Happy Easter!

Monday, April 09, 2012

Hi there just thought I would share our lovely weekend with you all. The weekend was lovely had all our 'children' home and together which in itself is really great we need to do more of this!
My daughter Tracey bought some eggs home to decorate (made by Beacon in South Africa and we have to buy from the local SA shops around the UK) they are chocolate on the inside and coated then with a white sugar coat which is start they look like this

My daughter, her old school friend and my son's new girlfriend then had a crash course in egg decorating and I think they did a good job so here are a few that were made, let's see what you think!

I think for a first try they all did very well don't you? We had lots of fun on the evening, the Garfield my son made, the Irish womble my daughter made, Peppa Pig was made by my son's new Gfriend - they all had a go at each one as you can see from the tray....I made the marshmallow paste for them to work with and we placed them on chocolate biscuits whereas I usually use a sugar plaque if I had known we would be doing this I would have had more decorations to add to the items!

Goodbye March!

Tuesday, April 03, 2012

Glad to see the back of March, having been ill 2 weeks out of the month it was not the best for me. Still very tired but getting back on track. In being ill I lost just over 3kg (some I suspect may come back!)
But still lots to be grateful for the lovely spring weather we are having is great, out in the garden, setting out vegetables seeds, tomato plants (even garlic - not tried that before) peas, radish lettuce and spring big hanging basket is planted up and I hope will make a good show, still to do the small one. Have planted 3 new Lillies in the garden, a white, red and pink one, we have the bronze ones in another part of the garden. Sweet Williams, pansy, and primroses all happy in the garden under the tree. Impatiens and geraniums in their boxes - a job well done!
We heard over the weekend that our friends from South Africa should be with us next week so lots last minute small jobs to finish before they get here but looking forward to it.
Seeing my eldest daughter tomorrow as its her birthday and for a change she has a day off from being a childminder so a relaxed day maybe, maybe babysitting for her later so her hubby can take her out for dinner which should be fun to have time with the grandchildren....I have to show you what my youngest granddaughter made me for Mother's day

Made from straws and paper and cupcake papers so sweet, I had orders that it must be on my kitchen window!

Wow! Your garden sounds amazing. This year I'm going to plant tomatoes. They usually work out very well for me. Last year I tried cucumbers and lettuce so I could brag about a homegrown salad. That was the intention anyway but it didn't work out as planned. emoticon

My son planted corn and asked me to take care of his garden until he returned from summer break. Needless to say, he wasn't too pleased with me when he returned. emoticon

Then I had string beans by accident. I left the packaging outside in the rain. Some squirrel got into it and voila'....string beans. Then next year I planted them on purpose and...nothing. emoticon Go figure.

I hope you are making the most wonderful memories with your family. Tell your granddaughter she made the most beautiful Mother's Day bouquet. emoticon

And Happy Birthday to your daughter. emoticon

The universe's sense of humour!

Friday, March 16, 2012

Well I didn't weigh in last week as I had a virus...this week I worked very hard, logging all my food and drink, had the exercise bike each day for company! walked where I could so was really hopeful for this mornings weigh in...BUT....
Got up went and made tea and coffee went back to bedroom, weighed in the scales said .3kg (are you sure you can see that?) down, which I consoled myself is still down but won't believe it till it is still there on Monday...BUT....
Once I was up and getting dressed I stepped on the scales again (just couldn't believe the .3kg) and lo and behold I was now down to .7kg down!!
So your guess is as good as mine as to if I have actually gone down at all, or if it be .3 or .7?? at least the .7 would take me to next kg down...BUT...
In town yesterday I did have to keep 'hitching' up my trousers which I suppose means I'm changing shape at least....Think I will wait till next week to believe what is/is not happening!
Have a great weekend my friends!! emoticon emoticon

Sometimes the scale surprises you, and it's a good surprise. Keep up the good work.

weighing in!

Monday, March 05, 2012

Well 3 weeks now into my new regime and only 2kg's down! Grateful that is it a loss but wish the universe would be kind to me and let me have a little more especially after so much effort.
Decided to make Friday's my official weigh-in day (although I sneak on everyday)
So today I added a 40min walk with the dog, will try to do a little more each day and see if I get any better news next Friday!

Hey way to go. As we know any loss is a good loss! The scale can be such a bummer honestly..stick to your one day weigh in, it will be so much more fun in the end.

Back on track!

Friday, February 24, 2012

back on track and in the right frame of mind....cycling 3-4 times a week, Aqua fit once a week, and trying to walk as much I can without irritating my knee. Working in getting to the gym for what equipment my coach says I can use. Have signed up to the new scheme run by the local council called B-You which lasts for a period of a year. Did put back on 3kg, have got rid of just over one of them so hopefully this time I will break that barrier that I never seem to get past.
Spring is here and the sun and blue skies, nature coming to life with the daffodils and the lambs in the fields - really makes one feel like getting out there and getting the job done!
