Binaural Beats and Brainwaves

Thursday, September 15, 2011

So I've been reading on Binaural beats for a while now. I have plenty of apps and audio files on my computer and iPad... So, what I really want to know is if they REALLY Workor not. I'm not noticing too much of a difference.. But it could be just me.
What a your thoughts on this? If you have any feedback or suggestions... Or even recommendations... PLEASE let me know.

Oh, and for the record, I still have the apps mainly because I find some of the tones to be relaxing (which is weird because some of those are meant to be energizing and mental activity enhancer.

I've been using them for several decades and find them helpful used in conjunction with subliminal messages. I've not had any major breakthroughs but it's gentle & relaxing so it allows the message to be better received. Funny that you said that about the beats b/c they irritate me so I listen to them subliminally. Several years ago I bought a subliminal program that has the binaural beats and now make my own wave files with nature sounds (like rain) or music.

I think it works better for some people than others. I've read about people having profound changes in their lives after using them but haven't met anyone except for one woman who said her meditations were deeper than before. I didn't have that experience. But it did help me to stop smoking emoticon

Not having done anything with this for a while, I'm grateful that you brought this up. I'm going to make some subliminal CDs for myself regarding exercise, healthy food & weight loss.

Good luck and keep us posted. emoticon

Never Doing Adderllin EVER Again

Wednesday, September 14, 2011

Wow... After publishing my last post... 15 minutes in... I remembered why I tossed this crap into the basement. I don't know who posts the reviews on Amazon, but some have to be fake. I've never felt so bad from a Dietary Supplement. I just felt jittery, restless, and extremely nauseus... It got to the point where I had a bucket next to the couch...
From now on... I'm sticking to diet and exercise...

Also, this one pill gave me one of the worst migraines I've had this year... Which is why I'm cutting this short.

I recall purchasing one of those meal replacement shakes from my local health food store. After drinking my first glass, I got a real MEAN headache. Don't know what they put in those things, but it's not worth it! The old fashion way of eating healthy and exercise is the key although it a slow and challenging way, it's the only way to achieve lasting results. emoticon

Was it advertised as a diet aid? That is never a good idea, IMHO. No diet pills of any kind for me. Nutrition supplements are ok but only when you add them slowly to be sure you can tolerate them

I'm lucky so far with a supplement I'm taking - but by all means, you're best to stop with that stuff - nothing's worth that kind of misery!

Found a bottle of Adderllin

Tuesday, September 13, 2011

Ok, so I was really bored and ended up finding a bottle of Adderllin I got from Amazon. (Recently they changed the name of the supplements to Addrenna or something like that).
Anywho, I've been on Adderall for about 14 years or so... and when I got switched to a different ADHD drug that isn't as good.. I remember looking for nootropics or supplements that help concentration.
Not remembering why I left 58 pills remaining (out of 60) in the bottle for months... I decided to take one (yes, i know.. i'm pretty stupid).
These ingredients are listed on the bottle:
Vitamin B3
Vitamin B12
Guarana
Bitter Orange
Yohimbe Bark Extract
Caffeine (80 mg)
Bacopa Extract
Acetyl-l-carnitine
Choline Dihydrogen Citrate
DMAE (Bitartrate
White Willow Bark Extract 4:1
Acetyl-l-trosine
Piperine (Bioperine)
Vinpocetine
Huperzine
-----
Naturally, I know like... 4 of these ingredients... I'll post my Log of my experience and thoughts.. So far... (its just now starting to kick in).. I'm remembering why I stopped, lol.

I've done a lot of research on good supplements for ADHD and I've found that B-vitamins, zinc, iron, magensium, and Omega-3 with a 4:1 ratio to Omega-6 can help. Ginseng and ginko biloba may also help with memory and concentration but I think how much they help is a little more questionable. Eating mostly protein and very little carbs, including fruit, at breakfast can help too.

