Getting Ready for Busy Week

Sunday, June 05, 2011

I'm trying to do as much as I can today because this week is a little busier than I had intended it to be. But I will take it in stride and do the best I can. What doesn't get done this week will be there next week when I won't be working. It's just a temporary adjustment to my schedule that I will deal with.

I've been trying so hard to find work that if I do find something long-term or permanent, I know it will take me awhile to get adjusted to the new schedule. I've done it before and I can do it again.

I Did Ask for It

Saturday, June 04, 2011

I know I stated that I wanted to stay busy for a few weeks. But I didn't expect quite so much next week. A friend wants to take me to a museum after church tomorrow. I will be filling in for an executive assistant that is going on vacation for the week. I start a new class Monday night and go again Wednesday. Tuesday, I am committed to an Avon meeting. Thursday, I signed up for a Bible Study Class. I have to get the closet painted in my daughter's old room before I can move my clothes from my old closet. (and then paint that closet.) So, if I seem a little scarce on SP next week, you'll know why. BUT, I am determined to spend a little time each day on SP - it's too much a part of me now to let a day go by without it. What I can't get done next week will still be waiting for me the following week. I've never know chores to get up and leave just cuz a person can't get to them right away.

You know what they say, "Be careful what you ask for". But, it's good to busy if you're accomplishing things and sounds like you will be... Remember to take care of yourself first...

You just enjoy the all the fun and business of your week, Patty! It's great to get out and enjoy it all! And, congrats on your job! That's great to hear and I know it'll make those other activities all the more fun -- by having a few less worries!

Sounds like a busy week! I'm sure as long as you make a little time each day for YOU (even just logging in here at SP for a little bit) you will be just fine! Hope you have some fun too!

Giving Another Employment Agency A Try

Friday, June 03, 2011

I spend all morning at a new employment agency. Let's see how well this agency can help me. I've only had one temporary job from one agency. I'll be going to an interview this afternoon to see if I can get a week's work from another agency. And, oh yeah, there was one agency that sent me on an assignment that was supposed to be permanent full time but was part time for two weeks. That one still owes me for my last day of work. Can you tell my confidence in finding a job is waning just a little bit? I realize the unemployment rate in Detroit is 12.7%, but I just didn't think it would take this long. Keeping my chin up, though. (I don't want it hitting the ground and scraping my chin - lol!)

I'm so proud of you for the good attitude you have for how many challenges you are facing...My best wishes go with you. I just found out my last day of paid leave will be June 9, so then I don't know what happens... We have a postal strike in Canada too, but I think I will be able to apply for unemployment on-line.. I hate the thought of going on it, but I am in no way ready to go back to work....

Good luck to you!!! My DH and our son have been out of work for over 2 1/2 yrs. They have so many resumes and applications out and no call !!! DH lost his job due to his plant closing down, son due to downsizing! Both of their unemployments ran out last fall. DH did get a job the end of Dec., pay isn't much more then unemployment was and no benefits of overtime. He's sticking with it till something better comes up!!! Daughter in law just lost her job !!!
Were in N.E. Ohio.
I just don't know what people are suppose to do !!!
We just have to hang in there, say a lot of prayers and not give up !!!
Again, good luck to you !!!
KEEP SPARKLING !!!
Love ya', Flutterfli emoticon

Schedule Change Today

Thursday, June 02, 2011

Instead of doing my usual running around doing everything, my plans today are a little different. My morning and night routines will be the same (fitting in everything I can). But the bulk of the day will be spent getting ready for and attending an Avon banquet. It should be a nice change of pace for me. I'm looking forward to it.

Have fun! I used to sell Avon too at one point when I was out of work and I met so many nice people, I kept it up for 4 years I think. The last year, I buddied up with someone else so we combined our sales and got the best commission, so it made it worthwhile for both of us.

Another Busy Day

Wednesday, June 01, 2011

I have such high hopes every morning when I wake up. I have so much that I want and need to accomplish. I've gotten a little bit done this week, just not as much as I had expected. So, I'm off to start my day and see how much I can cross off my list. Baby steps for sure!

It's great that you are waking up with high hopes. It can be so disheartening to be searching for a job so it's wonderful that you are still making every day count. Keep going! Good luck!
