Spark Page

Monday, May 03, 2010

I have a tendency to change things. Approx every month, I tend to change my spark page to something that represents the season, or that month. March was a winter photo I took from up North in Duluth. April was of some flowers from the Winter flower show from the Sunken Garden at the Conservatory at Como Zoo. May is another flower I took from the Spring show from the Sunken Garden. I Changed the colors to represent that background design. I can't wait to find out what June brings.

May Day Parade

Sunday, May 02, 2010

Today I spent the day in South Minneapolis, celebrating May Day with friends. A great day with Friends is always the best medicine for happiness. I found parking a ways from the house, and even further from the parade. I grabbed the first parking I could find. When I first arrived it was sunny, with a breeze cooler than I like but I still didn't need a jacket. I arrived at my friends place, where they had some pre parade festivities going on. Mostly vegetarian food except the bacon log that was just getting cooked. I had my first Veggie hot dog. Thoughts on that is the texture is the same but the taste isn't all there but it was edible. We left shortly after that for the parade which we had to walk a little out of the way so we could get to the house that was selling Mango's on a stick. So my best friend and I got a mango each. YUM Mango's and at healthy. We kept walking until we could find a place that was good for viewing the parade. We watched the parade and went to Powderhorn Park, near the house for the festival. We walked around the lake there and on our way, temptation got to me. I bought a funnel cake and a corn dog. YUM but I couldn't finish the funnel cake, it was more than I could handle. I use to be able to eat those like no tomorrow. After wards we went back to the house and chatted, I left shortly after that. I had a lot of fun and got in a lot of walking in Minneapolis today. Plus I saw my first May Day parade which I found out on Wikipedia is one of the biggest one in the US, if not the biggest. For more information on the parade and festival

Looks like fun! My husband and I want to get over to the May Day Parade one of these years. :) We had planned on going last year and I think it was cold or rainy... I don't remember.

Goals for May

Saturday, May 01, 2010

My goal for May is to loose 5lbs at the very least.
Not drink pop the whole month
Drink water the whole month
Get a job
Go out walking more (despite allergies)
Sleep better

Just some simple short term goals to try and accomplish this month

Great plan! Best of luck! I promise you staying away from pop is going to make a huge difference for you since all carbonated beverages will make you bloated.. You can do this!

Best of luck in obtaining your goals! I think I am going to emulate you and start posting (and thus thinking about) goals for each month.

Get Back UP

Thursday, April 29, 2010

I was listening to the local Christian station tonight and I heard this song, which I recognized right away as Toby Mac, being a DC Talk fan I can tell him and the others music right away. Anyway the song had some great words of motivation here is the part that caught my attention. Total words to live by

We lose our way, we get back up again
It’s never too late to get back up again
And one day you gonna’ shine again
You may be knocked down, but not out forever

To listen to the rest of the song or see the lyrics

April in review

Wednesday, April 28, 2010

It's that time for me, where I start really reflecting on what went right and what may not have gone as well this past month. I'm a few day's early but it's on my mind so I'm going to blog it. I can always add more another day if necessary.

This month I lost a few more lbs.
~broke a plateau
~tried new foods
~started going a bit more greener, and eating organic when we can afford it.
~moved out of my uncles and in with my boyfriend (officially)

What could have gone better
~I didn't exercise as much as March I made weekly goals but I should have tried harder I think
~I could have ate better on some days
~I caved and started drinking pop again and quit and started again.. trying to quit again
~slept better but that is more of other issues and ones I can't always control
~ not always as positive as I'd like to be

So here is to May where I am going to work harder on the what could have gone better and keep dropping those pounds

You are doing great! You broke the plateau, something I wish I could do, and you see how the changes are affecting you. Keep moving forward. Every step you take forward is a step in the right direction. We would not be human if we did not stumble a time or two. The true test is those, like you, who do not give up, but pick themselves up and keep on going. I am proud of you and proud to call you friend. keep up the good work.

I would be so proud regardless of what could have gone better. You even broke a plateau this month! That is so great! For me I think it is so much easier to stick with something if I allow myself to slip up now and then, perfection is just so tiresome ;)

And way to go on greening your life! Small measures add up. emoticon
