10 minutes of exercise a day

Saturday, July 23, 2011

The desire to keep my 10 minutes of exercise a day streak going has been a very powerful motivator. Today it is 102 degrees and in my house feels hotter. No airconditioning in this heat is rough. I waited until later at night, and exercised with a turbo jam DVD for 40 minutes. While I did not walk outside today, I did my 10 minutes of exercise and more. In fact I have found that I almost always do more than the 10 minutes. While the scale is not yet budging a lot, I have more energy, my clothes feel loser, and I feel more motivated in general.

Go Me!!!

4 miles Yeahhhh!!!

Monday, February 21, 2011

This morning I woke up and did the full 4 miles of the Biggest Loser Power Walk DVD. It was difficult at times but I did it. Exercise is key for me in my weight loss quest, as well as in my quest for better health, energy, and positive mood. With this increased energy can tackle the organizational challenges I face in my home and life. Thanks to all the spark people out there who are encouraging me on my quest.

First day of strength training

Wednesday, December 29, 2010

Well I started the strength training today but was unable to complete it. I did not have a ball so did some modifications by doing the crunches and push ups on the floor and reverse flies on a chair, squats without a wall, and for the leg extensions on ball I did the bridge and held it instead. I only did one set of everything instead of 2 and used 8 pound dumbells. Wish I was able to do 2 sets but will have to work up to it. Was not sure how to modify number of sets on my workout log so will try to find out.
Accomplishment!!!! One set is better than none and it will be two soon enough.

On you fitness page where you select the strength training exercises you want to do, if you select change your settings and then select the beginner's challenge, these can all be done without a ball. I don't have any equipment at home yet so I used this fitness plan. Although you could just as easily add dumbells to it. Keep up the great work!!!

That's great that you DID it! Don't beat yourself up about not completing a second set: when you're starting out 1 set CAN be enough, the important thing is that you got it done! I know it sounds lame but: do your best and forget the rest! :)

New Beginnings

Monday, December 27, 2010

Today is my first day with SparkPeople and I am excited to begin this journey. I have established 4 goal categories for 2011. These are losing weight, gaining financial stability, organizing my life and my home, and becoming a better parent.
2010 was an overwhelming year for me and many things got away from me. My house became more cluttered, I gained many unwanted pounds, my pay was reduced by over 10%, and to top it all off, I ended the year with whooping cough.
I look forward to moving forward and meeting people within this community.

Take small steps and remember this is a lifetime journey, not a destination.

Whooping cough! You really did have a time, didn't you? You're in the right place, tho, for support and encouragement, as well as great information. And no better time to start the journey than this brand spanking-new year. Welcome to SP, hon! :-D
