It is a great idea to eat more often... small meals. I am sure you are not hungry during the day because of this plan. Very good.

Doing Better

Tuesday, December 15, 2009

I had a better day today for watching my calories. My major slip-up was a Christmas cookie baked by a patient. Other then that, I had vegetables, fruit, beef tips, noodles, milk, juice and, of course, water.
I'm aware the Christmas season is here and it is my most difficult time of year for staying on track.

Any holiday season is tough to deal with when your diabetic, old habits are hard to break.
You are doing great being mindful of what you eat and are helping me too. I think if Patricia can do so can I.
Thanks for sharing.

I think it is all of our ahrdest time.

I'm jsut curious... I'd like to see a sample meal plan you ahve in a whole day. Your numbers are excellent. I ahve to deprive myself so much and eat the things I really don' like in order to lower my blood sugar. It's dreadful for me and i can't get mine as low as yours.

Bad Weekend for Calories

Monday, December 14, 2009

On Friday, there was an appreciation dinner for the volunteers at my Church. I didn't know the names of the fancy desserts so I didn't log them. I'm sure I was over for the calories and carbohydrates for the day though. On Saturday, there was a Christmas party and my birthday party. 'Nuf said! Sunday, I did a little better at that Christmas party by loading up on salad and green beans and going sparingly on the noodles, beef tips with gravy, redskin potatoes and cookies. With all the parties, I need to pick myself up, dust myself off and face a more disciplined week.

Sometimes one just has to indulge. Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend with friends and family.

Birthday Presents

Sunday, December 13, 2009

I received several nice birthday presents including cash, gift cards, etc. One stands out as the most special though. My daughter-in-law, Gretchen, put together a hard-bound book of pictures from the past couple of years picking out highlights. Her sons, Finn - age 8 and Gideon - age 4 made and decorated the cake. There were 41 people there to celebrate as it followed the family Christmas Party.

Birthday

Saturday, December 12, 2009

Today is one of those milestone birthday's that end in a '0'. My family is coincedently getting together to celebrate Christmas. Several siblings, spouses, nieces, a nephew, children and grandchildren will be gathering. No one has spilled the beans as to how my birthday will be incorporated. However, two of my children have told me that they told my nieces (who are hosting) that it is an important birthday. So we will just have to wait and see. I am excited to be getting together with so many of the family.
