New Week and Time

Monday, March 14, 2011

Darn it! Getting dressed this morning I tripped over my purse and fell into a basket that contained among other things--a glass frame. Cut my thigh--it took 20 minutes to stop the bleeding. THAT SQUASHED THE WATER AEROBICS TRIP! Intend to spend the rest of the day at Social Security preparing for retirement. This WILL be a great week. Keep movin' and tearing up those fruits and veggies. We are headed for HEALTH!

Sorry you cut yourself this morning. I hope it's not as serious as it sounds. It sounds like you needed stitches. But I just love your attitude. Sounds like you already have your motivation, or I'd say to stop by and read the blog I posted last night.

Take care of yourself, Pat,

A NEW DAY!

Wednesday, March 09, 2011

3/9/11 Yesterday I was a dud. Today I feel great! I had a doctor's appointment so I could not go to the water aerobics class. I tried the elliptical, but only lasted 5 minutes. On the treadmill I lasted 24 minutes (2.8 mph, 1.3 miles). When I left the facility I could hardly feel my legs, but after walking around the grocery store for about 15 minutes, I was SPARKED! I love so much about this site. Sparkpeople is a place to find encouragement and people who have similar experiences. I also finished chapter 3 of The Spark this morning! I am on a roll! Have a great day sparklers!

emoticon on having a great day. I saw your Cherry Blossom picture and I remember when I went and saw them in DC when I was living in Balto. I have the Lincoln Memorial in the background of some of mine. They are breath taking to see in person. Have a great week.

Exercise--Sometimes a Bore

Monday, March 07, 2011

Exercise just isn't always a blast! I know it's good for me, I know it will make me stronger, but sometimes I feel so isolated when when I'm in the middle of all the noise. Today, I went to a water aerobics class. There was no music, the trainer had no mic, and she guided only one side of the pool in the movements. The side getting all of the attention was whooping and yelling--really having fun. I was on the dead end! We struggled to figure what the movements were--she was a new trainer and we were not familiar with her routine. I plodded through the water like a trained hippo and did not feel one smile. I'm not even sure I worked as hard as usual. I don't know maybe I'm just in a bad mood today. The rest of you SPARK away the day and let the rest of us feel your warmth!

    Hi Pat,

I'm sorry your class was such a bummer. That instructor needs some instruction, I'd say. The class I was going to, there is music that at least gives you a beat. The instructor has no mic, but yells loud enough that we can all hear. Of course it is a small class in what is likely a much smaller pool than you're in, if you're at a gym. But, imperfect as it was, water exercise is still the best. Any movement will help you. I hope when you go back it is better. Maybe that instructor was just a fill-in.

Keep going, anyway. I have to get in gear myself.

My friend, I am just not a person , who by nature LIKES exercise. Nope! That is not me. But, yes, it is good for us so it is something we need to do. I do find that the more I do , the more I do not mind doing it as much. And, I also have to admit that it does give me energy. My sister loves water aerobics. It is something I do not do. Hang in there....maybe the next class you take will be better. Like needs be heard so you all know what you are doing. LOL I hope your day improves and you find some joy. Karen emoticon

Just Startin'

Sunday, March 06, 2011

I love spark people. The new me wants to be healthy first which will lead to slimness. My daughter, Maya, spend the morning discussing our goals and sharing what we have found on SP. I am 64 years old--planning to retire this summer. I am determined to be around for the weddings of my grandchildren. My journey will be a lesson for the youngsters--don't wait until you are old--be aware of your health TODAY.
