Last summer holiday

Monday, September 07, 2009

What a beautiful day we had, not to hot, not to cold, no rain and great time with friends and family. I had the opportunity to share with others about Sparkpeople and that helped me to set the example of making good choices. I am looking forward to the day that I am on a maintenance program because I now know I will reach my goal. The good news is that if I can do it so can you.

time to change

Sunday, September 06, 2009

4 months and doing well. I really can't complain but it is now time to add some more changes to my work out. My workouts need to get harder and longer. I now have more energy and need to put it to good use. I have for the 1st time in all my dieting career changed the way to weight loss. I am eating regular foods and not drinking diet replacements. I am working out and it is working. Sometimes we just need to change what we have always done and try to do things differently. Thank you to all who have sent me words of encouragement on this journey you have helped more than you can imagine. I pray that you all will continue to do well on your journey as you encourage others. We are not in this world alone but are here to help each other. Have a great Holiday.

Weekends

Saturday, September 05, 2009

Well here it is, Saturday night at 9 pm and I'm just getting home from running around all day. Still need to get in work out time. Isn't that how life usally goes? We run here and there and when we reach the end of the day there is still things that need to be done. The question for us is did we do our best with the time that we had or did we waste some of it. If we did our best then we need not feel quilty if everything was not done, but if we did not, then we need to work on staying focused on the important things. Be honest with yourself for only you know if you truly have done your best.

I have found that people make time for the things that want to accomplish in life. When someone tells me, "I didn't get to it" they are actually saying, "It wasn't as important as other things that they did get done". However, I wonder how often I say those same words without thinking about it. We need to make every second count.

Very thought provoking blog as usual!

Holiday's

Friday, September 04, 2009

The last holiday of the summer is here and most people will be cooking out and celebrating with family and friends. I too will be with family and friends but I have done something different during this summers cookouts. On this journey to better health I have learned the necessity of good planning. You have to keep in mind that this was very hard for me. I have always been a "shoot from the hip type" of person as my wife calls it. For the most part I have been very good at going with the flow, but I have now learned that if I want better health I must plan ahead. I now make sure that there is plenty of good choices for me to make on the things I will eat at the cookouts and stay away from the unhealthy foods. It is not always easy but with a little planning and some determination I have had good success. This change in me eating pattern has also shown me my need to plan all areas of my life. Being prepared for all possibilities will help us to make good choices and to succeed in life, Have a great holiday to all.

How I love reading of your progress!
Awareness. Then action. More awareness. Now.. planning.
Ah yes, planning! Funny how we keep evolving in this transition of lifestyle...

I suspect that gaining control of these seemingly small habits frees us for what we know to be important, allows us to focus better. Yes. Planning is the next step. Lifestyle. Kinda kewl, isn't it?!

Life is short

Thursday, September 03, 2009

As we travel this path called life we are often reminded how short life is. A friend of mine lost his 18 year old son in an auto accident Tuesday afternoon. Please be praying for the Larmon family. Also remember in your busy schedule to take time to tell those you love how much they mean to you. We can do everything to get in good health but that does not promise to us a long life. Learn to make the most of every day that God gives to us and to share a little joy with those around us. Also be sure that you are ready to stand before the Lord when that day comes. If you have not prepared for that day why not do it now. If you don't know how it is as simple as A B C. Admit your sin, Believe in Jesus as God's son, and Confess your sin to HIm and ask for His forgiveness.

They will be in my prayers.
I truly wish that no parent would have to go through the immense pain of losing a child, but, it's all part if a bigger plan. We need to believe and live each day to the fullest.
