A Poem About Our Girlfriends......

Saturday, June 26, 2010

Someone will always be prettier.
Someone will always be smarter.
Some of their houses will be bigger.
Some will drive a better car.
Their children will do better in school.
And their husband will fix more things around the house.
So let it go, and love you and your circumstances.
Think about it!
The prettiest woman in the world can have hate in her heart.
The most highly favored woman on your job may be unable to have children.
The richest woman you know, she's got the car, the house, the clothes........might be lonely.
And the Word says, "If I have not love, I am nothing." So, again, love YOU.
Love who you are.
Look in the mirror in the morning and smile and say, "I am too Blessed to be Stressed and too Annointed, to be Disappointed!"
"Winners make things happen.......Losers let things happen!"

To the world you might be one person, to me you are SPECIAL!

Jack Daniel's Fishing Story

Friday, June 25, 2010

My husband is on a fishing trip with his brothers this week. I wonder if he has ever had THIS experience?????

I went fishing this morning but after a short time I ran out of worms. Then I saw a cottonmouth with a frog in his mouth. Frogs are a good bass bait. Knowing the snake couldn't bite me with the frog in his mouth, I grabbed him right behind the head, took the frog, and put it in my bait bucket.

Now, the dilemma was how to release the snake without getting bit. So, I grabbed my bottle of Jack Daniels and poured a little whiskey in its mouth. His eyes rolled back, he went limp. I released him into the lake without incident and carried on fishing using the frog.

A little later, I felt a nudge on my foot. There was that same snake with two more frogs in his mouth..............

I do know some fishermen that would be prepared to do just that.
Maybe that is what I have to do with the big snakes that seem to like my front steps and flower gardens. (not this year yet). Maybe if I share some Southern Comfort with them they will go limp. Really don't want to get that close to them OR share my Southern Comfort!!
Hope the brothers are having a good trip together!!

Problem Receiving Emails?????

Thursday, June 24, 2010

For the past few days, I have had the following problem:
I usually receive the 6 daily emails like Recipe, Exercise, Best of Spark People, Health and Wellness, etc..
Now I receive one or two and sometimes they are dated the day before.

I am NOT receiving any emails from members who are responding to my Blog or commenting on my Feed........no member emails at all.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem? If so, have you heard why this is happening or how soon it will be fixed?

Thanks for your input.

just an occasional glitch in the system from past experience. Usually Spark Guy gives us updates as soon as he (they) can. this has happened a few times since I joined in last fall. So I'll just say HI now! emoticon

THE CANDY WITH A LITTLE HOLE......

Wednesday, June 23, 2010

This should make you smile. You have to love little kids.
LIFESAVERS

The children began to identify the flavors by their color:
Red..........Cherry
Yellow..........Lemon
Green..........Lime
Orange..........Orange

Finally the teacher gave them all HONEY lifesavers. None of the children could identify the taste.

The teacher said, "I will give you all a clue. It's what your mother may sometimes call your father."

One little girl looked up in horror, spit her Lifesaver out and yelled, "Oh my Gosh! They're #@%-holes!"

The teacher had to leave the room!!!

Good Memories + Laughter = A Fun Reunion

Tuesday, June 22, 2010

My husband's younger brother lost his wife to breast cancer in January. Yesterday, he drove up to our house to spend a couple of days with us before he and my husband headed up North for a fishing trip with their other 2 brothers. It was the first time since his wife's death that he had spent this much one-on-one time with us. We wanted it to be uplifting for him to be here, because the last overnight trip here was with Brenda and we knew this could be difficult for him. The 4 of us did alot together and now we were 3!!! What we decided to do was to get out all of our film footage of us over the years.......trips we had taken together, water-skiing with the kids, family reunions, etc.. We had so much fun!!! We laughed so hard at some of the crazyness and some of the kids antics and how we looked in the 70's........... It was fun and Brenda was with us again even if it was on film..........she always loved to laugh and would have really enjoyed last night.

That was a good idea. Laughter is good medicine. As we know you can't forget or do we really want to forget the ones we love. Its good to laugh and remember the good time.

Sounds like you gave him a wonderful evening. Hope the guys have a grand time. Weather here is still hot and humid, and the forecast for tomorrow is mid nineties. Not good for me. But I've got my iced tea, my smoothies, and my veggies.

Called my fairy godmother in Florida yesterday. She and I adopted each other 10 years ago. She is 88 and sharp as a ever, but the body is breaking down. She's been admiring the walkers they have down there. She likes the horns they have on some of them, so you can warn people to get out of your way. She was also telling me "some of them even have seats". You would think someone was talking about a new car. I think I'm going to buy a bike horn or a bell and send it to her. That should give her something to smile about
