False Teeth Ettiquette

Thursday, August 21, 2014

One of my dearest friends and her husband were here yesterday afternoon and for supper and the evening. I have a great sense of humor!!!!! I emoticon to laugh!!!!! So does my dearest friend. I mentioned to her that my DH is leaving on Saturday for a week's fishing trip with his brothers. His oldest brother and his wife were here for 2 weeks last summer. We found out that they were coming 10 minutes before they arrived!!!!! Needless to say, this did NOT start their visit off on a good note!!!!! My BIL has false teeth. They are seldom found in his mouth!!! The second night that they were here, we were all sitting in the living room visiting. I should mention at this point, that at the time we had two dogs. We lost our Australian Terrier to Pancreatitis a year ago on August 28th. Tyke was one of the best dogs we have ever had. He was sweet and affectionate and rarely got in trouble. That night my BIL took out his teeth and for whatever reason, placed them on the floor next to his chair!!!!! YUK..........RIGHT??????? A few minutes later, my SIL, who was sitting on the couch petting Tyke, said, "Mark, I think that Tyke is chewing on your teeth." I looked over at Tyke and immediately dissolved in uncontrollable fits of laughter. My BIL was incensed and upset that Tyke had his teeth. I was just getting myself under control, when my husband said to his brother. "Teeth are for chewing and Tyke is chewing your teeth. And..........Who puts their teeth on ANY floor, and especially a floor that is home to two dogs?" I had to leave the room at this time to finish laughing as I knew it would NOT be well-received!!!

I told this story to my dearest friend last night and we were both laughing so hard that tears were running down our cheeks!!!!! When we were finally under control, she said. "Who takes their teeth out in front of others in the first place and then chooses to set them on the floor?????" Now she knows WHY there are so many stories to tell after this brother and his wife are here for ANY length of time.

You just can't make this stuff up!!!!! emoticon emoticon

OMG - that is one of the funniest REAL LIFE stories I've EVER heard! You are SO RIGHT - who would take their dentures out and put them on the floor AT HOME, much less at someone else's home? AMAZING!

A Fun Afternoon

Wednesday, August 20, 2014

In just a few hours, I will be with a former college roommate. We met the day I moved into the dorm my Freshman year and ended up living together for 4 years. She lived across the hall from me in the dorm and was in her room when my Mom and Dad and I moved me into my room. She looked so lost and alone that my Dad invited her to come along with us while we looked for a bedspread for my bed. She came with us and we have been friends for 50 years now!!!
Of all the people I have known over my lifetime, she is the person that I respect most. She came from a very poor family who COULD NOT help her with college expenses. She worked two jobs all the way through school and our Senior year, she was in two very serious automobile accidents. She was told that she would NOT graduate with our class, because she would NEVER be able to make up all of the work. The powers that be did NOT know her!!! We were in several classes together, so I brought all of the work to her in the hospital and then to our apartment. I also went to her other professors, explained the situation, and they gave me all of her assignments and suggested alternate projects that she could do from home. It was a TON of work!!!!!!! But, she did it and graduated with our class.

After college, she taught for a few years, married a guy who was career-military, had two beautiful children, divorced, went back to college and got her degree in Psychology. She raised the kids on her own and worked her way up in her job to a very good position in a State Hospital. Then she met her present husband. They have been married for 28 years and will be having supper with us tonight. We only live 45 miles apart now and get together as often as possible.

Make new friends but keep the old..........one is silver and the other GOLD!!!

    Patti,

I learned that song, when I was a Girl Scout, and I've never forgotten it!

How cool is that! I have a friend like yours, in my life too and I've know her for 30 years. She finally moved back to town, two months ago, and she still settling in, and completing her school work on line. Just as your friend is, she's AMAZING and I count it all JOY that she's been and is in my life! ENJOY YOUR EVENING!!!

Blessings!

YES, This Is Us!!!

Tuesday, August 19, 2014

Senior citizens are constantly being criticized for every conceivable deficiency of the modern world, real or imaginary. We know we take responsibility for all we have done and do not blame others.

HOWEVER, upon reflection, we would like to point out that it was NOT the senior citizens who took:

The MELODY out of music,

The PRIDE out of appearance,

The COURTESY out of driving,

The ROMANCE out of love,

The COMMITMENT out of marriage,

The RESPONSIBILITY out of parenthood,

The TOGETHERNESS out of the family,

The LEARNING out of education,

The SERVICE out of patriotism,

The GOLDEN RULE from rulers,

The NATIVITY scene out of cities,

The CIVILITY out of behavior,

The REFINEMENT out of language,

The DEDICATION out of employment,

The PRUDENCE out of spending,

The AMBITION out of achievement

or

GOD out of government and school.

And we are NOT the ones who eliminated PATIENCE and TOLERANCE from personal relationships and interactions with others.

And we DO understand the meaning of patriotism and remember those who have fought and died for our country.

Just look at the Seniors with tears in their eyes and pride in their hearts as they stand at attention with their hand over their hearts!!!

YES, I'M A SENIOR CITIZEN!!!

Grandpa, What Is Couple Sex?

Monday, August 18, 2014

An 8-year-old girl went to her grandfather, who was working in the yard and asked him, "Grampa, what is a couple sex?" The grandfather was surprised that she would ask such a question, but decided that if she's old enough to know to ask the question then she's old enough to get a straight answer.

Steeling himself to leave nothing out, he proceeded to tell her all about human reproduction and the joys and responsibilities that go along with it. When he finished explaining, the little girl was looking at him with her mouth hanging open, eyes wide in amazement. Seeing the look on her face, the grandfather asked her, "Why did you ask this question, honey?"

The little girl replied, "Well, Grandma says to tell you that dinner will be ready in a couple secs."

This would NEVER happen to my DH because if either of our grand-daughters asked the question above, they would be told that Grandma would have the BEST answer for that.....

emoticon Is exactly the expression my dear dad had when ( at 7) I asked him the meaning of a list of 4 letter words.
I have never seen anyone go that blank
after he recovered from the shock ...he did oblige.

I do miss my Dad emoticon
