emoticon Hi Kelly
Yes, there is some effort required to move about the various links (boy would my deceased 109 yr old grandma raise her eyebrows at that statement!) and I must enter the items I eat, exercises/cardio I achieve daily. However, despite my busy life this seems to working well to motivate, direct and appropriately inform me of my progress. Goodness, I almost sound like a commercial for SparkPeople, don't I? I assure you that I'm a regular person that is focused on making a healthier lifestyle a way of life.

By journaling my food/fitness, I am more accountable to myself and aware of what I'm doing. I also think twice before I put something in my mouth or skip an exercise. I know I'll have to write it down later. I'm also sharing the info with two sisters ;-}. Because I do teach nutrition, I appreciate the sound nutritional information that I find on this website. I actually pass a lot of it on to my students, when applicable. I refer others (family, friends, colleagues) to the website because it does have something for everyone and it is free. This site is actually committed to assisting us in achieving an improved quality of life. How often does that happen in today's time?

By the way, your scripture lifted my heart. I'll go to your webpage shortly. But for now, I have a student assignment to prepare.

Good luck,

Influential Spouse at the dinner table

Wednesday, January 07, 2009

For years, my spouse has ignored portion control, food choices and nutritional issues. I teach nutrition at a local college. Over time, our meal item selections have improved. To my delight, my husband has reduced his number of servings, reduced his frequency of snacking, improved his choice of snacks, looks forward to fruit with each meal and goes to the gym or walks daily.

The result of this is that I am paying even closer attention to my choices. I'm actively using the SparkPeople food diary and fitness diary, blogging with my sisters for increased motivation and feeling better than I have in months.

I have to admit that his actions have positively impacted me and I'm proud to have him as a life partner. By choosing a reasonable, balanced nutritionally sound lifestyle we have much to look forward to.

    Hi Pam,
I'm new at Sparkpeople but am on Facebook so understand the social network concept. This site doesn't seem too user-friendly but maybe it's my inexperience. Has this site really helped you?
It jst seems like alot of extra work, but then again I haven't used any of the tools you've described like the food diary and fitness diary. are they easy to use?
Thank you for sharing an inspirational blog. My husband is my best friend too and it's nice to meet others who share a close, healthy relationship! (It is our 2nd)
Take Care,
Kelly emoticon
