My first blog entry...

Tuesday, June 28, 2011

Hey everyone! Just thought I would try writing my first blog entry. I've been (re)active on Spark People for about a week and 5 out of the 7 days I have done VERY well! I'm super proud of myself! But two days I have overate and drank alot... Drinking is really what ruins my diet the most. Being hungover makes me depressed and both cause me to overeat. Also today my friend took me out to a nice dinner and I indulged in several glasses of wine (...several...) and quite a bit of fattening foods. I'm just trying not to beat myself up; we all make mistakes right? Tomorrows a new day!

Good for you for blogging about where you are & where you want to be. One thing that's helped me here at Spark and might help you is to just make one change at a time & when you feel comfy with that, adding to it.

And, as another poster said, if your friends are your friends, they'll try to help you become a healthier you.

Keep Sparkin!!

Congrats on your first blog post!

I like to say that a glass of red wine with a meal is actually good for you, but then again everyone has their own opinions. And it doesn't really work if wine is one of your triggers, like jellybeans or really any simple sugar is for me.

And right--don't beat yourself up. That just starts the shame spiral a la Stuart Smalley (lol I just dated myself), but do maybe try to acquire the skills that allow you to choose better. Could it be that some part of you panics when it thinks you will never again get to have a glass of wine or a decadent meal, and therefore when presented with it, gobbles it compulsively? I just mention it because I know I'm trying to undo that thinking myself.

Anyway, keep blogging! It helps! For accountability, self reflection, and attracting support from everyone.

It doesn't matter how many times you fall down. It matters how many times you get up!
