Thinking back to changes I've made thanks to Sparkpeople

Thursday, January 22, 2009

I've been an enthusiastic Sparkperson for about two years now and have stayed at my goal weight for over a year. My whole lifestyle is much different now. I never liked to drink water, but I now make sure I get 8 glasses every day. I still Jazzercise three times a week, but have added a 30 minute walk on the days I don't Jazzercise. I used to wear size 10, but now wear size 6, even in jeans. I've lost inches everywhere and am much more fit and able to do more than I did before I started Sparkpeople. There's something about keeping a record of what I eat and how much I exercise that really keeps me on track. It's great to set a goal, work toward it and reach it, but it's even better to know I'll never "go on a diet" again.

It's great to weigh 110 (stripped)

emoticon In all my life, this is the first time I've managed to stay at my goal of 110 for over a year. I owe it all to Spark People and Jazzercise. By keeping faithful and accountable and keeping records of my eating and exercise on the Sparkpeople site, I'm not even tempted to go back to some bad old habits. Feeling and looking great is so much more fun. It's wonderful not to be ashamed of how I look in a bathing suit. I love just getting on the scale once a week instead of obsessing and weighing every day.

emoticon After 8 days of traveling, attending a wedding and a family reunion and not being able to check in to Sparkpeople till I got home, I was thrilled to death to discover when I weighed early the morning after I got home that I had not gained at all and am still at my goal weight of 110. I can only credit my daily walk, my trying out the stair-climbing machine in the motel and my sticking to small portions of food. What a pleasant surprise to find that I really can stick to my new way of life, even when I'm away from home.

8 pounds lighter

Tuesday, May 08, 2007

It's wonderful to enter the spring season 8 pounds lighter, with a smaller waist and hips! It makes shopping for new spring clothes such a pleasure and I'm even having fun altering my old clothes so they fit better. I'm going to "keep on keeping on" with Sparkpeople
for a long time even though I'm already below my original goal because signing on each day keeps me aware of how important it is to stay healthy at the ripe old age of 76.

Well, better late then never to respond! I just noticed your post and wanted to say, "Cool!" I am still staying steady, and have finally lost the pound that I gained when I started the medication. I have 10 more to go to reach my goal. Congrats on your skinniness!
