As the summer cottage season approaches in a couple of weeks, I'd like to take advantage of the kayaks at the cottage as another means of exercise while up there. I bought a 2-hour intro to kayaking deal at one of our park lakes and scheduled the lesson and paddle this morning. Although a thunderstorm was in the forecast, it held off for the 2 hours and I got my paddling in! It's a totally different stroke from dragon boat paddling but pretty easy to pick up. The current on the water was virtually non-existent which made for an easy paddle. We spotted a couple of small turtles sunbathing on a log and a great blue heron flew by as well. Just a lovely way to spend a couple of hours on a Sunday with nature and some great upper body exercise thrown in! I'm sure I'll feel all those new muscles used on Monday! Can't wait to get up to the cottage to reinforce what I learned today!
