A Hug

Wednesday, March 03, 2010

A hug is a great gift. One size fits all. It can be given for any occasion and it's easy to exchange.
I come from a family of HUGGERS!!!!! I guess you could say that I am genetically predisposed. And, I am glad. There have been MANY times in my life when I have needed a hug badly and when received, it has always helped.
Take the time today to give someone a hug. It will make you feel better too.

There are so many different types of hugs, yet each one is precious. Little children give them so sweetly and freely. Have been most fortunate to get hugs from my children and grandchildren, even from the in-laws. My husband does like hugs too. Some of the most surprising come from the teen-age grandchildren, they are never to grown-up to hug!
Sending a great big HUG your way!!

It surely does. I was given a hug by my hubby for making it to the top of an incredible mountain hike. It felt so good, I made it the last 100 meters when I was feeling wiped out.

This Is So True......

Tuesday, March 02, 2010

Courage does not always ROAR. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow."
Anonymous

We all have our "Not so good" days. Thankfully, there is tomorrow to make it better.

To true, I nearly had a bad day but at the last minute managed to pull some courage forward and made a very low cal snack to keep within calories.

UCLA Study

Monday, March 01, 2010

A study worth sharing with friends both male and female:
A study conducted by UCLA's Department of Psychiatry has revealed that the kind of face a woman finds attractive on a man can differ depending on where she is in her menstrual cycle. For example: If she is ovulating, she is attracted to men with rugged and masculine features. However, if she is menstruating or menopausal, she tends to be more attracted to a man with duct tape over his mouth and a spear lodged in his chest while he is on fire.
No further studies are expected.

    LOL
And I volunteer to re-enact the study. I know a volunteer 'lab rat' we can use. I'll tell him we can't disclose the purpose of the test because it would spoil the results.

Loved this, those studies sure do get to the crux of the matter. What about when those phases are over, you know when the women are in late 60's and upward? Will have to study that a little later maybe....

"My Beginning Exercise"

Sunday, February 28, 2010

Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side.
With a 5-lb potato bag in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, and then relax.

Each day you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer. After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-lb potato bags.

Then try 50-lb potato bags and then eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100-lb potato bag in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute. (I'm at this level)

After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each bag.

This sounds like a great fun exercise, but I wouldn't rush to put a potato in the bags too soon.!!! Have a great week-end and don't lift anything too heavy.....

Another Way Of Looking At Our Weight?????

Saturday, February 27, 2010

A friend sent this to me this morning and I thought it might give you a bit of a chuckle.....

We are in an age when media puts into our heads the idea that only skinny people are beautiful, but I prefer to enjoy an ice cream with my kids, a good dinner with a man who makes me shiver, and a glass of wine with my friends. With time, we gain weight because we accumulate so much information and wisdom in our heads that when there is no more room, it distributes out to the rest of our bodies. So we aren't heavy, we are enormously cultured, educated and happy. Beginning today, when I look at my butt in the mirror I will think, "Good grief, look how smart I am!!!"

I love it. It's all about perspective, right?

I know this is supposed to be light-hearted, and I guess this makes me a bit of a wet towel, but here goes anyway:

All of us can eat ice cream, have a good dinner, and drink wine and still lose weight and live a healthy lifestyle. We just have to understand how those things work into out nutrition and fitness and adjust accordingly.

K, lameness over : p
