Aggravated With My Computer

Sunday, March 04, 2012

I usually use Firefox as my internet explorer. It started acting up on my last night, but I struggled through it. I uninstalled and reinstalled it and it still wouldn't straighten out. It got worse this morning. It kept kicking me off Spark People while I was right in the middle of doing things. Uninstalling and reinstalling it a couple times did nothing. So...I'm giving up on it for awhile and going back to the old standby - the simple internet explorer. I hate struggling with my computer!

Me too, OMG, how smart everyone is. I just give up and let dh fix it...

Sorry Patty, I didn't realize the job feel through... What a pain... my unemployment runs out in a little over a month, so I'm getting STRESSED for real now. I don't know what I am doing wrong that I can't get a job...or I could say, their loss, they don't know what a good, loyal and efficient employee they are missing out on. emoticon emoticon

    How frustrating!
I always use Firefox. When things act up I..

Clear cache and cookies
update firefox
update windows
disk cleanup
defrag
CC Cleaner or AVG virus check
restart

If those fail I system restore.
Any or all of these might help. Good luck.

I'm an IE devotee. My kids use Firefox and Chrome and think I'm so old fashioned. IE is what I'm used to and it does everything I need. I'm glad it solved your problem. We've gotta stay connected to SparkPeople. Have a great day.

Rough Patches Always Come In Bunches

Friday, March 02, 2012

It seems like things go wrong in bunches in my life. In the past two weeks, I found I had to upgrade my Turbo Tax in order to do my taxes. So I had to wait until the new CD came and then re-enter everything I had already put into the system. My car gave me problems. My TV gave me problems. I ordered something from a reputable department store. I got the order yesterday only to find that they sent a kid's shirt instead of the shorts I ordered. Although I am on the credit card account, they wouldn't talk to me because I'm not the main person on the account. My Avon account got screwed up. The little things seemed to add up quickly.

But, on the good side, I was able to work through these problems without getting really stressed out like I used to do. I'm going to take this as a sign that my life is becoming more balanced and that I'm improving.

When You Don't Have Something...

Thursday, March 01, 2012

I can spend days not using my car and it doesn't bother me. But when my car is down, there's a million places I want to go. I have been reminded of this the last couple days.

The auto repair place called yesterday and said they were unable to fix my car (after they had it all day Tuesday). But they were able to diagnose the problem and let me know that they had received notices that some of the cars of that make, model and year had that problem and the dealerships warrantied them. So, I called one dealership. It told me that my particular car was made after the problem was found and fixed, so it wouldn't be warrantied. ????? It also told me that it couldn't get my car in until today.

I had a friend come get me and we went to get the car. We passed another Chevrolet dealership on the way there and decided to take the car there. They got the car in right away. It didn't take long for them to call me and tell me what was wrong. I got a price of over $650. My friend called them right back and questioned them about the warranty that was given other 2006 Malibu's. The price got cut in half. When we went to get the car, we were given a total price of even lower than that. Obviously, there was an issue with this model that year and somehow we weren't being told the whole story.

But, I got my car back and now I'm a happy camper again. Since the weathermen are predicting thunderstorms tomorrow, I can now use today to go do all my errands. When I don't have something, I miss it or want it. Human nature at it's best!

Good on you! My dd had an oil change done a few years ago and they forgot to put any oil back in when they released it to her. (If you can imagine) Anyway, they were lucky enough to have an extended warranty and got it covered.. they actually still have that car... sometimes things do turn out for good.

Still No Word

Wednesday, February 29, 2012

I haven't heard from the car repair shop yet. So, I still have no idea exactly what is wrong with my car or how much it's going to cost me to fix it. That means another day doing things around the house.

Today, my Avon order got delivered. So I know I will be spending time getting that sorted and bagged up for my customers. But I can't call them to make delivery arrangements because I don't know about the car. I will probably put some more time into doing Avon projects, such as writing up some orders that I've gotten since then.

It's raining this morning, but is supposed to clear up and be warm this afternoon. If that is the case, I will be able to walk up to the mall. There's a few stores that I leave Avon books at. And I have to get some batteries. My remote for the cable in the living room decided it wasn't going to work right last night. I have a service call scheduled for next Tuesday (I can't believe that they're that busy!). But in the meantime, they suggested trying new batteries. And, of course, I don't have any that size. But, the walking will do me good and get me out of the house a little bit.

Other than taking my car up to the shop yesterday and getting the mail, I haven't been out of the house. If I stay in today, I will probably start to go a little stir crazy. Why is it that when a car is available to us, we cherish the days that we can stay in all day but when we don't have that car, we just want to be able to get out of the house?

Sorry about your car Patty. Hope you hear soon. I would be calling and calling them.
That is me, impatient but the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Is that how they say it?

Unscheduled Change of Plans

Tuesday, February 28, 2012

I had it in my head that I was going to go out and search for new Avon customers this week. I went out yesterday passing books out and actually did find two new places to leave my books. But I could feel that my car was wanting to act up again. Sure enough, when turning into church for a meeting, I got a "power steering" message and it was hard to turn into the lot. Thank goodness I made it home without any problems. It was already after nine when the meeting ended and I was definitely nervous on how it would act.

This morning, I called the shop that worked on the car before. They scheduled for me to bring it in. Now I just need enough luck to get it there without too much trouble. I've got a friend who lives close to the shop and just happens to be working afternoons today. So, I will have a way home.

This does change my plans of going out again today seeking places to leave my books. So, I guess I will have some time on my hands to do some of my at-home projects that I've been wanting to do. That's one thing I can say for myself is that I always have a Plan B. Just wish I had a Plan A on how to pay for the car...

ups... sorry to read that your car is still causing you troubles. That is really annoying! I hate it, when I have to go get it checked or repaired. Hope the visit at your friends place was nice while waiting for the car!