I take a One a Day Maximum multivitamin and that gets me enough of the B-vitamins, zinc, and iron. It doesn't have much magnesium so I take an additional 250mg of magnesium every day (plain magnesium, not mixed with other nutrients). I take a 1000mg Flaxseed Oil supplement twice a day. I take Spring Valley brand because I found that it has the right amounts of Omega-3 to Omega-6, but I'm sure there's other brands with the right ratio out there. I do take ginko biloba and ginseng, but I'm not sure how much they help. I don't feel much of a difference on days I take the rest of the supplements without those, but I haven't had any negative side effects so I figure I might as well finish off the bottles.

Overall I feel a lot better when I take these supplements, with or without my Adderall. So they might help you too. They can all be found at any store with a pharmacy and none of them are too expensive so they might be worth giving a try.

Not enough hours in a day...

Monday, September 12, 2011

Today was a lot better than what it usually is.. Mostly because I worked in a different department.. Not sure why, But I had more energy than I usually get when I run n 2 hours of sleep. When I get my full 8 hours, I usually get a little under the normal amount of work at my job... Today I finished what I was supposed to...and even helped out in other departments. The human brain will always confused me.
Between working full time, doing work around the house, maintaining a social life, and taking care of my dog... There just arnt enough hours in the day to get just a few of the things I need to Do complete... I don't know how the rest of you do it...
But for now...
I sleep...

This CAN'T Be Healthy.... or Normal...

Sunday, September 11, 2011

Ok, Due to my highly stressful and very active job, I seem to have found myself in a cycle that I'm pretty sure is unhealthy.
For 8-9 Hours from Monday-Friday... I run (or walk) around the a medical office (barely ever sitting down or taking a break with the exception of lunch)... and find myself at such a high level of stress that I sometimes Vomit when it gets to be too much.
Anyway, From Monday-Friday I do nothing but Work hard at the office. When I get home, I have more obligations and duties for other projects to do, that I end up crashing around 2AM... and waking up at 6-7AM.
Finally, on the weekends... I usually sleep the entire time. I may be awake for... about 6 hours from Friday Night to Monday Morning. Does this counter-act the lack of sleep? Probably not... and I know this cant be healthy... so if anyone has any info or suggestions... please let me know... :D

I've been through this before, not so much sleeping all weekend, but sleeping a lot to make up for what I missed during the week. Sleeping all weekend is your body's way to try to make up for the lack of sleep during the week, but it doesn't really reverse the physical effect a lack of sleep has on you. The only way to get out of it is to force yourself into a normal sleep schedule. If you wake up at 6-7 am, you have to go to bed around 10-11 pm so you get at least 7-8 hours of sleep. And you have to stick to the same times every day. You also have to make yourself your first priority. Then decide what projects you can get done after work and still get to bed in time. Everything else should be saved for later. It might help to save as much as you can for the weekends. When you force yourself out of bed at 6-7 am on the weekends, it will help you stay up if you have things planned for the day. It's hard to get started but you'll feel so much better once you do get into a regular schedule.

If you have trouble falling asleep you can try taking some melatonin or benadryl to help you get to bed at a good hour. Just don't take the benadryl every night or you'll become tolerant to it. Getting enough sleep every night should help out a lot with dealing with stress at work too.

I struggle getting enough sleep myself. I took off a week, slept WAY too much and now I am trying harder to have a sleep routine. It takes its toll.

Stress is the leading cause of heart disease. Slow down life is for living not for looking for a way to shorten yours. Let those in you life take some of the home obligations and spread your workload through out the day. I have been there and done that and the only one who suffers is you. Slow down. Sandy

well...no. That does not seem healthy or normal. I know that there are ways and techniques for dealing with stress and for me a professional therapist helped me out greatly...can you find someone good to help you? Regarding your obligations at home...I guess I would try and sift out what is really necessary and what can be let go. Let some go if you can. At the very least, let enough go so that you are getting a normal amount of sleep at night. That might help you with your stress during the day too if you were more rested.

It seems like you are tangled up in an unhealthy situation and need some relief. You are a person. You matter. I really don't know anything about your life but I do know that you are the most important one in it. No job or obligations should suck away your life. You deserve to have a life that is more than work, stress and sleep. You deserve happiness and time to yourself. I hope you can find a way to get it. It is possible.
