Week 3 and I'm lovin' it!

Well today makes it three weeks that I've been plodding away on my journey! I am taking it one day at a time and thus far have not fallen off the bandwagon of my healthy makeover. I know it will happen in the future (just as I know my depressiono will flare up again!) but I am building a strong foundation to make it easier to crawl back on when it does. I've officially lost 5 pounds which is more than I ever lost with WW AND I don't feel hungry! Tonight I am going to squash myself into a bathing suit and go to a water aerobics class with a friend. Wish me luck with a) the bathing suit part and b) the stamina to stick with it! The sun is out today so I am taking my afternoon off and am going to pack up the kit bag and take my dogs for a much deserved hike. It is moose hunting season here now so we have to be careful where to hike but a nature park should be fine. Thank you to all who read my blogs and to those who inspire me!

    I am not a swimmer but a hike with the pups sounds like heaven! My older pup is getting a bit older (don't tell her) and I just need to make more time! Good 4 u!

    Congrats on your 3 weeks of healthy choices! You're doing fantastic and you're starting to see results. There certainly will come a time when you fall off the healthy wagon... the important thing is to just dust yourself off and get back to it! emoticon

I went to bed extra early last night and fell to sleep with my copy of "The Spark" in my hand...actually it fell on my head and woke me up, but you all don't need to know how klutzy I am! Anwyay, woke up at 6:00 this morning and felt good! After work today I decided to try out our treadmill and I'm very proud to say I walked 2 miles in 50 minutes. It may not sound like much to many of you but......
The Spark teaches us to visualize our goals and success so I focused on a lot of your profile pictures while on the treadmill. I could almost feel you all cheering me on and for that I thank you! I hope sometime in your busy day you knew you were being thought of!

    Okay, it seems I've mislead you! I wasn't using the treadmill and the computer at the same time. I have some of your pictures drilled into my mind and you act like my guardians, cheering squad, support system even when I'm not online! I actually tried out my iPod and was getting right into the tunes ....my husband told me later that I sounded like a cat with turpentine on its bum...oh well! Thanks guys though for being by my side!

    I do that all the time. It is amazing how I think of my spark friend and how I want to tell them that I made the right food choices or how I hear them in my head cheering me on to keep going a "long slow distance"... that is what I tell myself.

I'm so tired.....is this normal?

Hi! I've got a weird question for you all. Since I started my Spark journey I've been abnormally tired despite getting enough sleep every night. I've been doing this for about 10 days and I also went back to work so that might account for some of it. I've also noticed my calorie count is lower than what it should be. I know calories equal energy so that is probably it. Now, it seems I've answered my own question! Also, does anyone have a good idea of a high fat but low calorie food/treat? The last few days I've missed out on my fat quota as well. I hope you are all doing well at your respective stages. It is a dull day here and even my dogs are snoozing the afternoon away! P.S. I made the Chef Meg's baked beans yesterday...yummy!

    Thanks! I'm not sure what you mean about setting the fitness tracker. I've set it on mileage....ie....I want to walk a minimum of 10km a week (low, I know but it is manageable right now!)My required calorie range comes up on my nutrition page and I barely make it most days. Last night I munched on a bowl of oatmeal to which I added some ground flax and blueberries. That seemed to make a big difference and I really don't feel so tired today! I really appreciate that you take the time to read my blog!

    I use natural almond butter, 8g fat 90 calories in a tablespoon. Any nut will do, but you can only have a small handful or the calorie count goes up.
I LOVE baked beans!! So yummy!!
Be careful with your calories, if you go too low your body will go into starvation mode, and you won't be able to lose any weight. Also make sure your Fitness Tracker is set to how much exercise you are doing in a week so you know for sure how many calories you should be getting!

September 8 - Need to feel motivated

Okay, here is my idea for anybody who needs to feel motivated.,,,get a dog! I have two and to see them flopped on the floor with pure looks of boredom gets me off the couch and out for a walk...wtih them of course. When I see them after a walk....eyes excited, bodies tired...I think how much good exercise is doing to them...so why not to me too? Am about to head out the door....wish me luck!

P.S. I never wear my iPod when walking the dogs...after all, I think it is kinda rude to them...sign of a dog nut! I would also like to thank the ladies who read my blog and were kind enough to send encouragement! I'm new so I need all the encouragement I can get!

    Too funny. I have been terrible about walking my pups, long story but I never wear my ipod either. I think it is rude to them. I thought I could be the only one. :)

    So glad to know you are a dog lover too! Our beloved Peaches (shih-tzu mix) was our neighbours who adopted us and we loved her for 17.5 years. We had to make that awful decision in May. She sat on my knee when my husband proposed and she was our flower-dog when we were married. When the judge asked if anybody objected she barked! True. We also adopted a Pomeranian about two years ago that was neglected by his first two homes and about a month ago we adopted a golden lab. I volunteer with a local humane society so I'm an animal nut. Ours get walked at least twice a day and get off leash once or twice to play! I don't see the sense of having a dog or any animal if you don't interact with them!     Thank you!! thank you!! thank you!!! From doggie lovers everywhere!! Hope they get off their butts and give their fur babies all the exercise they can both handle!! A well exercised dog is a happy dog :)) And so will you be too :)) And not just walking! You can have fun too!! I haven't see a dog yet that doesn't like playing! Whether its a ball or frisbee toss, a tug of war or a good get on the ground and wrestle, they can't get enough!! So to love your dog is to love yourself and both lead a healthy, happy lifestyle! I live in an apartment so no dog :( but my sister's dogs and my mother's dog have adopted me emoticon

Walked 5 km!!!!

Today is a beautiful day so I finally gave up moping around the house and decided to take the hounds for a walk. Walked along a beautiful trail and was proud that I brought along water for me as well as the two monkey-mutts. Had a great day! Also weighed myself and I'm down a few pounds...yeah!
