Holiday Let-Down Blues

Sunday, November 28, 2010

I was so looking forward to having both of my daughters with me this Thanksgiving and being with the rest of my family. I really had such a good time. But now that my oldest has gone back to Alabama and I have to get back to everyday reality, I find that I'm struggling a little bit with the blues. I always try to stay busy on days like today, but there are still moments that are hard.

Maybe take a walk Patty and get moving. I'm in holiday funk myself and trying to shake it off. Let's move!

I'm glad to hear you had a great visit with your daughters and your family. Now that they've headed home, focus on the great time you had. Choose to be thankful for your relationship with them. You don't have to let yourself be in a blue funk!

I hope the Blues dont last to long. It must be hard when they live so far away. Just take it day by day and think of happy moments.

I hope the blues pass fast. Take it one day at a time. Glad you had such a good time while they were there.

Am I ready?

Saturday, November 27, 2010

The holidays have officially begun. Am I ready? Not really. I've got presents purchased, some of them are wrapped, but that's as far as I have gotten.

So much has happened to me this year that I feel like I need to re-define my holiday expectations. I'm looking at this as a good thing. I can let go of the things that really have no meaning to me anymore. I can create new traditions. I can explore new ways to celebrate. It will be a fun learning experience for me. I'm ready for it.

A Great Thanksgiving

Friday, November 26, 2010

I had a great day yesterday. My family is very close and it was so great to spend the afternoon with them. Time always seems to go by so fast when we get together. Of course, there was a TON of food! But I went into the day knowing my portion limits and I was kinda proud of myself for sticking to them.

I'm just trying to figure out how to get all my cardio in today, though. I usually walk. The weather isn't cooperation today, though: 27 with 20 mph winds. There is a mall close by, but can I get a good walk in there today? Maybe I'll wait until about 12 when all the early birds give out and/or run out of money.

Excited

Wednesday, November 24, 2010

My oldest daughter is coming into town for the holiday weekend. I haven't seen her since the 4th of July weekend and I really miss her. Tomorrow morning can't soon enough. As with every other time my girls and I are together, the weekend will go by too quickly. I know to cherish every moment we have together. I'm also glad we are able to pick up the phone and talk all the time. This gets me through until the next time we are all together.

Found: some energy

Tuesday, November 23, 2010

I slept pretty well last night. I woke up this morning with a little more energy than yesterday. (Well, at least so far!) I'm thinking yesterday was part that I needed the rest, part a change in medicine and part that it was a rainy, dreary day. Now to get busy and get everything done that I didn't do yesterday plus what I need to do today! I want to have as much done as I can so that when Thursday comes, I can sit back and enjoy the weekend with my daughters and my family.
