Anyone have a cure for this? Every winter it is the same. Energy is at an all time low. I was easily doing an hour a day most days of exercise from March through October. Now I can barely do an hour or two a week...

This may be something you would want to discuss with your doctor. Maybe he or she can help you find a healthy solution. Good luck!

I have the exact same problem. I really slow down during the cold winter months. Winter is barely here and I am so ready for spring/summer. emoticon

You have to spend as much time as you can getting sunlight. I live in northern New England and it is a REAL problem here. Even if it is just sitting near a window, if it's not nice enough to be outside. If you google it, you will find other suggestions too, such as buying a special 'light'. Expensive but it may be worth it. Good luck! emoticon

Good shoes for running

Sunday, September 15, 2013

Heading south for vacation this week and plan to buy some new shoes specifically for running. I'm hearing Saucony is the way to go. Any runners out there that can weigh in? My current sneakers are not supportive enough to enable me to continue training for a 10km.

I really love Brooks. But head to a store and talk to someone and try some pairs on. How you under or over pronate (or are neutral) will help dictate a brand and will really help with the comfort of them when you run.

Enjoy your trip

Shin Splint

Tuesday, September 10, 2013

The 10k will have to wait. Shin splint after two runs. I need new shoes and will pick some up on vacation next week. Will commence training after I get shoes and all signs of a problem are gone. However my walking continues. We did 14km today!!! :) Felt awesome.

10k Here I come!

Friday, September 06, 2013

Found an app called 10K for pink which is a 14 week training course to run a 10k race. Ran my first training session tonight and love the app. I'll be entering a 5 or 10k run on October 13th. Haven't decided which yet but will continue and finish the 14 weeks of training and see how much my time can improve. I just find it more fun when I have a program and a goal. Only 12 lbs from my goal weight. Came across a pic of me from last summer where I was at least 50 lbs heavier than I am now. It was scary. By God's grace and power I'm never going back there again.

Congrats on your progress and good luck with your training routine. Today I started adding jogging intervals to my daily walk. My goal is to run/jog a 5K sometime this fall. Have fun with your training app!

So close and yet so far...

Thursday, September 05, 2013

Seems I've hit another plateau which is completely normal for me so busting into the teens will have to wait. On a positive I've decided to enter a 10km run. My very first one on October 13th. My time will be slow but I have started training and at least I will set my base time and have something to beat in the future...

Keep moving everyone!
