She was happy with her body and did not care what others thought. I left her alone to her destructive ways. Well the weight keeps going up and up. She called me this week. She said she got on a scale and was disgusted with her weight. emoticon A light bulb finally went on in her head. I feel so much better that she came to the realization on her own. I told her I would take her out and buy new sneakers. At first when we were looking I was asking her what she thought of different shoes. Sneakers are sneakers she said. She found a pair that she liked and tried them on. Walla, they were the most comfortable sneakers she had ever tried. They were $80.00 but were on sale and I had $10.00 Kohls' cash, a $10.00 discount card on a $25 purchase, and I had a 20% off coupon. I ended up paying $40..00. She said she could not wait to go home and put them on and go for a walk. Yippee! emoticon

That's really good that she realized it on her own. I have
a son who is overweight and I did get him on spark and
started tracking his food. then he started working as a
cabbie working 12 hour shifts and eaating junk food I'm
sure. He's back at University now and today he showed
me a meal plan and told me he will do his own shopping
and cooking.
It's based on the Paleo diet, so I hope he succeeds this time.
As many times as we tell our kids, they each arrive at the
'eureka' moment in their own time and all we can do is support
them. I also bought him new sports shoes and I hope he will use
them too. That was a wonderful gift you gave your daughter.
Good price too. emoticon

It's a touchy subject so we just don't talk about it. She says she's healthy and I think, "for now". But she's a grownup and has to make her own decisions.

I'm happy your daughter is doing something positive! Those sneakers were a good investment!

Good news

Wednesday, March 20, 2013

I went to the doctors today because I thought I had an infection (which I do) but I was talking to her about my most recent blood sugar tests from a month earlier. Good news, she said I am no longer considered pre-diabetic. I also lost 4 lbs since my last weigh in with her. She has started to refer her patients to Spark People. Yeah!
