Nephew's Wedding Day

Saturday, September 29, 2012

We're off to my husband's nephew's wedding shortly and we couldn't be happier for the bride and groom. My nephew had spina bifida and was one of the lucky ones as he's very fit, mobile and a physed teacher. His bride-to-be is lovely and they're such a good match! The sun is shining, on a beautiful fall day and we're looking forward to a great family day!

Haven't Blogged for a While...

Thursday, September 27, 2012

For some reason haven't felt like blogging in a couple of weeks as have been pretty busy. Now in between exercise seasons with dragon boat paddling finished and curling about to begin in about 10 days. Gradually switching over to a few new exercise classes and getting busier with the 3 curling committees I volunteered for. Choir practice started up after labour day as well which I'm quite enjoying. Hopefully I haven't committed to too many things but we'll see over the next month. Here's hoping I can keep everything in balance. So far I've been maintaining my weight and exercise which is one of my main concerns!

Golfing Today

Sunday, September 09, 2012

Our dragon boat team had its first annual best ball golf tournament today which I attended. The weather cooperated and the sun came out for about an hour. We were only playing 9 holes thank goodness since I haven't had a club in my hand for about 10 years. But I've decided it's a sport I want to try and I bought some used clubs on line which worked out just perfectly today. It was a great day for walking around a very pretty course and I enjoyed it so much I'm going back on Tuesday morning to play with the curling ladies. Unfortunately, we won't be playing best ball that day so I'll have to take a lot more shots.

The golf game was followed by a catered barbecue at a member's house and everyone mixed and mingled, played some games then had the prizes and trophies presented to the day's winners. All in all it was a great day!

Shout Sister Choir

Tuesday, September 04, 2012

A good friend and I signed up for the above choir and the first practice was tonight. It's for women who can't read music, don't have to audition, in other words, everyone can join regardless of their singing ability. The music selections are generally pop songs which I really enjoyed. Who knew that your voice was a muscle that also needs to be trained to reach certain notes and to sing without drawing a breath! I think I'm really going to enjoy this new challenge! The Choir Director is very enthusiastic and funny and should be a terrific leader. Looking forward to next week's practice already!

Another week goes by

Wednesday, August 29, 2012

Wow what a busy week and it's not over yet! I've been maintaining my daily walking so far regardless of how the rest of my day is shaking out. Tomorrow I have a two hour return trip to buy some used golf clubs/bag/cart as I'm hoping to get at least one or two games in before the end of the season. There's a Tuesday morning league that I'm eyeing for next year although the clubs and few games give me a head start. It's just one other sport I want to try and many of the paddlers and curlers also golf during the summer. It will get me outside, walking the course (if allowed) and I can benefit from the fresh air & comaraderie. Looking forward to it! Then it's off to the cottage for the Labour Day long weekend.
