Pink Glove Dance - What a party!!

Monday, October 25, 2010

This YouTube video is awesome! I've watched it several times and downloaded it to my computer. I just couldn't sit still in my seat and when all the caregivers and survivors come out in the last scene, I had tears! (I never cry!) Maybe only breast cancer survivors or their loved ones will truly receive the effect. Enjoy!

Back To Reality

Monday, October 18, 2010

Ah, the weekend is over and reality sets in. It's Monday: a new day, a new week, a new me!

The kids are coming for supper so I already have my SparkPeople Recipe for Unique Healthy Chili and all the ingredients assembled. Ate my healthy breakfast of 219 calories and had 4 of my cups of water for the day. Now it's time to get off the computer and get my floors cleaned! SP can be as addicting as eating! LOL!

    Yes, SP is very addicting.

You are doing good by being a step ahead of the day.

Keep up the good work.

Congrats on having a plan..... that will keep you from getting derailed. I hope you post how the your evening went and especially how you liked the chili. The weather is getting chillier and a healthy chili sounds like a good idea. Good luck!!

Wonderful day!

Sunday, October 17, 2010

Wonderful day with family and friends at a potluck picnic and baby shower. I joked that "celebration calories don't count", but of course, my scale will tell tomorrow. Still, wouldn't have changed today for anything!

As long as you are not "celebrating" every day, I don't see a problem. If you don't have the occasional celebration where you are gathered around to enjoy friends and family, I think you would be more likely to stray permanently.

I agree that 'CELEBRATION CALORIES" shouldn't count but as you say the scales gives you the bottom line. It is wonderful to be able to be w/family & friends at potluck meals (instead of at funerals) which is sometimes how we get together w/family & friends. Celebrations of new babies are the BEST!!

What's for breakfast?

Thursday, October 07, 2010

What is everyone eating? This is one of my favorites: 1 slice Village Hearth 12 Grain Bread with 1 tablespoon Smucker's Natural Chunky Peanut Butter, 1/4 cup Land O Lakes Fat-Free Cottage Cheese, and a single serve can of V8. Total 219 calories, only 9 grams of fat, 21 grams of carbs, 15 grams protein, 621 mg potassium, 13 grams calcium, 446 mg sodium, and 5 mg cholesterol. Delicious!

Blood Pressure Monitor

Wednesday, October 06, 2010

Yesterday I bought a blood pressure monitor and learned how to use it. At first I was using it wrong and got about 6 wildly different readings, so of course, I thought there was something wrong with it. HA! Then I read the instructions. The healthy eating since August 1st and retiring from my job have made a big difference in my blood pressure! I can't wait to show it off to my doctor during my physical in a couple of weeks! emoticon

I bought a ReliOn brand, about $40, I think, at Walmart. Even my husband is using it daily and he's on blood pressure meds. Good investment!

Which brand did you get? I've been thinking about getting one too. And good for you on getting you BP down! emoticon
