I Love Relaxing Sundays

Sunday, September 19, 2010

Today is another relaxing Sunday. I spent the night with my Mom, so we got to wake up and have coffee, breakfast, and a nice talk this morning. Church was uplifting, which always helps my spirits. I had enough points on my Kroger card to get $0.10 a gallon off of my gas for my van.

In a little while, I will be going to my niece's house. The family is getting together to celebrate my youngest great-nephew's and my mom's birthdays. It's always great to get together with my family. I do plan on eating before I go. I got a head's up on most of the menu and know most of the items are carb-heavy. I'd rather go full and avoid the temptations. I also know I can walk around and visit and play some sports with the kids to get some exercise in.

I start my new job tomorrow, so I know a great, restful day is in order for me.

I Finally Did It

Friday, September 17, 2010

I had two job interviews yesterday: one that I would have loved but was farther away and one that would have me doing things I'm not sure my back can handle.
Well, I got a letter from the first company yesterday saying that they had picked someone else. I gota call from the other place to come in for orientation today.

So, I have no choice but to start at the production job on Monday on 2nd shift. I just don't know how my back will react with my being on my feet and bending and possibly lifting for 8 hours. I did ask for a back brace.

I've decided at this point that I have to give it a try. I will continue to put in applications for clerical/administrative positions. If I feel that the job is putting my back in jeopardy (3 breaks and 3 surgeries in 3 years) then I will have to politely quit. I will at least have a little extra money.

It may get you through until the right job comes along. They say it is always easier to get a job if you have a job. emoticon emoticon

Good luck with your new job. Take care of yourself and keep trying for something better for your back. You are worth it.

Great attitude - don't know til you try and at least you'll have a paycheck coming in even if you decide to look for something else - that's one good thing about 2nd shift anyway.

Good for you. I hope all goes well and it's not too rough on your back. I'm sure you will be happy to be back at work, even if it's not the perfect job.

Scheduling Problem

Tuesday, September 14, 2010

I'm not working, but trying to look for a job is a full-time job. By the time I look at the newspapers, websites, and run down any other lead, it doesn't seem like I have time to fit in everything else I want to do. I have to get a handle on scheduling better now before I do get a job. Otherwise, I never will have time to do what I want when I'm employed.

You're right now is the time to plan. Your first priority right now is finding a job and it is easy to let everything else go because looking is exhausting. Take a little time for yourself today either at the beginning of the day or at the end but schedule YOU time. It will lighten the load because you are worth it and deserve it! emoticon

Relaxing Day

Sunday, September 12, 2010

I spent the morning with my mother. It was really nice to talk with her - just the two of us. She's going to be 80 in a few weeks and she's not in the best of health. So that makes my time with her all the more special to me.

The afternoon was spent with my daughter. We went to an "end of chemo and radiation" celebration for a mother and daughter that we know. They've been through so much this last year. It felt good to know that they were over one more hurdle.

Then it was movie time with my daughter. We haven't done that in a long time. I wish every Sunday was like this.

Update on the Jobless Front

Saturday, September 11, 2010

I had one interview for an administrative assistant position on Thursday. I felt like the interview went well. The downside of this position would be the drive each day and the fact that the pay could be a little better.

I had another interview Friday for a production worker position. It's close to home, and would pay a little bit better. But, it is an eight-hour production position where I would need to keep up with the hectic schedule and be standing, bending, and lifting up to 3o pounds. I'm hesitant about this because of my back problems.

But, I guess I can't guess about either one of them yet because I haven't been offered either position. Again, I am in the wait and see mode.
