I get blisters all the time. I know you are not supposed to pop, but I do and get a blister band aid made by band aid. they are expensive but worth it if you need to keep working out. I also make sure I air out my feet daily with sandals and use powder in my work out shoes. emoticon

Tracking Calories burned.

Sunday, August 26, 2012

The tracker says if I jog 73 minutes I burn less calories than doing the Elliptical 60 minutes.
To me it doesn't make sense.
It is a LOT harder to jog. I really feel it. I have to jog up the widow Maker hill to get home.
The Elliptical is easy.
Jogging was 333 calories
Elliptical a little over 600.
The calorie thing on the elliptical says it is 700 calories.
that can't be right. First of all the Elliptical does not know how much I weigh.

I figure if i sweat a lot, get winded a little, and tired. That is a good indication that I burned a good amount of calories. I think the time and intensity is what counts.
Any thoughts on this?

I have found that every site has a different number on how many calories are burned. and I know that there are formulas that kind of stuff, but again are they they same? I say use the one on spark. And just go with what they say.

Cooking Shows

Tuesday, August 21, 2012

I like the Food network Channel.
I really shouldn't watch Paula dean cook when I am tired and hungry. She comes on here 5-6 PM, right before dinner. She is fun to watch. LOVES that butter and sugar.

How come there isn't a low cal/low fat cook on the food channel?

If there was one, I'd watch it. I have to admit that I've drastically cut back on my Food Network watching since joining Spark People. I just don't think I can spend a half hour watching some of my favorite chefs good great, and very fattening food without starting to get cravings. Most of the time I don't even think about the things I used to eat, but that would be harder if I were watching too many cooking shows. Good thing there's still HGTV!

there are some dieters cooking shows ..... their on in the middle of the night. so that way you can watch them while you raid the kitchen for all of the bad food that you can't eat during the day. lol!

I don't have Cable so I've avoided most of that kind of temptation, but Oh, I remember Julia Child in her prime, and PBS still has some tasty shows that could wreak a lot of havoc on my eating plans...

Did she not change her recipes after she found out she has diabetes? Or is that just something she does for herself and her family? emoticon
