I have been working out like a fiend lately. I've run over 6 miles this week and walked another 5. Thursday I did a workout I saw on The Biggest Loser. I got a deck of cards. Diamonds were 30 seconds on the treadmill, clubs were squat presses, spades were lunges and hearts were push-ups. Face cards were worth 10 and aces 11. I would draw a card and do that number of whatever exercise I drew. I made it through the whole deck and it was an awesome workout.

Merry Christmas everyone. I hope this day finds everyone well. My family had a good morning. My daughter loved her presents and my husband bought me a workout shirt that says Nevada Wolfpack and a sweatshirt that says Nevada Alumni (both from UNR where I got my bachelors and am working on my masters degree) and I took them out for a two mile run with the dog this morning. My husband has been as inspired by the Biggest Loser as I have been so after my run the whole family tried a Ripped in 30 workout (Jillian Micheals) My daughter made through the first circuit. My husband almost made it through the second, and I finished YEAH. The first four times I did this workout I couldn't finish but I've done it twice now. I'm so excited to see myself getting stronger and building endurance.

Its wonderful to have the family 'on the same path' I think that helps keep you motivated on "I don't want to days"

I've recently become a big fan of "The Biggest Loser." It's been motivating me to kick my workouts up to a higher level. This season Rachel started out at over 200 pounds and now she's down to the 160's. i remember the week when she hit the 170's and I thought "Wow she weighs as much as I do and she's still pulling 6 or 7 pounds a week...I could be pulling 6 or 7 pounds a week." So yesterday, after watching Danni and Pam from season 14 run a 5K I decided that I could do it as well. I've started the 5k My Way program twice before but never finished it. Well yesterday I got on my treadmill and ran 3.2 miles in 41 minutes. Now that I know I can do it I feel like I could do anything. Today I finished Jillian Micheals Ripped in 30 Week 1 workout.

A good and bad weekend 11/26/13

Tuesday, November 26, 2013

My weekend was good and bad. Saturday I went for a run outside. I did a mile in 12:40. I usually don't time myself so I don't have much to compare that to but it felt like a good pace. The really amazing thing is that I was not sore at all afterward. Usually I limp around for 2 days after a run. Also on Saturday I decided to upgrade my 20 gallon salt-water aquarium to a 55 gallon so my husband and I spent all day moving furniture and hauling tanks and lifting buckets of water. The bad part of the weekend is that I lost my favorite coral in the move to the new tank. It was on the decline since Sunday and final disintegrated to nothing this morning. It was a pulsing pink Xenia and I am super bummed about it. My husband keeps promising to get a new one but that is little consolation. It's hard to even look at the tank now because all I see is the hole where it used to be.

11/20/13 Exercise Excuses

Wednesday, November 20, 2013

I'm on a mission to build a consistent workout habit so my goal right now is to workout for at least 10 minutes each day. This definitely helps me bust the "I don't have time" excuse because everybody has 10 minute right? But today I face possibly the hardest excuse to overcome, the "I worked out the last two days and now I'm so sore I couldn't squat to save my life" excuse. I saw this one coming and I already promised myself yesterday that I'd just do something lite today. I'm thinking yoga. 10 minutes of yoga will probably help with my soreness and I could always use more flexibility.
