I Wish This For You.........

Sunday, April 20, 2014

No matter where you are or who you are with or what you are doing today, I wish you the Peace and Hope and Beauty of Easter.
I am going to be with my Mom (who is turning 90 and we are celebrating her birthday today), My Brother and his wife, My Nephew and his Girlfriend and his Son, our oldest Son and his Wife, and our two Grand-daughters, and our youngest Son. Family means a lot to us and we will celebrate with dinner at 1 PM followed by an Easter Egg hunt, and outside games. I hope the rain stays away until much later today.........

Happy Easter my Dear Spark Friends.......... emoticon

The Easter Bunny

Saturday, April 19, 2014

I thought you might enjoy this one.........hope you have a wonderful Easter.

A lady opened her refrigerator and saw a rabbit sitting on one of the shelves.
"What are you doing in there?" she asked.

The rabbit replied: "This is a Westinghouse, isn't it?" (Westinghouse used to be a popular brand of refrigerators)

To which the lady replied "Yes."

"Well," the rabbit said,

"I'm westing."

Sorry..........I couldn't help myself!!!

Happy Easter

Friday, April 18, 2014

All I need to know I learned from the Easter Bunny!!!

Don't put all your eggs in one basket.

Everyone needs a friend who is all ears.

There's no such thing as too much candy.

All work and no play can make you a basket case.

A cute tail attracts a lot of attention.

Everyone is entitled to a bad hare day.

Let happy thoughts multiply like rabbits.

Some body parts should be floppy.

Keep your paws off of other people's jelly beans.

Good things come in small, sugar coated packages.

The grass is always greener in someone else's basket.

To show your true colors, you have to come out of the shell.

The best things in life are still sweet and gooey.......

May the joy of the season fill your heart.

AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU!

HAPPY EASTER!!!

A Lesson Learned

Thursday, April 17, 2014

I want to pass on some wisdom that I think we all need to think about and put into practice. I am a BABY BOOMER!!!!! There are A LOT of us!!!!! And we are hitting the ages when things begin to go awry and we may need Medical Care. What I have learned since March 25th is that we have to be our OWN advocates. I have been to several doctors over the past month and what I have discovered is that they are taking on way too many patients and because of this, we ARE NOT getting the care that we should be. The Doctors and Nurses and many others in the Medical field are being flooded with patients, especially Baby Boomers. They can't possibly provide the ONE-ON-ONE care that we should be getting in order to stay healthy. Because of this, we have to question, write down instructions while in their prescence, and double-check EVERYTHING. The nurse from my Doctor's Office called this morning to talk to me about my stress tests. She gave me the times for each and her time DID NOT match what I was told by the Outreach Clinic. I called this to her attention and while I was put on hold, called Radiology to check it out. I had the correct time and she DID NOT. Then I asked her about preparation for the test on Monday...........things to avoid...........she said that Caffiene was the only item. The last time I talked to her she had said both Caffiene and my BP medication. I decided to cross-check this too and called Radiology myself. The nurse was correct and caffiene is the only thing I can't have for 24 hours before my test. I WILL NOT assume anything anymore. I will DOUBLE-CHECK everything, because it is my health that I am dealing with and I am my own BEST ADVOCATE. emoticon

Thanks for sharing your experience. I agree that we should advocate for ourselves. It might be a life threatening situation if someone else makes an error.

It's so true, when I was waiting for my bone density scan an x-ray tech came up to me and told me that she would see me in x-ray right after my mammogram. I told her I was not scheduled for an x-ray today. She said "oh yes, you are on my list", my husband said when I was getting the bone density scan she came out again and said "your wife is next in x-ray!" When I got out he said let's get the ....out of here!

It is really scary how the medical profession is so overwhelmed. We really do need to be our own advocates! emoticon emoticon

SAD BUT TRUE. YOU HAVE TO CHECK PRESCRIPTIONS ALSO THERE CAN BE MIX UPS THERE TO. IT SEEMS EVERYONE IS OVERWORKED AND UNDER STAFFED.

A few years ago my dad was scheduled for a surgery and the pre-op nurse told him not to take his insulin. While he was waiting for the surgery his blood sugar spiked to over 500. They asked him if he took his insulin, he said they told him not to. That nurse said he should have been told to take half. They sent him home, couldn't do the surgery. So yes you do have to ask questions and be your own advocate and double check even if it may cause someone to get a little upset.

AMEN!!! We try to always go to the doctor with my Mom so that we can ask the questions she doesnt'! In fact, I went with my BFF for her results of a breast biopsy a few weeks ago, and I was the one - not her husband or daughter in the medical field - who asked the questions. So continue to follow-up, take notes, question, and when you can, bring an advocate who might think of something you dont'.. And remember, we are paying them!!!

All Systems Go!!!!!

Wednesday, April 16, 2014

I had a call from the Outreach Clinic at our local hospital today, and the news was excellent!!!!! I have the first part of my Nuclear Stress Test on Monday, April 21 at 2 PM and the second part of the test is scheduled for Tuesday, April 22 at 8 AM. Following the test on Tuesday, I will meet with the Cardiologist at 12:30 PM and we will discuss the results of the two tests. If I pass the tests, I will move on to the (repeat) Pre-Op exam on Wednesday, April 23 at 10 AM at U.W. Hospital in Madison (where I will have my surgery) and if that goes well, I should be cleared for the surgery to take place on Tuesday, April 29. Please wish me successful testing so that NOTHING gets in the way of the surgery on the 29th. This has taken some major scheduling acrobatics and I have to admit that I promised the receptionist from the Outreach Clinic the moon if she could ONLY work it out so I could see the U.W. Cardiologist on the 22nd. If she hadn't made that happen, I would be rescheduling everything all over again. Now I have to figure out what I can do for her for making this happen. Maybe a beautiful Spring bouquet? I will have to think on it.

Thank You again for all of your encouragement throughout this month. I sincerely appreciate each and every one of you!!! I hope that the rest goes smooth........and that the results of the surgery are good ones.
