Making progress

Well, I am finally feeling like I am getting somewhere. The numbers on the scale are going down! I have lost 6 lbs over the last two weeks! I have begun working out on my bowflex again. It feels good to walk past it and not have to say, "I need to start using that again!" Now I say, "It sure feels good to work out on my bowflex again!" I still walk at least 2-4 miles 6 days a week, and ride my recumbent bike for at least 25 minutes a day as well. I am proud to say that I have been able to maintain my walking program for 9.5 years now and my biking for maybe 5 years. I know that I have what it takes to gain control of my eating as well. This is my time to shine!

I was watching something on tv last night that made me realize how important it is to stay positive in my thinking. It is so easy to kick myself for the many times I have messed up on my eating and call myself a failure. But I am not a failure! 7 years ago, I weighed 70 lbs more than I do now. Yes, I lost more than that and did put some back on, but I am still at a net loss of 70 lbs!!! I am going to dwell on that aspect instead of the times I have let myself down

    Thank you for the comment on my blog. I do find it far to easy to let those 'bad head' days take over. But it's something I'm working on.
A loss of 70lbs is just amazing. Well done you. I think most people go up and down on their weight-loss journey. We're only human.
So let's be really kind to ourselves and give ourselves a big pat on the back for all the good things we have achieved and let the rest just be a part of our learning experience!

Food poisoning or flu?

Last week was not so fun for me. I ended up getting sick. Still not positive, but I believe and my doctor concurred, that I had food poisoning. Not fun! Anyway, my eating was way out of whack because my stomach was. So for a whole week, I pretty much ate carbs-crackers, bread, toast, rice, bananas and the like. All the stuff I don't eat when I am sticking to my plan! Boy, that white bread sure tasted good. Funny though, I found myself craving protein! But my stomach warned me to take it easy. So, now that my tummy is feeling a whole lot better, I am eating the way I should. I want to be able to fit in my dress for Easter. How will I accomplish that? By sticking to my plan!

    MKMMARTY- I believe I got it from a restaurant and they know I had this issue. They did not have any other reports. I did not have any tests done to confirm it because my doctor said by the time I got results, I would be over it. I guess the only reason I should have done that is to know for certain and the restaurant could know as well. Nonetheless, it will be a while before we go back there.

    I do hope you fee better. I will not argue with your doctor - but only sick for 24 hours I say you had a flu bug - But since you were sick for a whole week I would agree with the doctor it most likely was food poisoning.
Did you get tests to confirm?
Remember to wash all your fruit and vegetables - never trust who else may or may not have handled them and if they had clean hands.

time to get motivated...again and for the last time!

Now that the holidays are past, I am ready to focus on getting to my goal. I am tired of feeling the way I feel. I have been eating way too much junk over the last several weeks, and I just feel blah.
Last year I pushed myself to reach a walking goal of 1000 miles for the year. Since I didn't really set that goal until November (I had walked about 800 miles by then), the last 200 were a little bit of a push for me, but I did it! Whatever it took for me to get that goal accomplished, I did. One week, I walked over 40 miles. I knew what it was going to take to get there and just did it.

Now I am going to apply that to my eating.
I know what it is going to take to for me to reach my goal.
I know it will be a push.
I know I will feel so much better about myself.
I know I won't always be able to eat everything I want.
I know my health will improve.
I know I can and will be an example to others.

I am curious about the fitbit. If you have one, do you like it? If I understand correctly, it tracks all your daily activity. So every move I make is tracked? Do you need a smart phone to utilize the fitbit or is a pc enough? Any help would be appreciated!!! Maybe I would like it for Christmas!

    Is there a way to track your miles with it? Does it show up on sparkpeople once you transfer the information? I really want to be able to see my miles for the year. Right now, I am going for 1000 by the end of the year. 36 miles this week! I am going to try to get to 40 today!!

    I have a Fitbit Ultra, and I love it!! No, you do not need a Smart Phone, I do not have one. A PC is all you need!

I find it to be an awesome motivational tool!

I love the sleep tracking feature. I always knew I slept horribly, but the Fitbit really helps me put it into perspective.

I think they are a great investment.

    I have the Fitbit One & I love it. It keeps track of all my steps & my sleep activity. It makes me want to get those last few steps in to get to 10,000 steps. It works with either, I use it mostly on my computer. It does very well with keeping an actual step count. Good luck with your decision.
