Not enough hours in a day...Monday, September 12, 2011
Today was a lot better than what it usually is.. Mostly because I worked in a different department.. Not sure why, But I had more energy than I usually get when I run n 2 hours of sleep. When I get my full 8 hours, I usually get a little under the normal amount of work at my job... Today I finished what I was supposed to...and even helped out in other departments. The human brain will always confused me. ![]()

Ok, Due to my highly stressful and very active job, I seem to have found myself in a cycle that I'm pretty sure is unhealthy. ![]()

I've been through this before, not so much sleeping all weekend, but sleeping a lot to make up for what I missed during the week. Sleeping all weekend is your body's way to try to make up for the lack of sleep during the week, but it doesn't really reverse the physical effect a lack of sleep has on you. The only way to get out of it is to force yourself into a normal sleep schedule. If you wake up at 6-7 am, you have to go to bed around 10-11 pm so you get at least 7-8 hours of sleep. And you have to stick to the same times every day. You also have to make yourself your first priority. Then decide what projects you can get done after work and still get to bed in time. Everything else should be saved for later. It might help to save as much as you can for the weekends. When you force yourself out of bed at 6-7 am on the weekends, it will help you stay up if you have things planned for the day. It's hard to get started but you'll feel so much better once you do get into a regular schedule. If you have trouble falling asleep you can try taking some melatonin or benadryl to help you get to bed at a good hour. Just don't take the benadryl every night or you'll become tolerant to it. Getting enough sleep every night should help out a lot with dealing with stress at work too. Report Inappropriate Comment |

I struggle getting enough sleep myself. I took off a week, slept WAY too much and now I am trying harder to have a sleep routine. It takes its toll.

Stress is the leading cause of heart disease. Slow down life is for living not for looking for a way to shorten yours. Let those in you life take some of the home obligations and spread your workload through out the day. I have been there and done that and the only one who suffers is you. Slow down. Sandy

well...no. That does not seem healthy or normal. I know that there are ways and techniques for dealing with stress and for me a professional therapist helped me out greatly...can you find someone good to help you? Regarding your obligations at home...I guess I would try and sift out what is really necessary and what can be let go. Let some go if you can. At the very least, let enough go so that you are getting a normal amount of sleep at night. That might help you with your stress during the day too if you were more rested. It seems like you are tangled up in an unhealthy situation and need some relief. You are a person. You matter. I really don't know anything about your life but I do know that you are the most important one in it. No job or obligations should suck away your life. You deserve to have a life that is more than work, stress and sleep. You deserve happiness and time to yourself. I hope you can find a way to get it. It is possible.
