I am leaving for New York (state not city) on Monday and I will not be returning until the end of October.
I want to lose 4 pound while I am there.
by Christmas I want to lose 10 pounds.
I will take at least 7000 steps each day weekends included.
I will walk 5 days a week
I will do cardio 3 days a week.
I will do strenght 3 days a week.

Keeping on During the Break

I plan to continue on doing what I have been doing.

I just went back to Strength Training 3 times a week. I haven't been doing it since my first operation on May 22nd and I was just ready to restart when I had emergency surgery on June 11.

So now I am happy to say that I am starting in with strength training again.

I am also goin to get more steps in.
I get in about 6500-7000 so I am going to up that amount to at least 8000. I want to hit 10,000 but I"ll do 8000 first.
I usuall only get 4000-5000 on Saturday and Sunday because we don't take our usual walk that day. I will definitly make sure that I get al least 5000 if not more

I have my eating plan lined up already.

My husband and I both eat healthy already but it will be even betterWe are eating more fruits and vegetables and we have fish once or twice a week and we just started having a big salad, with a small piece of protein (tonight it's pork chop) This will be the second time this week.

All in all I think I have a good handle on things.

One of the things that they told me about radiation is that you will feel better if you eat properly and keep up your exercising. So I am listening to what the Doctor says.

Begining a new Journey

Today was the first day of radiation for my breast cancer. Only 32 more to go.
I think that I am going to keep a journal of my feelings about this new journey in my life.

This week I also found out that my sister Mary has ovarian cancer and she starts chemo tomorrow. She is up in NY and I am down here in Florida. I wish I could be there for her but come September I will be up there.

I am planning on doing my strength training at least 3 days a week. I have let it slide and I will get back into the swing of things. I will include that in my journal too.

Today in the mail came a package from Adin and I got a new book and pen that his Dad must have gotten at a meeting I will use that book as my journal of radiation.

Have a great week I plan on having one.

WE are writing a blog this weekend of what we have been doing and what we are going to change and do differently.

I realize that I am not on a diet. I am changing my lifestyle. Already I am finding out that I can change what I am doing. I don't have to eat whenever we have a meeting and food is involved.

OK I am reviewing what I have been doing --- writing down what I eat each day, getting my exercise, and plodding along.


I am definitely going to refocus. I am going to stop eating things that have too much added sugar.

No more ice cream treats even if they are only 100 calories. I donít need the added sugar. I will have fruit instead.

I am going to check the sugar content of all the things that I am eating.

I will use the treadmill more often. The Dr. told me I should swim if a pool is availble and I can swim whenever I want in Jayne's pool two doors down. I will start swimming.

    Great plan, you can do it. I give in to easily to treats and then the scale shows me what happens. We are in control of what we put in our mouth but I do enjoy an ice cream treat. Have a great week

Follow Through

I read this quote (below) this morning and realized that it is so true. You have to set goals and believe in your ability to reach them and then follow through. I think I have not been following through because I have not been believing in my ability to do so.
Times they are a changing. I want to get even healthier and take more weight off my arthritic hands and feet. I know it will only make me feel better. I am very active but I want to do more strength training. I have gotten out of the habit and I will get back into the habit.

I am just going to Follow Through WITHOUT HESITATION and Just Do It!!!
