PAULKNUTH won 1 SparkPoints on the SparkPoints

Wednesday, April 27, 2011

I got a few minutes before dinner so I bought Internet access.

WHAT IS UP WITH 1 SPARKPOINT. Seems that if i use the mobile site (app not an option - I use blackberry) - I get 1 SPARKPOINT. That's not even an option.

Got to go and get some points before heading out to dinner.

Just catching up on your blogs - it's funny - sometimes I get notifications via email from Sparkpeople about blogs posted and sometimes-not. Thank you for the goodies. Apologies for the delay in thanks as I haven't been on here as much as I should : ) Yes, not sure about the point system via the smart cells. I've gone onto the site on my Droid and it's a bit of a pain. Glad things are going well for you (minus this last din din, of course ; ) Take care~

DINNER WAS NOT SO SMART - I ate a cow. The whole cow - or at least that is how my stomach feels now. Best steak I have ever had. Cheesecake was out of this world. I ate my salad w/o dressing! Had lots of cheese though. I not sure how much light beer I had - the glass was kept full during the 2 hour meal - probably 3 glasses worth.

I guess Saturday - I need to resume MISSION 320!!!

Nice to see you emoticon You're doing a great job hooking up with the Spark even while away. I have heard others get 1 point before. I didn't think it was possible either. Have a smart dinner. emoticon

Hi Deborah - Good luck with Gismo

Tuesday, April 26, 2011

FPL is running a little late so I got a few minutes and I do not really want my blog streak to end.

My wife is picking up a foster dog (golden boy 3 yrs old) name Gerry. What kind of a name is that for a dog. Gerald is not a proper name for a dog. Her father is a Gerald. I know we are only fostering but the kids and I decided we would not call him Gerald. Nope Gismo was selected.

Wife thinks it is silly to rename a foster dog. Our other dogs answer best to "cookie" or "peanut butter" and their names are Reno and Goldie.

Hard week ahead - being wined and dined as vendors try to convince us to spend money we do not have on their products. Hopefully we will learn more about how to approach and implement this new technology.

Have a good night - Paul

Blog Streak Is In Danger!

Monday, April 25, 2011

Leaving tomorrow after work for Baltimore for a few days - not sure what my situation will be. I got the phone app on my blackberry (no they do not have a app for the Torch - some wimpy mobile site designed for normal web phones - bummer).

The points on the mobile site are half the normal site - you can and will get 1 pt on some days.

I have not idea how I am going to track food - I got an incredible memory but I'll have no idea how much the meatballs weigh or the shrimp or the lobster or the crab or the steak or so on. I'll make some good choices (one or two sausage links instead of the 6 or 8 of days pass). More eggs and less pancakes.

Sorry - I'm not complaining - SparkPeople is the most wonderful site I have every encountered. I lost almost 60 pounds and by June 15 will have lost 75 pounds.

Have a great week - and you can bet I'll try to keep the blog streak alive.

Live what Spark has taught you. No one loses all that weight without understanding what should and shouldn't be eaten. That's right, I'm holding you accountable. Meany me! emoticon Just keep moving!

Have a safe trip!

I'm with you brother, it's tough on the road. I got an iPhone at almost the same time I joined Sparkpeople and it's a life saver.

I travel A LOT! Most of the time I bring my laptop, but on a 1-3 day jaunt, I'll fly unencumbered.

Most hotels have a business center where you can get to a computer. As far as portions go, I estimate as best I can. My eyes are pretty well calibrated to portions from doing it so much. The other thing I do is to go to the restaurant websites beforehand and cruise the menu, look up nutrition info and order that.

Try this link as well. It's a good Spark Article on food portion sizing:

Good luck!

Just do your best. Being aware of what foods you are eating is just as important and knowing how big the serving is. Good luck!

Mission 300 - Failure is NOT an Option - 50 Days Left

Mission 300 - Failure is NOT an Option - 50 Days Left
Weight this AM: 317
Calories for Day: 1727
Exercise Calories: 317 (walk / run 2 miles - 30 minutes)

I hope everyone had a great day and got to enjoy time with love ones. I did.

The puppies woke me about 7am. I got up and fed them and asked if anyone wanted to go for a walk/run - the girls were too interested in the basket of candy each one got so I went back to bed.

An hour later Heather said she would - I got up and we went to the local park (fitness trail). We walked/ran for 30 minutes - 2 miles. Slower than I had expected but still it was about 2 miles more than I did last Easter. Home / Shower / went to church (small).

Home for light lunch and off to in-laws for Easter dinner. Have to love my wife - she made macaroni salad. We both had some - 1/2 cup each to be exact. My wife also brought some plain sweet potato (boiled and mashed - nothing added) for our meal. Everyone else filled themselves with pasta & potato salads and ham - we had 4oz ham, 1 cup sweet potato and 1/2 cup pasta salad. We both passed on dessert (chocolate cakes made by the twins). We passed on wine, cheese, crackers and everything else. It is so much easier to stick with a plan when you are not alone!

I had an evening snack to kick up my calories - 1/2 cup egg beaters. I also had a Snicker Egg in the AM and some graham crackers in the evening.

I wish everyone a Good Night - Paul

Great that your wife was so supportive.

That scale is ticking right down! Your goal is looking totally doable.

Happy Dance

Saturday, April 23, 2011

Great day with family.

I bought a pair of Arizona jeans size 44 (January I did the Happy Dance when I could fit in my 48 Arizona jeans). When I got home - I tried them on to see how close I was to being able to actually wear them. Well - I will not have to wait. I wore the jeans downstairs and showed everyone - they were not quite as impressed as I was.

The scales this morning read 318 before I went to the bathroom. After I went to the bathroom the scales read 319. What the heck - wife was a witness - the next time I got on the scale it read 319.7. Now my wife believes me that her scales are not behaving.

Really does not matter what the scale reads any given day - what does matter is the range is going down.

Have a great night - Paul

Sorry my wife and I get sweet on SparkPeople - we really do have a great relationship.

That is fantastic Paul! It is so great to get into a smaller size! Have you started purging all your too big stuff?

BTW - something really funny. Hubby said "hey I recorded a really good movie..I saved it for you to watch" and guess what? It was the chick flick you watched last week "My Life in Ruins" haha! I worry about hubby sometimes, I have caught him watching Lifetime too lol.
