$9 Million! Outrageous!

Friday, April 18, 2014

I just signed this, you should too.

Join me in telling President Obama to stop the revolving door and withdraw the Selig nomination.

When former Wall Street banker Stefan Selig was nominated for a senior Commerce Department role that is central to trade negotiations, Bank of America (where he worked at the time as a top executive) paid him a special $9 million "exit" bonus.

Even for those of us used to the obscene spectacle of corruption known as the revolving door between government and big business, this is both eye-popping and scandalous.

Go to the site below to protest this outrage! Or you can call, email or write the White House to protest this appointment.

YOU can help cut the military 's secret budget!

Thursday, March 27, 2014

I just signed this, you should too.

We should be drastically reducing military spending, not allowing the Pentagon to exploit a loophole that not only pads its budget but also cloaks how it spends tens of billions of dollars in secrecy.

Sign the petition at:

If you want Congress to cut back on the unconscionable amounts of money we spend on the enormously bloated American war machine, then take this action to rein in American military spending.

For more than a decade, Congress has funded the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan with a special pot of money called Overseas Contingency Operations funds.

As with most Pentagon spending, the massive Overseas Contingency Operations funding stream (cumulatively more than $1 trillion since 2001) has been high volume, but low accountability.

Now, with the Iraq War thankfully over and the occupation of Afghanistan winding down (albeit still too slowly), the Pentagon is using the Overseas Contingency Operations account as a slush fund to pad the military budget and spare it from the brutal across-the-board spending cuts known as the “sequester” that are hitting everything from Head Start to cancer research.

Tell Congress: Rein in military spending and end the Pentagon slush fund.

The official Pentagon budget request for 2015 was recently released, and in addition to nearly $500 billion in its base budget, the Pentagon also included a $79 billion estimate for the Overseas Contingency Operations budget.

This is a small decrease from last year’s war budget, despite a sharp reduction in troops in Afghanistan and plans that will leave, at most, 10,000 troops in the country in 2015.

Although the Budget Control Act of 2011 (the same legislation that gave us the sequester) nominally set a cap on Pentagon spending, Overseas Contingency Operations funds were exempted.

And so the Pentagon, with the blessing of congressional appropriators, has simply shifted tens of billions in spending from its base budget, which is subject to the spending caps, to the Overseas Contingency Operations budget, which isn’t.

We should be drastically reducing military spending, not allowing the Pentagon to exploit a loophole that not only pads its budget but also cloaks how it spends tens of billions of dollars in secrecy.

Tell Congress: Rein in military spending and end the Pentagon slush fund.

The caps on military spending were one of the few good things in the Budget Control Act.

We already spend far too much on our military, both in absolute terms and as a share of government spending.

And with the Pentagon budget now twice what it was in 2001, there’s a massive amount of fat that can be cut from the Pentagon budget before it even plausibly starts to endanger our national security.

While the fight to bring our military spending in line with our national security needs will be a long and tough slog, in the interim one step we can take is demand that Congress recognize the need to stop the Pentagon from turning what was its war budget into an unaccountable, non-transparent slush fund.

Tell Congress: Rein in military spending and end the Pentagon slush fund.

If your child is on drugs for ADD or ADHD you need to read the latest thinking on that.

Sunday, February 02, 2014

The following link is to an article about the latest thinking on drug treatment for ADD and ADHD.

Also check out the book: The ADHD Fraud: How Psychiatry Makes “Patients” of Normal Children by Fred Baughman MD

And this website:

This is a bit of what that website covers:

For decades, now, the diagnosis and treatment of Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD ADHD) has been criticized as a marketing ploy to sell dangerous and addictive Amphetamine drugs such as Ritalln, Adderal and Vyvanse to vulnerable children.

Reform psychiatrist Peter Breggin MD (2) and Pediatric Neurologist Fred Baughman (4) have written books, given lectures and devoted their careers to fighting the “ADHD Psychiatric Enterprise”.

