Now What?

Sunday, April 17, 2011

I don't know how people think of things to say everyday.
What's on my mind? Hmm.
Would you all please keep my husband Jerry in your prayers?
He is having a laminectomy (back surgery) on the 27th. Wow that is only 10 days away. He has never had any surgery before and he can come home the same day as long as he is ok. He doesn't want to stay overnight so I sure hope he gets to come home.
Then I get to be the chauffer for 3 weeks. Guess I'll be going to band practice with him. This should be interesting.
Maybe you should keep me in your prayers too.

Here I am again

Saturday, April 16, 2011

HEre I am again. We have to blog this weekend so I guess I have to think of what to say.
We just got off SKYPE with my 7 year old grandson Adin who lives in NY while I live here in FL.
He got new sneakers last night so he was running down the hall and zooming past the computer into the living room. He wanted to show us how fast they made him run.
He is such a great child. Even though we live so far away we have been in communication with him since he was born. In the beginning his mother our daughter Jodi put him on the phone every night and we talked to him. I would blow a harmonica before we said good night and when we went to see him the first Christmas I blew the harmonica and he came right to me with a big smile on his face.
I really like SKYPE because now he is reading us stories from his books and he calls and tells us what he is doing in school and we get to see his papers.
Can you tell that I'm the proud Granny?

I can picture Adin running around in his new sneakers. That's exactly what Ember does because after all, new sneaks do make kids run faster!! LOL

April 15th the halfway point

Friday, April 15, 2011

I always liked the 15th of the month and I don't know why.
It's the halfway point and I am the middle child. I always liked being the middle child too. I have two older sisters and two younger sisters.
I like odd numbers too. My kids always knew if I gave them two kisses I had to give them one more to make it an odd number.
Hmm maybe that is why I dance to the beat of a different drummer.
I'm left handed too and I liked that because it makes me different .
There I am, odd and different.

And you're funny, too! I like things in 3s and 5s, which are odd numbers. :--)

Six Months

Sunday, March 27, 2011

I made a committment to myself yesterday to start over. I am going to make an inspiration board that will sit on the back of my desk with things to remind me how great I am and how great my life is.

Six months from yesterday will be September 26th and it will be our 47th anniversary. I want it to be our healthiest one yet.

I will take a picture of my inspiration board when it is finished and post it on my page.

Adin (my 7 year old grandson) made a book for me for my birthday. He filled it with pictures and stickers and on one page he drew a jar and filled it with kisses. He told me whenever I needed a kiss from him and he wasn't here I could take one from the jar.

Last night on SKYPE he held up a small heart shaped key chain that you can squeeze and it lights up. I had given it to him and told him when he wanted a hug or kiss he could squeeze it and get one from me.

I'll write more later because we are getting ready to leave for Disney where we are meeting Joyce (JHopper) and Kathy (Waterweezie).

Re-committing, or re-evaluating where we are on this journey is a great idea. When we've been on this journey for a long time, sometimes we lose focus of the whole picture of what we want.
Thanks for reminding me to look at the whole picture and not just the week to week weight!

A jar full of kisses...oh that is just so precious of Adin and so thoughtful of him.

Can't wait to see the photos of the three of you together...what fun that is going to be!

Christmas temptations

Saturday, December 18, 2010

This came from todays daily devotional on my team Crochet the Pounds Away.

Today's thought: Make my diet important enough to me to keep me from temptation

This is so true. I never thought of it this way before.
All of my last months actions have been very important to me. I have been very aware of what I was doing.

Just because it is Chistmas doesn't mean that I should throw all of that hard work away.

I don't want to start over on January 1st. I want to continue with what I have been working so hard on. This is my new lifestyle. It is not a diet.

I have a plan. I will be skipping my everyday treats to make way for any extras that I may wish to have during this season.

I just realized that will make way for some treats that I only have at Christmas time.

Thanks Susi for always posting these Daily Devotionals for us. I really enjoy them.

Peggy, thanks for sharing. I have been trying to do the same. It was hard when I made all the goodies to bring to the nursing home but my prize was finally having one of the oatmeal cookies! Always been a favorite in my family.
