Last night was my first shift at the pasta production company. It was a very long and tedious afternoon. The machines made it noisy (great for my not-so-great hearning). No one but the supervisors talked to me. But I did get talked about by two line workers who were supposed to be training me. They talked about how I'm lousy at the job and that I will never last there. They also wouldn't let me practice much. It's a good thing that my skin has become a little thicker as I've aged. It ended up that I got sent home about 15 minutes before my shift was supposed to end.
But, I had a message on my phone when I got home and turned it back on. One of the employment agencies I signed up with has gotten me a temp-to-possibly-hire data entry position. It pays more money, no union dues will be taken out, it's just as close at the other place, and it's days - not afternoons! So, I will be going into the first company today to tell them the job is just not for me.
I know everyone has encouraged me along my road-to-employment journey, and I'm very grateful for that. It does make me feel good that all of you were right and that the right job for me was out there waiting for me.