They both point out that “Attention Deficit Disorder” is not a medical disease. It is a fabricated diagnosis made from a checklist of classroom behaviors such as fidgeting in the seat, not paying attention to the teacher, or blurting out answers, etc. all of which they consider to be normal childhood behavior. As such the diagnosis and treatment of ADD, ADHD is a fraud.

Dr Breggin and Baughman oppose the use of ADHD drugs in children, claiming the drugs convert spontaneous, creative and inquisitive behavior into pacified, blunted and stereotyped behavior. They quote animal studies in which amphetamines cause permanent irreversible brain damage, and studies in humans show no increase in academic performance or any other lasting benefit.

Please seek alternatives to drugs for your active children. Try the all natural diet with no artificial flavors and colors. Do the elimination diet to see if there are other "normal and natural foods" that your child is sensitive to. It could be one of the common allergens: eggs, dairy, wheat, corn etc.

Perseverance should pay off with a healthier, happier parent and child. Good luck!

Why you need to know about the TTP

Sunday, February 02, 2014

If you liked NAFTA you are going to love TTP. Not. Both of these trade deals are good for big corporations and bad, bad, bad for everyday Americans. You need to speak up now! I have contacted both my senators and my representative to tell them not to pass this. The following is part of two different emails I have received. I encourage you to find out more on your own and speak up.

Amazing news: we have a serious chance to beat the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and stop the biggest corporate power grab in a decade.
Just this week, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid announced that he opposes the fast track authority the Obama administration wants to negotiate the deal with limited Congressional oversight. This is great news: the TPP is being called a free trade agreement, but it's really a corporate wish-list attacking everything from environmental and labor rights protections to affordable medicines to internet freedoms.
But we can't declare victory yet: the House of Representatives is the key battle, where Republican leaders are still trying to ram the deal through. More and more representatives are distancing themselves from the TPP because they're hearing from their constituents, so we need to to keep up the pressure. Even if you've already made a call, please take a few moments to call your representative and say why you oppose fast track and the TPP.

The Trans-Pacific Partnership is being decided without input from the citizens of the countries affected. You need to speak up to your representatives in Washington to make sure that the people will not be sold out to international corporations. If passed as it is proposed it will give these multi national corporations power over our congress and over many areas of that will have negative consequences on our lives.

For the first time, actual presidents and prime ministers of 12 powerful countries are meeting behind closed doors to seal an extreme internet censorship plan called the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).
We know from leaked drafts that the TPP will make the internet more expensive, less accessible, and subject to censorship. Experts say, "kids could be sent to jail for downloading" and whole families could be kicked off the internet.
Will political leaders feel more pressure from industry lobbyists or from us? Join with RootsAction and OpenMedia in sending decision-makers a powerful message now before it's too late.
Here are our reasonable requests of elected officials:
Please say no to internet censorship.
Protect the right of everyone to access the internet in their daily lives.
Do not force internet service providers (ISPs) to act as "internet police," monitoring our use, censoring content, and removing whole websites.
Preserve the democratic rights of sovereign countries to draft their own internet laws.
Will you join with us now in sending this crucial message?
Thus far, our movement has stopped TPP negotiators from finalizing the agreement but now powerful interests are pressuring politicians to ram through their internet censorship plan.
Thousands of people and over 30 major organizations from across the Trans-Pacific region, including RootsAction and OpenMedia, are working together to keep the internet open. High ranking politicians from several countries are beginning to ask questions.
We know that when citizens speak out, decision makers take notice. Please forward this email widely to like-minded friends.

The Awful Truth about Cottonseed Oil

I think that it is awful that they also promote canola oil that is a GMO and made from the rape seed that is so toxic to humans and that Canada sells it to us but they are not allowed to sell it to their own people because of it being made from rape seeds and a GMO.. That is where they get canola oil from Canada. As for the soy that is GMO here in America and not good for the body either. The soy that the Asians use is fermented and not the unfermented that Americans use.
