Blessed, healthy New Year

Friday, January 01, 2010

I wish everyone a blessed, healthy New Year. May you achieve your Spark goals. May you remember Who gives you life and blessings. May your dreams be realized. I am starting the year with going to Church this morning and thanking God for all the goodness He has bestowed on us.

Quiet Reflection

Thursday, December 31, 2009

I will be spending New Year's Eve reflecting on this past year. In the past, Tim and I have gone out. I am still getting over his loss. I didn't realize how much I would miss him. When he would go to Florida, I didn't miss him the way I do now. I guess that is because I knew he was coming back. Death is so permanent. His family has been so good at including me.

The grieving process is different for everyone. Be good to yourself and take your time.

God Bless,

Sunny

Patricia, the feeling never goes away, but it will soften. Give yourself time. Permanent loss is always hard to handle. Be kind to yourself. Let the memories flow.

I remember my first New Year's after my father passed away. It was hard to see everyone celebrating while I was spending so much time reflecting on everything that had happened that year and just how much my world had changed.
I'm glad to hear Tim's family has been good at including you. That must help a lot.
Please be kind to yourself and take some time to do something that you really enjoy!
Thinking of you.

Knee

Wednesday, December 30, 2009

I have taken the next step in finding out what I did to my knee when I twisted it. The pain has gone on too long, despite proper treatment. Today, I had a MRI of it. Next week, I go to the orthopedist. Hopefully, it is something minor and can be easily taken care of. Yesterday, Tim's sister-in-law gave me his cane. It does help.

Oooh - good luck with the knee! I hope it's something very minor that just is taking a while to heal and nothing more.

Do keep up posted. I hope it is something that PT can address and that you do not need surgery to correct it.

I understand what it's like to have problems with your knees and feet. Last year I had surgery on my foot for a bone deformity and I just had surgery for a torn miniscus. Needless to say that exercise is tough to do right now. I am doing the exercised that my doctor prescribed, but I am having a rough time couning them. I am so used to sweating like crazy when I exercise, that what I am doing right now just doesn't seem like enough to count.

I found that icing my knee down helped a great deal even before I had my MRI to diagnose the problem. I also wear an elastic knee brace when I exercise for more support. I hope that things go well and that it is only a minor problem. Take care of yourself and feel better!

It's amazing how much a cane helps! Whenever my hip gives me trouble, I grab one of my dad's canes (he no longer needs one). Just getting out of bed with a cane is such a blessing! Thank you to whoever invented canes!! You and your health care providers are in my prayers for a swift recovery.

Seasonal Movies

Tuesday, December 29, 2009

There are certain 'must see' movies every Christmas season. These include 'A Christmas Carol', 'Miracle on 34th Street', 'A Christmas Story' and 'It's a Wonderful Life'. I mentioned to my daughter that I had seen them all this year except 'It's a Wonderful Life'. She instantly got up and began looking through her drawer of VCR's. What should appear - THAT video! I watched it last night. Now that holiday tradition is complete.

Snowfall

Monday, December 28, 2009

The snow has been gently falling since yesterday. These are small flakes that blow around easily.
There is a drift in my driveway. It is beautiful to watch from indoors. The Christmas lights in the neighborhood with the snow are just beautiful. By tomorrow, when I need to go out, the storm is supposed to be over. This is the first snowfall of any significance this year. Up until now, it has been less than an inch.

Well, it's moved on from us, leaving only the heaps and mounds at the sides of the roads & corners of parking lots. Except for the "trace to two inches" that's coming tomorrow night... it looks like the Great Christmas Blizzard of 2009 has moved East!

Snowing here is Pa also. Got about 3 to 3 inches today. The temperatures are really suppose to be very low. It is only around 17 here today and the rest of the week to be a lot colder.
