Exercising to prevent boredom

When I get bored, I have been exercising. This has helped me to lose weight and even helped the swelling go down in my legs. The more I exercise the more I want to exercise. I started out walking a short distance. Then I added exercises using 2 cans of soup. Now I can use 3 pound weights. I know this isn't much, but it is a great deal considering I used to just sit in my chair all day. I wasn't mobile because of a surgery that required some time to heal. It eventually healed and I can now do moderate exercise successfully.

To help prevent boredom, I listen to music and change my exercise routine ocassionally. I get bored easily so I may change my routine frequently.

I have, also, been watching my diet. I try not to eat more that 1000 to 1200 calories a day. I do not work so I don't require as many calories.

I have been out of contact due to unforseen circumstances, but I am willing to work extra hard to get into shape for next summer.

Unfortunately, I have regained much of what I lost while I was away, I need your support to help me be the best I can be.

    Congratulations on your decision to make yourself more healthy. And you gotta JUST DO IT for yourself. This SPARKPEOPLE program really works. You must log your nutrition, exercise and water and seriously set your attainable goals and work towards them. It will work for you. Keep in touch and let us know your progress.

Visiting family

I will be visiting my family for a little while, and will be unable to be on sparkpeople for a while. I will contact you all when I get back.

It will be nice to see them. I really haven't saw them for a while. They will help me maintain my weight while I am gone. At least I hope they do. Sometimes family can be supportive, but at others they get carried away. So I will try to do my best while I am gone.

Learning to tell Friends NO

I am just now learning to tell my friends No. No I don't want to go eat. No I don't want to fix something to eat. No I don't want to have a snack ( chips & soda). Learning to tell my family and friends No when it comes to food has been my hardest obstacle. Everybody I'm around wants to eat. Some are supposed to be on a diet, but aren't really. I have been trying to change the way I eat for a couple of years, but it is hard when everyone you know keeps pushing you towards food.

I have tried getting new friends with much the same result. They all want to go out to eat. I don't go out to eat very much at all. I would rather stay home, where I can control exactly what I eat. In this town there isn't very much to do and most of the people are overweight. We probably have more food joints than anything and they keep building them.

I try to stay away from things to do with food. Otherwise, I try to limit myself on what I eat. It is a lot harder when everyone you know goes for it, but I am trying to individualize myself from them and be a better person for it.

Facing the heat

I have been in the house all week. Today it is time to face the heat and go do something. I am ready to do anything. I can handle the heat in small doses, a couple of days at a time. I am going to my mom's out in the country. She will have several things for me to do. I will be glad to keep busy for a change.
