Still Tracking

Thursday, July 30, 2009

I am enjoying writing down the reasons why I am eating what I am eating. This morning while my oatmeal was cooking, I opened the jar of peanut butter to add a Tablespoon to the oatmeal when I ran my finger around the top edge and ate some right out of the jar.
I adjusted the amount I had been planning to eat to include that automatic eating.
At least I am becoming aware of these extra bites.

Isn't it amazing how quickly our extra bites add up? Good for you on honestly tracking it! This was a hard thing for me to realize that every taste counts

Here I am once again recommitting to getting away from 169-172

I am writing everything I eat in my book as well as on the food tracker.
I am trying to do my exercises a little differently.
I am getting up and walking around more. I try to take more steps to do the same job.

You can do it Peggy! Sometimes it takes a "starting over" decision to make the changes we need! I have to do that every so often! Just keep at it!

Will you still love me when I'm 64

Wednesday, June 10, 2009

I turned 64 today and I feel great! So far I have lost 37 pounds and even though I have been at a plateau for months, I know that the weight is going to start going down again. I have been gaining and losing the same 2 pounds for a long time. I am getting more and more active and doing strength training and I am really enjoyng it. I have been walking with my husband 5 days a week for 25-30 minutes for over a year now.
I belong to a womans club and people keep asking me all the time if I am losing more weight. I think my shape is shifting. That is a good thing.
Happy Birthday to me. I am really enjoying this birthday.
Thanks Spark People!

Good for you! You are doing great with your journey to better health. I found a bear with the song "Will you still love me?" Having a positive attitude always helps and the support of the family and friends.

I am just going to pick up my daughter Jenn at the airport and she is visiting with us in Florida until we all drive up to NY at the end of May.
While she is here, I want to work harder on my exercise and writing (in my notebook) every morsel that passes my lips.
When I use my food tracker, I usually put in chicken and don't inlude the bread crumbs that are on the chicken. Maybe it is all of these little things that I am leaving off that is really making my calories a lot higher than I think.
I want to be 164 by June 1st. I have been writing this # down for a long time (along with 159).
I want to get off this plateau and get to a lower one.

Enjoy your visit with Jenn, Peggy! What a wonderful time for both of you. I think plateaus are the bane of all of us engaged in this struggle with weight loss! Tracking what I eat - logging everything, even sugar-free gum - is really helping me. My losses are better when I do that. Since I'm limited in how much exercise I can do, that's important for me. You must enjoy your travels back and forth - sounds like so much fun! - Sara emoticon

That's a good idea - as they say - every lil bit counts. Enjoy your visit with your daughter and good luck with your journey.

Hotel Exercise Rooms

Saturday, March 21, 2009

Until I started with the Turtle Challenge last April with Crochet the Pounds Away I used to only look in the window at the exercise equipment.
Now I try to use the treadmill at each hotel we stop at.
I guess I am starting to like exercising.
As soon as we get to NY we have a bike there that we ride 3 days a week and we go for a walk Monday to Friday. It sure is hillier in NY than it is in Florida.

The "Turtle Challenge" with "Crochet the Pounds Away" - I just love it!

Peggy, WOW! Are you ever doing great with your exercising! It seems that in your last few blogs, there's a real and growing enthusiasm for exercising, for seeing how much you can do and where you can go with it. You're amazing...and very inspiring! - Sara emoticon

Good for you for getting on the equipment opposed to just using the equipment. I have no doubt that using the hotel fitness rooms will help you in your journey while on the road. I know all about it. I was on the road for 6 months living in hotels and I managed to get a few workouts in. Unfortunately, hotel equipment wasn't always sufficient for my weight.
