Monday, November 28, 2011

I think that this is just what we need in the weeks leading up to Christmas. A challenge amont the team members to see who can lose the most ham.
I do not want to remain the same over the holidays. I want to lose some weight so that when January 1st comes I will be that far ahead.
want to join the challenge with us? Come on you can do it too.

Thanks Mary!

Saturday, November 05, 2011

I went to the Farmer's Market today and thanks to Mary who is giving us all kinds of information on fruits and vegetables I looked at a lot of vegetables that I usually don't look at. I bought a bunch of carrots that were all different colors. I used a red one in my salad today and it added a lot of color. I am going to cook them tomorrow to see if they turn orange or stay whatever color they are. There were even some purple ones.
I also got a pomello which is the original name for grapefruit. This one is pink on the inside and has less acid then regular grapefruit. It is huge. The man who was selling them said that you can candy the grapefruit peel too. I'm not too sure if I'll do that or not.
I got two big onions and made onion soup from the Spark People cookbook and we had fresh corn on the cob with it.
Thanks Mary for turning me on to new vegetables. Keep those interesting stories coming.

They are apparently a lot healthier for you and very tasty, we grew a few last year and have planted some more this season, not sure if we will sell any in the shop yet or not.

Sounds great Peggy! I never knew there were different colors of carrots. I love grapefruit but hubby can't have it so I don't tempt him with it. He loves them too. I love Farmer's markets. :)

Wedding at the top of Stowe Mt

Sunday, October 02, 2011

Well, we're back from the wedding. It was cold and rainy when we got to the gondola to go up the mt. It was 41 there and 37 up on the mt. We went up and when we got near the top the wind started to blow us back and forth. We got to the top and there was a restaurant. The wedding was supposed to be outside on the lawn but they changed it to the deck right outside the restaurant. The lady in the restaurant told us we couldn't sit in the restaurant we had to go outside but no one listened to her. It wasn't like there were any customers in the restaurant.

When the wedding party were on their way up in the gondola they told us to wait outside for them. We went out and somebody handed me a clear raincoat from the $ store. It was like a skinny plastic bag with a hood. The wind picked up at that moment and was blowing the mist sideways and umbrellas were turning inside out. We went inside again until we actually saw the wedding party and then we went back out. After they came outside we went back in and watched through the window. We were right up in front and could see much better than when we were outside. We couldn't hear everything but we could see and we were warm.

As soon as the wedding party came in the door after the ceremony was finished, I followed them right out to the gondola and we were on the next one down. Jodi and Dave were in the back and I called them up front with us. My sister, the mother of one of the grooms jumped on our gondola and she grabbed the photographer so we got to see the pictures of the wedding. He took great pictures. I don't know how he did it.

I wore my green raincoat with liner over my fancy wedding dress and shawl and I had on pantyhose and my black leather sneakers. Of course I had on a matching green hat. A lot of the women had nothing on their legs and high heels with open toes. They were really freezing.

Jodi has an automatic starter on her car so she started it from the gondola so it would warm up.

When we got to the wedding reception I changed into my sandals and switched to my black hat that went with my black dress. One of Geoff's friends even noticed that I switched hats.

The wedding reception was great. I danced for over an hour and put more than 3000 steps on my pedometer.

Now we are back home and all tucked in for the night.

Great Fireworks

Sunday, July 03, 2011

Jerry and I took Adin to my girlfirends for a picnic and to watch the fireworks. In his words they were awesome.
My friend has a big swingset in her yard and Adin and Bev's granddaughter were swinging for most of the night.
We had a great time.
